P8700 RIM EXIT DEVICE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION 1 Determine bar height and use provided templates to drill pilot holes in door and frame. NOTE: If installing cylinder or trim, drill prep holes during this step as well. See 2b for details. Remove both end caps. 2. Slide push bar toward the hinge side of the door. 3. Continue to slide the push bar past the pivot plate that rides in push bar track. 4. Slide push bar in opposite direction keeping pivot plate out of track until pushbar is free of mounting plate. End Cap Mounting Bar Push Bar Using TEMPLATE C Cut 1-1/4" hole 29/64" From mounting centerline to center hole 29/64" 13/16" Between cylinder mounting screws 1/8" 25-11/16" 36" 31-11/16" Use screws provided with cylinder MOUNTING CENTERLINE 42" 37-11/16" 48" 43-11/16" 3 Trim Cam Install bar onto door frame using the provided #10 x 1-1/4" self tapping screws. Do not fully tighten screws until bar and strike have been properly adjusted. MOUNTING CENTERLINE #10 x 1-1/4" Self Tapping Screw (4 Required) Use screws provided with cylinder CYLINDER CENTERLINE 1/4" *NOTE: Consult cylinder manufacturer installation instructions before drilling holes for cylinder mounting screws. Template shows center mounting screw location. 4 30" BAR HEIGHT CENTER LINE BAR HEIGHT CENTERLINE Use TEMPLATE M to cut 3/8" hole for cylinder spindle and two (2) 7/32 x 82 C'sink holes for cylinder mounting screws “A” Affix cylinder plate to cylinder. Ensure holes on plate align with holes for exit bar mounting screws. WOOD DOOR 13/32" DOOR WIDTH 1-3/4" Use TEMPLATE C to cut 1-1/4" hole into outside surface of door then install cylinder. 4-40 x 5/16" Screws Trim Cam Plate 1-11/32" HOLLOW METAL DOOR Separating Push Bar and Mounting Bar Procedure Use TEMPLATE H to drill two (2) 1/8" pilot holes for mounting screws 7/8" 1" Use STRIKE TEMPLATE to drill two (2) 5/32" pilot holes for #10 self tapping screws (If using rivnuts, drill two (2) 1/4" pilot holes) Roll Pin Masking Tape 1/8" Use TEMPLATE hole for outside cylinder W to cut 1-1/4" EXIT BAR MOUNTING SCREWS NOTE: Install lock down screws once bar and strike are fully adjusted. Slide Push Bar towards the hinge side to access the lock down screw mounting holes. CYLINDER PLATE Install strike onto frame. Do not fully tighten screws until bar and strike have been properly adjusted. 5 Use #2 Phillips head screw driver to install end caps. NOTE: screws are contained inside end cap assembly. If using rivnuts, use rivnut tool provided in frame kit to install End Cap and Retainer Assembly Hinge Side End Cap Retainer Pivot Plate LEFT HAND REVERSE 1-3/8" 1-1/2" Push Bar RIGHT HAND REVERSE Drill two (2) 1/8" pilot holes for lock down screws after bar is fully adjusted Mounting Bar Mounting Cap "A " Use TEMPLATE M or TEMPLATE W (depending on door type) to drill two 1/8" pilot holes for mounting screws 1. Drive out two roll pins. 2. Remove mounting cap. 3. Collapse bar and tape down area of cut-off. 4. Determine extrusion length (“B” dim) NOTE: 3-5/8” Minimum dimension from rivet centerline to new cut-off length as shown. 5. Measure mounting bar (not push bar) and mark extrusion length on tape. 6. Saw off excess length, remove tape and debur. 7. Lay mounting cap over mounting bar and use as a guide to drill two 1/8” dia. holes. 8. Re-install mounting cap into mounting bar and drive two roll pins into holes. *SKIP STEPS 2a AND 2b IF NO OUTSIDE TRIM OR CYLINDER IS BEING INSTALLED Install trim cam and trim cam plate on underside of exit bar as shown below. Ensure trim cam has proper engagement before installing bar onto door. MOUNTING CENTERLINE Cut-off Instructions for Non-standard Doors 2a Stop Plate #10 x 3/4" Self Tapping Screws (2 Required) INSTALLING PUSH BAR TO MOUNTING BAR With push bar in hand and mounting bar attached to door. Find stop plate staked into push bar (this plate is on the latch end of assembled unit). Slide the pivot plate nearest hinge into track of push bar until second pivot plate is exposed. Insert pivot plate into track on push bar and slide in opposite direction until push bar and mounting bar align. NOTE: Lockdown screw is to be installed after strike and bar have been properly adjusted Latch Side End Cap
