wm2-2&mWireless Zone SensorModel 7722TX(TRANE Part No. X13790126060)INSTALLATIQN INSTRUCVONSINTRODUCTIONThis wireless zane sensor is designed for use in atemperature control system, operating in conjunction with acentrally located Spread Spectrum Receiver (Model 7712RX).Zone sensors are installed in areas where temperaturecontrol is to be maintained. Ideally, the receiver should beequidistant from all its assigned zone sensors. The zone sensor measures temperature and periodicallytransmits that information via RF stgnals to its assignedreceiver. The sensor also transmits occupant set pointtemperature. Other information that can be transmittedincludes special service requests, unique serial number ofsensor, and status of the batteries in the unit.RF signals from wireless zone sensors are received by areceiver, which will then send appropriate messages viacommunication wires to specific .heating and air conditioningequipment assigned to it. This information is also sent to acentral controller for system monitoring. After mounting each wireless sensor, the Model 7712lTInstallation Tool can be used to assign each sensor to anecessary instructions for this are contained in theinstructions accompanying the 7712lT Installation Tool.INSTALLATIONLocationWireless sensors can be installed anywhere on commonwalls and panitions. Operation will not be affected by metalframing in walls or partitions; however, mounting to solidmetal walls or cabinets may reduce the operating distancebetween the zone sensor and the receiver. Typical line-ot-sight transmission range indoors for sensors is approximately1OOOfeetMounting (Fig. 2)A mounting plate is provided with the sensor. If attached tothe back of the sensor, release it by depressing the ‘lockingtab’ at the bottom center of the mounting plate with the bladeof a screwdriver, and then sliding the plate downward.Mount the plate on the selected wall or partition with theVELCRO strips or screws provided. Hooks must point upward(the plate also has the word ‘TOP’ molded into the top side).Position the sensor onto the mounting plate so that themounting plate hooks enter the keyhole slots in the back ofthe sensor, then slide downward to lock the sensor in place.Battery Installation (Fig. 3)The sensor uses two 3-volt Lithium batteries (supplied).Remove the sensor cover by squeezing the cover at the topand bottom and then pulling the cover away.Install one battery in each compartment in the sensor. THESENSOR WILL NOT OPERATE WtTH ONLY ONEBATTERY.Note: Batteries will not seat properly in their compartments ifinstalled incorrectly with regard to polarity. Make sure eachbattery is fully seated in the compartment and that properconted is being made at each end of the battery.WSHBlJlSWrTCin0iiFigure 1. See Figure 3 for location of the lockingtab.
FUNCTIONAL ELECTRICAL TESTThis check should be performed after a zone sensor hasbeen mounted and the batleries installed. The cover must beOtf.If the sensor is equipped with a temperature control, set thecontrol dial with ‘70’ in the 9 o’clock position.Press either one d the two pushbutton switches on .the upperleft side of the sensor. The green LED near the bottom of thecircuit board should flash each time the pushbutton ispressed. If it does not, check that both batteries are good andare property seated in the holders. In normal use, the green LED will Hash each time the zonesensor transmits a message, usually several minutes apart.SET-UP PROCEDURERater to the sensor set-up procedures In the instructions8ccompanylng the Model 771211 installation Tool.SPECIFICATIONSDlmenslonr: Height: 4-l/16’Wiih: 5’Depth: l-5416’ (not incfuding mounting plate).(103mmH x 127mmW x 33mmD)Range:Nominal 1OOO feet fine-of-sight, indoors.Batledes: Two 3vdl&‘3A Lithium Batteries.Use only Trane No. X1377001 7010, PanasonicCR123A, Duracell 1234 or Sanyo CR123A forreplacement.Risk of fire, explosion and bur’ns.
