Introduction1. IntroductionThe WN6401C is an IEEE 802.11a/b/g standard compatible MiniPCI PC Card, whichsupports high data rate up to 54Mbps (for 802.11a or g) over the Ethernet speed,while remaining backward compatible to the existing installed base of 802.11b over15 million Wi-Fi systems worldwide. WN6401C will enable a next generation ofhigh-data-rate platforms for operation in the 2.4 GHz band that deliver a five-foldspeed increase. In addition, a 30 percent range advantage and lower powerconsumption are realized compared to systems operating in the 5 GHz spectrum. Thecost and performance advantages will make it an ideal solution for high bandwidthenterprise applications, such as wireless video conferencing and large file transfers, aswell as advanced home networking applications such as multi-channel CD-qualityaudio and DVD-quality video streaming. WN6401C incorporates the 802.11g DraftStandard's 7.0 mandatory modulation schemes—Complementary Code Keying (CCK),which is used in 802.11b, and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM),used in 802.11g or 11a. This device is intended only for OEM integrators under the followingconditions:1) The antenna must be installed such that 20 cm is maintained between theantenna and users, and2) The antenna should be integral if the end device is intended to be operatedin 5.15 ~ 5.25GHz frequency range.As long as 2 conditions above are met, further transmitter test will not berequired. However, the OEM integrator is still responsible for testing their end-product for any additional compliance requirements required with this moduleinstalled (for example, digital device emissions, PC peripheral requirements,etc.).IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that these conditions can not be met (forexample certain laptop configurations or co-location with another transmitter),then the FCC authorization is no longer considered valid and the FCC ID cannot be used on the final product. In these circumstances, the OEM integratorwill be responsible for re-evaluating the end product (including the transmitter)and obtaining a separate FCC authorization.End Product LabelingThis transmitter module is authorized only for use in device where the antennamay be installed such that 20 cm may be maintained between the antenna andusers . The final end product must be labeled in a visible area with thefollowing: “Contains TX FCC ID: RAXWN6401CARC”.Manual Information That Must be IncludedThe OEM integrator has to be aware not to provide information to the end userregarding how to install or remove this RF module in the users manual of theend product which integrate this module.The users manual for OEM integrators end users must include the followinginformation in a prominent location “ IMPORTANT NOTE: To comply with FCCRF exposure compliance requirements, the antenna used for this transmittermust be installed to provide a separation distance of at least 20 cm from allpersons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any otherantenna or transmitter”.If the end product integrating this module is going to be operated in 5.15 ~5.25GHz frequency range, the warning statement in the user manual of theend product should include the restriction of operating this device in indoorcould void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
