In-Car RouterInstallation GuideVersion 1.02
WARNINGTo prevent injury or fire, take the following precautions:•When extending the ignition, battery, or ground wires,make sure to use automotive grade wires or otherwires with a 8mm (AWG 8) or more to prevent wiredeterioration and damage to the wire coating.•To prevent a short circuit, never put or leave anymetallic objects (such as coins or metal tools) insidethe unit.•If the unit starts to emit smoke or strange smells, turnoff the power immediately and consult  AutonetMobile.•Do nit touch the unit during use because the surfaceof the unit becomes hot and may cause burns iftouched.•Mounting and wiring this product requires skills andexperience. For safety’s sake, leave the mountingand  wiring work  to professionals.CAUTIONTo prevent damage to the machine, take the followingprecautions:•Be sure the unit is connect to a 12v DC powersupply with a negative ground connection.•Do not open the bottom covers of the unit.•Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to directsunlight or excessive heat or humidity. Also avoidplaces with too much dust or the possibility of watersplashing.• When replacing a fuse, only use a new one with theprescribed rating. Using a fuse with the wrong ratingmay cause your unit to malfunction.•To prevent a short circuit when replacing a fuse, firstdisconnect the wiring harness.NOTE•If you experience problems during installation,consult Autonet Mobile.•If the unit does not seem to be working right, consultAutonet Mobile.Wiring•Take the power wire for this unit directly from theignition power source. If it’s connected to thevehicles wiring harness, it can cause blown fuses,etc. If it is connected directly to the cars battery thenit can can deplete the battery.•Do not allow the wire to directly contact the edge ofthe iron plate by using grommets.•Connect the ground wire to a metal part of the carchassis that acts as an electrical ground passingelectricity to the battery’s negative terminal. Do notturn the power on if the ground wire is notconnected.•Be sure to install the protective fuse in the powercord.•For the power cord and ground, use a vehicle type(fireproof) power wiring cord with a current capacitygreater then the units fuse capacity. Use a powercord with a diameter 8mm (AWG 8) or greater.Cleaning the unitIf the unit gets dirty, turn off the power and wipe thepanel with a dry silicon cloth or soft cloth.Do not wipe the unit with a hard cloth or a cloth dampened byvolatile solvents such as paint thinner and alcohol. They can scratchthe surface of the unit and/or cause the sealant to peel off.To prevent the battery from running outWhen the unit is in the ACC ON position without turning the engineON, it depletes the battery. Use it after starting the engine.FCC WARNINGExposure to Radio Frequency SignalsAutonet Mobile is a low power radio transmitter and receiver.When it is turned on, it sends out and receives RF signals.Autonet Mobile complies with FCC guidelines respecting safelevels of RF exposure for handled wireless devices, which inturn are consistent with the following safety standardspreviously set by certain standards bodies: ·•ANSI/IEEE C95.1-1999, IEEE Standard for SafetyLevels with Respect to Human Exposure to RadioFrequency Electromagnetic Fields, 3 kHz to 300GHz; ·•National Counsel on Radiation Protection andMeasurements (NCRP) Report 86, - 1986,Biological Effects and Exposure criterion for RadioFrequency Electromagnetic Fields; and ·•International Commission on Non-IonisingRadiation Protection (ICNIRP) 1988, Guidelines forlimiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic,and electromagnetic fields (up to 300 GHz).To maintain compliance with FCC exposure guidelines, useonly accessories supplied or approved by Autonet Mobile, Inc.FCC Compliance StatementThis equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limitsfor a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules.These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection againstharmful interference when the equipment is operated in acommercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and canradiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used inaccordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmfulinterference to radio communications. Operation of this equipmentin a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in whichcase the user will be required to correct the interference at his ownexpense.Specific Absorption Rate DataAutonet Mobile meets U.S. government requirements forexposure to radio waves. Autonet Mobile is a radio transmitterand receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceedthe emission limits for exposure to RF energy set by the FCC.These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines andestablish permitted levels of exposure to RF energy for thegeneral population. These guidelines are based on standardsthat were developed by independent scientific organizationsthrough periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies.The standards include a substantial safety margin designed toassure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health.Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the partyresponsible for compliance could void the user’s authority tooperate the equipment.Safety precautions
Selecting a Mounting Location•The In-Car router is typically mounted in the followinglocations.{On the inside rear side panel in an SUV or Van{Under the rear deck lid in a sedan{In the trunk of the vehicle•The unit should be mounted in a location that givesthe antennas the fewest obstructions to the outsideworld as possible.•The unit should be mounted so that the Blue LEDand the serial number on the top of the unit arevisible. The use will need access to these whencalling Autonet Mobile Customer Service.•Do NOT install the unit in the following locations:{In a location that interferes with driving{In a location that gets wet{In a dusty location{In a place that gets hot{In a place that gets direct sunlight{In a location that gets hit by hot air{Within 20 cm of any passenger•Do NOT install the unit under the carpet. Otherwiseheat build-up occurs and the unit may be damaged.•Install this unit in a location which allows heat toeasily dissipate. Once installed, do not place anyobject on top of the unit.•The surface area of the In-Car router may becomehot during use. Install the unit in a place wherepeople, resins, and other substances that aresensitive to heat will not come into contact with it.•When making a hole in a side panel, under a seat, inthe trunk, in the rear deck or somewhere else in thevehicle, check that there is nothing hazardous on theopposite side such as a gas tank, brake pipe, battery,or wiring harness, and be careful not to causescratches or other damage.•Do NOT install near the dashboard, rear tray, or airbag safety parts.•The installation to the vehicle should securely fastenthe unit to a place in which it will not obstruct driving.If the unit comes off due to a shock and hits a personor safety part, it may cause injury or an accident.•After installing the unit, check to make sure thatelectrical equipment such as the brake lamps, turnsignal lamps and windshield wipers operate normally.InstallationExample Mounting LocationTools/Supplies NeededQty                                     Description4       Self tapping screws1      Screwdriver1      16 Guage wire
Mounting the In-Car Router1.  Using the self tapping screws attach the unit to thevehicle.2.  Do NOT over tighten the screws.3.  Ensure that the unit is securely fastened and that itcannot be dislodged.Electrical wiring1.  Remove the ignition key and disconnect thenegative terminal of the battery.2.  Electrical wire must be routed to the power sourcein a manner that prevents the wire from beingdamaged or nicked in anyway. It should also beensured that wire is not exposed in a manner thatmay allow it to become snagged or entangled inany way.3.  Connect the power wire (Red wire) to a circuit thatonly provides power when the ignition is turned on.4.  Connect the ground wire (Black wire) to a metalpart of the car chassis that acts as an electricalground passing electricity to the battery’s negativeterminal.5.  When the unit is initially powered up, the Blue LEDon top of the unit while come on for a few seconds.6.
