Safety precautions
WARNING
To prevent injury or fire, take the following precautions:
When extending the ignition, battery, or ground wires,
make sure to use automotive grade wires or other
wires with a 8mm (AWG 8) or more to prevent wire
deterioration and damage to the wire coating.
To prevent a short circuit, never put or leave any
metallic objects (such as coins or metal tools) inside
the unit.
If the unit starts to emit smoke or strange smells, turn
off the power immediately and consult Autonet
Mobile.
Do nit touch the unit during use because the surface
of the unit becomes hot and may cause burns if
touched.
Mounting and wiring this product requires skills and
experience. For safety’s sake, leave the mounting
and wiring work to professionals.
•
Do not wipe the unit with a hard cloth or a cloth dampened by
volatile solvents such as paint thinner and alcohol. They can scratch
the surface of the unit and/or cause the sealant to peel off.
•
To prevent the battery from running out
When the unit is in the ACC ON position without turning the engine
ON, it depletes the battery. Use it after starting the engine.
•
•
•
CAUTION
To prevent damage to the machine, take the following
precautions:
Be sure the unit is connect to a 12v DC power
supply with a negative ground connection.
Do not open the bottom covers of the unit.
Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to direct
sunlight or excessive heat or humidity. Also avoid
places with too much dust or the possibility of water
splashing.
When replacing a fuse, only use a new one with the
prescribed rating. Using a fuse with the wrong rating
may cause your unit to malfunction.
To prevent a short circuit when replacing a fuse, first
disconnect the wiring harness.
•
•
•
•
•
NOTE
•
•
If you experience problems during installation,
consult Autonet Mobile.
If the unit does not seem to be working right, consult
Autonet Mobile.
Wiring
•
•
•
•
•
Take the power wire for this unit directly from the
ignition power source. If it’s connected to the
vehicles wiring harness, it can cause blown fuses,
etc. If it is connected directly to the cars battery then
it can can deplete the battery.
Do not allow the wire to directly contact the edge of
the iron plate by using grommets.
Connect the ground wire to a metal part of the car
chassis that acts as an electrical ground passing
electricity to the battery’s negative terminal. Do not
turn the power on if the ground wire is not
connected.
Be sure to install the protective fuse in the power
cord.
For the power cord and ground, use a vehicle type
(fireproof) power wiring cord with a current capacity
greater then the units fuse capacity. Use a power
cord with a diameter 8mm (AWG 8) or greater.
Cleaning the unit
If the unit gets dirty, turn off the power and wipe the
panel with a dry silicon cloth or soft cloth.
FCC WARNING
Exposure to Radio Frequency Signals
Autonet Mobile is a low power radio transmitter and receiver.
When it is turned on, it sends out and receives RF signals.
Autonet Mobile complies with FCC guidelines respecting safe
levels of RF exposure for handled wireless devices, which in
turn are consistent with the following safety standards
previously set by certain standards bodies: ·
•
•
•
ANSI/IEEE C95.1-1999, IEEE Standard for Safety
Levels with Respect to Human Exposure to Radio
Frequency Electromagnetic Fields, 3 kHz to 300
GHz; ·
National Counsel on Radiation Protection and
Measurements (NCRP) Report 86, - 1986,
Biological Effects and Exposure criterion for Radio
Frequency Electromagnetic Fields; and ·
International Commission on Non-Ionising
Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) 1988, Guidelines for
limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic,
and electromagnetic fields (up to 300 GHz).
To maintain compliance with FCC exposure guidelines, use
only accessories supplied or approved by Autonet Mobile, Inc.
FCC Compliance Statement
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits
for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules.
These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against
harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a
commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can
radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment
in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which
case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own
expense.
Specific Absorption Rate Data
Autonet Mobile meets U.S. government requirements for
exposure to radio waves. Autonet Mobile is a radio transmitter
and receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceed
the emission limits for exposure to RF energy set by the FCC.
These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and
establish permitted levels of exposure to RF energy for the
general population. These guidelines are based on standards
that were developed by independent scientific organizations
through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies.
The standards include a substantial safety margin designed to
assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to
operate the equipment.

Example Mounting Location
•
The In-Car router is typically mounted in the following
locations.
On the inside rear side panel in an SUV or Van
Under the rear deck lid in a sedan
In the trunk of the vehicle
The unit should be mounted in a location that gives
the antennas the fewest obstructions to the outside
world as possible.
The unit should be mounted so that the Blue LED
and the serial number on the top of the unit are
visible. The use will need access to these when
calling Autonet Mobile Customer Service.
Do NOT install the unit in the following locations:
In a location that interferes with driving
In a location that gets wet
In a dusty location
In a place that gets hot
In a place that gets direct sunlight
In a location that gets hit by hot air
Within 20 cm of any passenger
Do NOT install the unit under the carpet. Otherwise
heat build-up occurs and the unit may be damaged.
Install this unit in a location which allows heat to
easily dissipate. Once installed, do not place any
object on top of the unit.
The surface area of the In-Car router may become
hot during use. Install the unit in a place where
people, resins, and other substances that are
sensitive to heat will not come into contact with it.
When making a hole in a side panel, under a seat, in
the trunk, in the rear deck or somewhere else in the
vehicle, check that there is nothing hazardous on the
opposite side such as a gas tank, brake pipe, battery,
or wiring harness, and be careful not to cause
scratches or other damage.
Do NOT install near the dashboard, rear tray, or air
bag safety parts.
The installation to the vehicle should securely fasten
the unit to a place in which it will not obstruct driving.
If the unit comes off due to a shock and hits a person
or safety part, it may cause injury or an accident.
After installing the unit, check to make sure that
electrical equipment such as the brake lamps, turn
signal lamps and windshield wipers operate normally.
Mounting the In-Car Router
1. Using the self tapping screws attach the unit to the
vehicle.
2. Do NOT over tighten the screws.
3. Ensure that the unit is securely fastened and that it
cannot be dislodged.
Electrical wiring
1. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the
negative terminal of the battery.
Attaching the unit to a side panel
2. Electrical wire must be routed to the power source
in a manner that prevents the wire from being
damaged or nicked in anyway. It should also be
ensured that wire is not exposed in a manner that
may allow it to become snagged or entangled in
any way.
3. Connect the power wire (Red wire) to a circuit that
only provides power when the ignition is turned on.
4. Connect the ground wire (Black wire) to a metal
part of the car chassis that acts as an electrical
ground passing electricity to the battery’s negative
terminal.
5. When the unit is initially powered up, the Blue LED
on top of the unit while come on for a few seconds.
6. Refer to the Users Guide for operational
instructions
