Product Information Sheet Preliminary data sheet Technical specification may be subject to change without notice Bluetooth Access Point TM Axis Communications is entering the wireless communications market. With a unique expertise in network connectivity and strong technology partnerships, Axis is a leader in the converging world of wireless and wired networks. Axis is creating new possibilities for wireless broadband services for users with mobile devices, by offering solutions for local mobile systems. Local mobile systems in this context means access points based on unlicensed radio technologies — such as Bluetooth wireless technology, IEEE 802.11 and HiperLAN/2, and a system platform incorporating system intelligence for security, mobility and access control. The dramatic growth of wireless broadband services based on unlicensed radio technologies is driven by three fundamental industry trends: i Sustained high growth rate for mobile devices — mobile/cell phones, PDAs and laptop computers, due to decreasing investment and usage costs as well as developments in functionality, battery life length and size. i Unlicensed radio technologies are being deployed for short distance wireless voice and data communication, such as Bluetooth wireless technology. i Extensive roll out of broadband access to Internet, for example xDSL, cable modem and Ethernet. Product Description The Bluetooth Access Point from Axis is a wireless access point based on Bluetooth wireless technology supporting both telephony and data services.
