INTRODUCTIONCongratulations on your purchase of the ONELINK WirelessTemperature Sensor. This device senses temperaturechanges ranging between 14˚F to 112˚F (-10˚C to 44˚C). This Quick Start Guide describes how to set up and troubleshoot your Temperature Sensor. For a full system set-up manual, please visit our website: www.onelinkhome.comCONTROLLING YOUR SENSORUsing your computer and the Wireless Gateway, you locally manage yourhome environment with the ONELINK Wireless System. When configured, thesystem can notify you of any new events by sending an e-mail when your Temperature Sensor detects an event (atemperature change) that moves beyond the user specified limits. How It WorksThe Sensor monitors ambient temperature and if the temperature movesbeyond your set temperature range, it sends an event to your WirelessSystem Gateway. When the External Temperature Probe is connected to the Temperature Sensor, the internal sensor element is disabled.INSTALLATION OVERVIEWYour package contains the following:Installing your sensor is a simple process.1. Locate the antenna and screw it into the top-left corner of the sensor untilit is secure. Sharp objects should be stored out of reach of children toprevent injury.2. Insert batteries. On the top of the sensor, slide open the door and inserttwo AAA alkaline batteries. The inside of the sensor indicates the polarity(+ and -) of the batteries. Close the door after inserting batteries. The sensor does not support rechargeable NiCad or NiMH batteries.3. Mount the sensor.Installing Your Wireless Temperature SensorYour sensor can either be mounted on a wall or just sit on a horizontal surface.Wall Mount Your Wireless Temperature SensorWarning: When mounting near a window, drilling too close to the glasscould break the glass and possibly cause it to shatter and cause injury. The window extends deeper into the frame than can be seen; therefore, ensure your screw is beyond the glass before drilling. Thoroughly cleanand dry the surface.1. You can mount the sensor securely using the screwsin the hardware kit. Using the holes on the drillingtemplate found later in this guide, mark the positionof the holes to be drilled. For drywall or other composite surfaces use a 7/32” drill bit. Drill a holefor each of the mounting screws and insert a plasticwall anchor into each hole. For other solid surfaces, use a 1/16” drill bit. Drill a pilot hole for each of the mounting screws.2. Ensure that fresh batteries have been installed.3. Mount the sensor onto the screws and slide up to lock into place.Attaching the Temperature ProbeThe probe, which attaches to the Temperature Sensor, is immersible anddesigned to monitor the temperature of air or water. A pool, aquarium, deep freezer, or baseboard radiator are just a few suggested places to monitor ambient air or water temperature.1. Insert the plug into the bottom of the sensor.2. Place the Temperature Probe in the locationyou wish to monitor.Wall Mount Drilling TemplateMounting tools: Screwdriver, electric drill or awl. On hard surfaces, it is recommended that you pre-drill 1/2-inch deep pilot holes with a drill bitslightly smaller than the bracket mounting screws before securing the bracketto the surface. When mounting a sensor on soft surfaces like sheetrock, usean awl to punch holes in the material slightly smaller than the plastic anchorsincluded in the hardware mounting kit.The illustration is drawn to a one-to-one scale, which means that it provides the exact dimensions required to mount the unit.AAAAAATemperature SensorHardwareMounting KitTemperature Sensor ProbeBatteriesAntennaFeature Locator1.6 mm (1/16 inch)maximum 1QUICK START GUIDETemperature SensorM08-0234-002 07/12Installation HintsPlease consider the following points when mounting the sensor:• The ONELINK Temperature Sensor is constructed for indoor use.• Typically, the sensor’s range is 65-200 feet from the Gateway, dependingon the number of obstacles. These can include metal framing, thick walls, and other wireless devices. TROUBLESHOOTINGProblemLED does not light upSolution• Ensure the batteries are properly inserted with the correct polarity.• Ensure you are using fully charged AAA batteries.ProblemWireless System Gateway does not recognize the sensor during setupSolution• Ensure sensor is powered. Position the sensor in closer proximity to your Wireless System Gateway and try again. Ensure there are no otherwireless devices interfering with the sensor. The sensor transmits on the915 MHz frequency.ProblemEvents are not triggeredSolution• Is the sensor registered with your Wireless Gateway?• Ensure that you have the proper settings configured for the sensorProblemSensor continually sends an eventSolution• Ensure that you have the proper settings configured for the sensor. For example, you have armed the sensor.• The sensor can be configured so that it can send an event when the contacts are closed or when they are opened.FAQHow far away can the sensor be placed from my Wireless SystemGateway?Typically 65 feet (20 meters). Can I place the sensor in a different room than my Wireless SystemGateway?Yes, the sensor and Wireless System Gateway use radio frequencies tocommunicate with each other. These frequencies can go through objects like walls, ceilings and floors. How long will the battery last? The battery is expected to last up to 12 months. This depends on actual useand how often the sensor is triggered. Do not use rechargeable batteries. The light on the sensor is not on?This indicates that the sensor has gone into hibernation mode. It wakes upwhen the sensor is triggered.REGULATORY INFORMATIONFCC Notices:NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
