The pit moduleresponds with its serial number, water meter reading, and transmitsdata in approximately 2.5 seconds. In the event a tamper conditionexists, the Symbol data collector will not receive a reading.PERFORMANCE: The Badger Meter BadgerTouch automated meterreading system offers superior operating performance in pit applica-tions and is designed for totally submerged environments. The pitmodule allows readings under many conditions where ice, sand, or dirtmay impede direct contact with the read pad. For consistent results,interrogation equipment should be placed in direct contact with theremote read pad.METER READING VALIDATION: Further validation of the meterreading can be made automatically by the Symbol based on compari-son of high-low audit fields in the record. If the meter reading is notbetween these predetermined limits, an error message is displayed onthe Symbol display.WIRE CONNECTIONS: The BadgerTouch Single Pit Module isfactory prewired to the ADE and does not require additional wiring inthe field.CONSTRUCTION: The Badger Meter BadgerTouch pit module isconstructed from high impact plastic material that is designed formounting directly through the pit lid. There is a plastic cover that locksthe pit module in place and incorporates a tamper resistant plugfeature. Inside the pit, a plastic locking nut is used to fit the module firmlyin place next to the pit lid. All electronic components internal to theenclosure are encapsulated to provide environmental protection. TheAbsolute Digital Encoder (ADE) provides permanent glass/metalpackaging in a plastic shroud and lid for long lasting, highly reliableencoded meter reading information.LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: This device complies with Part 15 of theFCC Rules. Operation of this device is subject to the following twoconditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and(2) this device must accept any interference received, includinginterference that may cause undesired operation. Any changes madeby the user not approved by Badger Meter can void the user’s authorityto operate the equipment. No license is required by the utility to operatea BadgerTouch meter reading system.
