Location When choosing a location for your new phone, here are some important guidelines you should consider: • Avoid sources of noise and heat, such as motors, fluorescent lighting, microwave ovens, heating appliances and direct sunlight. • Avoid areas of excessive dust, moisture and low temperature. • Avoid other cordless telephones or personal computers. • Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm. • Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations. • Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals, unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface. • Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines. HANDSET RANGE Optional range is reached when there are no other electrical appliances working within the range area. Any obstruction between the base and handset will also reduce the significantly. SIGNAL STRENGTH When out of range of the base, the screen shows SEARCHING…. If you are on a call, the line will hang up. Move back within in range. The handset will automatically re-connect to the base. Setting up IMPORTANT The base station must be plugged into the electrical outlet at all times. Do not connect the telephone line cord into the wall jack until the handset is fully charged. Only use the power adapter and telephone line cord supplied with the product. WHICH POWER ADAPTER? The power adapter with the smaller pin is for the base unit and the power adapter with the bigger pin is for the charger unit. Install and charge the handset battery pack 1. Slide out the battery compartment cover. 2. Place the supplied rechargeable battery pack in the battery compartment. 3. Slide the battery compartment cover back. 4. Put the handset on the base to charge for at least 24 hours. When the handset is fully charged the <Battery icon> will indicate that it is fully charged. 5. Use only the rechargeable battery pack provided. BATTERY LOW WARNING If the <Battery icon> flashes in the display, you will need to recharge the handset before you can use it again. During charging, the <Battery icon> will scroll in the display.

Note that new batteries do not reach full capacity until they have been in normal use for several days. To keep your batteries in the best condition, leave the handset off the base for a few hours at a time. Running the batteries right down at least once a week will help them last as long as possible. The charge capacity of rechargeable batteries will reduce with time as they wear out, giving the handset less talk/standby time. Eventually they will need to be replaced. After charging your handset for the first time, subsequent charging time is about 6–8 hours a day. Batteries and handset may become warm during charging. This is normal. Connecting the base station 1. Connect the handset to the base station with the provided cable (red). 2. Plug the power supply (purple) & line cord (green) into the base station. 3. Plug the other end of power supply & line cord into the wall jack. 4. Always use the cables provided in the box. 5. Use only the provided adapter. Wall mounting on base This phone can be mounted on any standard wall plate. 1. Plug the power supply (purple) & line cord (green) into the base station. 2. Snap the wall mount adapter into the notches on the base’s back. 3. Plug the other end of power supply & line cord into the wall jack. 4. Align the mounting slots on the base with the mounting posts on the wall. Then push in and down until the phone is firmly seated. NOTE DO NOT use a power outlet controlled by a wall switch. Make sure the wall is capable of supporting the weight of the phone, and use the proper type of anchoring device for the wall material.

Whenever there is an incoming call, other operations in progress such as phone settings, menu navigation, etc. will be ended. 3.1.7 Adjust volume 1. During a call, press <Up/Down> to adjust the earpiece or loudspeaker volume. - The level is shown in the base LCD display. 3.1.8 Mute Mute the microphone so that you can talk to someone else in the room without your caller hearing you. 1. NOTE • If the caller’s number is stored in your phonebook along with a name, the name will also be displayed. • If the telephone number is not available for incoming calls, the handset will display UNAVAILABLE. • Information about incoming calls will vary by country and network operator. Some operators may charge a subscription for their Caller ID service. 5.1 Calls List The calls list contains details of missed and received call. Details include the date and time of the call. Entries are displayed in chronological order with the most recent call at the top of the list. NOTE • When the calls list is full, a new call replaces the oldest in the list. • The received and missed calls log holds details of up to 30 calls. • If you receive more than one call from the same number, only the most recent call is kept in the calls list. When you have missed calls (incoming calls that you haven’t answered) the <NEW icon> will be displayed in the display on all handsets registered to the base. Press <Menu> and edit the time in 12 hour format. Press <Up/Down> to toggle AM/PM settings. 3. Press <Menu> to continue entering the date. 4. It can store up to 59 messages within the maximum recording time of 15 minutes. Each message can be up to 3 minutes long. Your personal outgoing messages can be up to 1 minute long. 8.1 Play Messages In idle: 1. Press <Play/Stop>. 2. The new messages are played from the loudspeaker on the base station in the sequence they are recorded. 3. Press <Up> or <Down> to increase or decrease the volume during message playback respectively. 4. During message playback, press below keys to perform the following functions: <Play/Stop>: Press to stop playing messages or resume playback. <Repeat/Annc>: Press once to replay current message from the beginning. When the phone rings and flashes in the display, press <Talk on> or press <Speaker> to answer the call via the loudspeaker. WARNING When the phone is ringing, avoid holding the earpiece too close to your ear as it may damage your hearing. Handsfree activation can suddenly increase the volume in the earpiece to a very high level. Make sure the handset is not too close to your ear. TIPS If Auto Talk mode (see Section 6.6 for more details) is on, simply lift up the handset from its base to answer the call. The default setting is Off. NOTE An incoming call has priority over other events. Some operators may charge a subscription for their Caller ID service. 11.1 Calls List The calls list contains details of missed and received call. Details include the date and time of the call. Entries are displayed in chronological order with the most recent call at the top of the list. NOTE • When the calls list is full, a new call replaces the oldest in the list. • The received and missed calls log holds details of up to 30 calls. • If you receive more than one call from the same number, only the most recent call is kept in the calls list.
