This unit is NOT tobe used for temporary heating of buildings or structures un-der construction.SAFETY CONSIDERATIONSInstallation and servicing of air-conditioning equipment canbe hazardous due to system pressure and electrical compo-nents. Only trained and qualified personnel should install,repair, or service air-conditioning equipment.Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance func-tions of cleaning coils and filters. All other operations shouldbe performed by trained service personnel. When working onair-conditioning equipment, observe precautions in the lit-erature, tags and labels attached to the unit, and other safetyprecautions that may apply.Follow all safety codes. Wear safety glasses and work gloves.Use quenching cloth for unbrazing operations. Have fire ex-tinguisher available for all brazing operations.WARNING: Improper installation, adjustment, alter-ation, service, maintenance, or use can cause carbon mon-oxide poisoning, fire, or an explosion which can resultin personal injury or unit damage. Consult a qualifiedinstaller, service agency, or gas supplier for informa-tion or assistance. The qualified installer or agency mustuse only factory-authorized kits or accessories when modi-fying this product.WARNING: Before performing service or mainte-nance operations on unit, turn off gas supply then unitmain power switch. Electrical shock could cause per-sonal injury.GENERALThe 588A, 589Aunits (see Fig. 1) are fully self-contained, com-bination Category I gas heating/electric cooling units de-signed for outdoor installation. See Fig. 2-9 (pages 2-9) forunit dimensions. All unit sizes have discharge openings forboth horizontal and downflow configurations, and are factoryshipped with all 4 duct openings covered. Units may be in-stalled either on a rooftop or a ground-level cement slab.
