NC 25650 38-3750 I 704-425-3451 I Fax 704-428-2717 PLEASE READ THE QUALIFICATIONS AND WARRANTY STATEMENTS ON THE BACK OF THIS SHEET MOUNTING AND SETUP To mount the WK-700, lirst loosen the screw on the bottom of the housing then lift the front away from the back. Use the holes in the back as a template to locate the mounting points. Attach the back to the wall using the supplied hardware. Disable any oi the keypad‘s three emergency tunctions by cutting the appropriate jumper on the lower right of the circuit board. For the remaining functions, place the identifying sticker in the recess on the front ol the housing as illustrated below. Place the stickers as shown, FlRE on top. POLICE in the middle. and MEDICAL on the bottom. To avoid confusion. always cut the iumper for functions not labeled. Plug the battery pack onto the 2 pin header so its leads match the colors indicated on the circuit board. Slide the pack into the round opening in the circuit board and arrange the wires away from the edge of the housing. When the keypad can be carried away from the control panel, su- pervrsory transmissions should be disabled to increase battery lite. Locate the 3 pin header to the left ot the battery companment and place the jumper over the applicable two pins. Close the housing by engaging the hooks at the top then folding the front closed Gently tighten the screw at the bottom to hold the case together. Installation ol the WK-700 in now complete. Follow the instructions in the control panel manual [or range testing and learning the transmitters ID. I Prat/rem TRANSMIT LEI] EMERGENCY SITGKERS OPERATION The WK-700 is designed to allow remote arm and disarm capabili- ties within a home or small business. The keypad's operation matches the setup tor the system‘s master hardwire keypad. Dis- arm codes, single digit arming. etc., are identical to the master keypad. Each time a key is pressed, the unit will Deep and the transmit LED will light. Four digit User Codes and other key press sequences may be entered Without waiting between presses. The system's armed status will sound over the inside speakers whenever the STATUS key is pressed, To activate an emergency alarm, simultaneously press and hold for 1 second the keys on each side at the label. For ex- ample, a tire alarm is activated by presslng both the STATUS and 1 keys. Hourly supervision signals are sent to the control panel along with the battery condition. BATTERIES The WK7700 is powered by a single battery pack which contains two, CR2450 lithium batteries. Typical shelf life is greater than 10 years. Actual battery Iils will depend on the number of operations and whether coded or single digit arming is used. Average battery life should be about 5 years. Prolonged exposure to temperatures outside of 5°C - 50°C will decrease battery Iile. CONSUMER TESTING THE WK-700 No electronic product can perform better than the a care and maintenance It recelves. Capricorn recomv mends that each installing company otter a periodlc service and maintenance agreement to the end user. Teach your customers how to test each WK—700 installed in their home. The test method depends on the type of installation and how the WK—700 is configured in the system. Customers should be told what action to take it any part of their system fails during normal operation or during regular testing. Complete testing of all pans of the system should be performed no less than once per month. In some cases, more Irequent tests may be appropriate tor the customer. Only the on-site installing person- nel can make this determination. For installation testing, reler to the system‘s Installation Manual and User Instructions for more information. These manuals also contain detailed inlormation on operating and installing RF devices. UNDERSTANDING RADIO FREQUENCY DEVICES Although radio transmission links have proven themselves by pro- viding dependable commu tion, both customer and installer need to understand their Ilm tions and restrictions before using the system. Additional RF information is supplied with each sys~ tam's Installation Manual. Radio reception characteristics of the system may be changed when electronic devices, home computers, large appliances, mirrors, toll wallpaper, etc., are added or moved within the home. Have your customer consult with you If they have any concerns when making changes at this nature. Some of the areas you should be aware of are: 1. Transmitters have limited power and therefore limited range because they must comply with FCC Rules and Regulations as Part 15 devtces. (cont‘d on next page) 2. The WK-700‘s batteries must be replaced when indicated by low battery transmissions. 3. Because conditions in the customer home may change, ponable transmitters should be tested from all anticipated operating locations during both the installation tests and dur- ing routine testing. 4. Periodic testing will reveal any new source of interference or a failure of the system. 5. Receivers may be blocked by other signals occurring near their operating frequency, 6. The receiver can only respond to one transmitter signal at a time, IMPORTANT Before using this product, read both the Installer Qualifications statement and the product Warranty and its limitations of remedies which follow. it you do not agree with what they say, promptly re- turn this product. Use of this product indicates that you have ac- cepted the terms of the warranty. INSTALLER QUALIFICATIONS The product(s) described In this Ilyer should be installed only by a qualified, adequately trained security installer who is lamiliar with this class ol product. Correct installation and customer education is vital to the proper operation of a security system. It is the re- sponsibility of the purchaser of this equipment to In- sure that any individual who places this product into service ls fully trained and qualified. The on-site installer/dealer, in consultation with the end user, must make the necessary decisions on system configuration and protec- tion level. The installer must take care to follow industry accepted installation practices and procedures as well as comply with local and state regulations. The general knowledge required tor proper installation of any security product should be obtained lrom local, state or regional training/Ii- censing classes, classes provided by security industry associations and/or on the job apprenticeship at established installing compan— ies. Business insurance coverage for your installations should be obtained through your local agent or through agents recommended by security industry associations. LIMITED WARRANTY Capricorn Electronics. Inc. warrants that this product of its man- ufacture will be lree from defects in material and workmanship un- der normal use and service for the 24 months immediately lollowing the date code printed on the label on the product.
