Replace Remote Interface Device (RID) Battery NOTE Remote Interface Device (RID) is approved for this application by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). FCC ID: 2AMDR00079. This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications to this device, not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance, could void the user's authority to operate the equipment Expected battery life is 6 to 8 months, assuming normal usage. More frequent operation will shorten battery life. Medium to large tweezers, or a small blade screwdriver, and a Panasonic CR2430 battery (or equivalent) are needed to perform this procedure. REMOVAL 1. Begin to slide cover (3, Figure 4G1) from Remote Interface Device (RID) (1, Figure 4G1) to expose battery cover (2, Figure 4G1). Figure 4G1. Removing Interface Device Cover
2. Remove RID (1, Figure 4G2) from cover (2, Figure 4G2). Figure 4G2. RID Removed From Cover 3. Insert tip of medium tweezers (2, Figure 4G3) between battery cover (1, Figure 4G3) and RID body (3, Figure 4G3), and begin to pry battery cover from RID body. Figure 4G3. Prying Battery Cover From RID Body
4. Fully raise the battery cover (1, Figure 4G4) from the RID Body (2, Figure 4G4). Figure 4G4. RID Battery Cover Raised From Body 5. Remove battery cover (2, Figure 4G5) from RID body (1, Figure 4G5). Figure 4G5. RID Cover Removed 6. Using tip of medium tweezers (1, Figure 4G6), blade screwdriver, or finger nail, carefully begin to slide battery (2, Figure 4G6) out of the RID (3, Figure 4G6). Figure 4G6. Removing RID Battery
  7. Grasp battery (1, Figure 4G7) with fingers when loose, then pull it from the RID (2, Figure 4G7). Discard old battery according to local requirements. Figure 4G7. RID Final Battery Removal
INSTALLATION NOTE Panasonic CR2430 battery (or equivalent) must be installed with the correct polarity or the RID will not work. If installed with reverse polarity, the battery and RID will not be damaged. The remote simply will not work. 8. Check polarity of battery (1, Figure 4G8) before insertion. Positive pole is marked with a “+” (plus) on the side with printing (2, Figure 4G8). Figure 4G8. Checking RID Battery Polarity 9. Slide new battery (2, Figure 4G9) into the RID (1, Figure 4G9). Push until firmly seated. Figure 4G9. RID Battery Installed
10. Insert lip at rear of battery cover (1, Figure 4G10) into RID (2, Figure 4G10). Figure 4G10. Replacing Battery Cover 11. Lower battery cover (1, Figure 4G11) and press down to lock it. You should hear a “click”. Figure 4G11. Battery Cover Closed 12. Insert assembled RID (1, Figure 4G12) into cover (2, Figure 4G12). Figure 4G12. Inserting RID Into Cover
