OverviewThe PIR Motion Sensor only works withChamberlain's Wireless Pedestrian & Vehicle Alertwith Voice (Model RWV400R). The PIR MotionSensor can be used to monitor motion up to 30' awayand can transmit a signal up to 1000' away from theBase Station (not included). The Passive Infra-Redsensor detects movement of people and vehicles, while allowing small animals to pass throughundetected. The PIR Motion Sensor has a built-inmicrophone and speaker that allows forcommunication between the Base Station and theSensor. When the PIR Motion Sensor detectsmovement a signal is sent to the base station whichalerts the homeowner with sounds and lights. TheAlert can also remotely control an electrical devicenear the PIR Motion Sensor like a light or a camera (See Advanced Features).Passive Infra-Red (PIR) Motion Sensor1Swivel BushingMounting PlateOperation & FeaturesIntercom Feature: When PIR Motion Sensor hasdetected motion, the Base Station will allow you tolisten through the PIR Motion Sensor for 10 seconds. If you wish to talk to the person on the other end, hold down the Talk button and speak, releasing it tohear.Volume: Pressing the Volume button repeatedly willcycle through volume levels.Mute: To temporarily mute Base Station, hold theVolume and Talk buttons down for three seconds. TheBase Station will reactivate after one hour, or bypressing the Talk button.Remote Button: If there is an accessory deviceconnected to the relay on the PIR Motion Sensor, itcan be activated by pressing the Remote buttonwithin 30 seconds of the signal from the alert buzzer.Switch #1:Switch #2:Battery: The AA Alkaline batteries (not provided) willlast up to 2 years depending on use (Lithium batteriesrecommended for colder environments). If PIR MotionSensor batteries are low Base Station will emit threehigh-pitch beeps every ten minutes. If Base Stationbatteries are low it will emit two high-pitch beeps.Clear Memory: Press and hold the Learn button onthe Base Station until 3 beeps are heard. If PIRMotion Sensor signals while Learn button is pressed, repeat the procedure.Programming Additional PIR Motion Sensors:Each Base Station can learn the code of up to 8 PIRMotion Sensors, responding with multiple buzzes. Advanced FeaturesBoth the PIR Motion Sensor and Base Station haverelays which can activate other electrical devices. Therelay switches can handle up to 120 AC volts at 10amps. The accessory device will need a separatepower supply. Base Station:The relays can be used to activate louder alarm bells, lights, cameras, or other accessories.PIR Motion Sensor: The relays will only activate when the remote button is pressed on the Base Station. Toprevent access to these relays flushmount the PIR Motion Sensor.3TroubleshootingThe Alert does not function.Check batteries in PIR Motion Sensor. Ensure BaseStation has power. Ensure PIR Motion Sensor isprogrammed to Base Station. The Alert is not getting expected transmissionrange.Ensure Base Station antenna is vertical and keep PIRMotion Sensor away from trees and metal objects.Ensure Base Station is in clearest possible range ofPIR Motion Sensor. The less objects betweendevices, the longer the range.Base Station is not very loud.Adjust the volume of speaker. An accessory such as abell, buzzer or light can be attached to the relayswitch. The relay switch can handle up to 120 ACvolts at 10 amps. The accessory device will needseparate power supply.Static and feedback is heard in Base Station.PIR Motion Sensor is too close to the Base Station. The PIR Motion Sensor is detecting motion onlypart of the time.To detect cars, it is best to mount PIR Motion Sensorat height of car’s motor and have it between ten andtwenty feet from the road. Swivel sensor as needed. The Alert is giving false alarms.Check for moving tree branches or insects in sensorwindow. PIR sensor can also be triggered by lightshining directly in sensor window, such as reflectedsunlight, or motion in front of a light source.Base Station beeps every ten minutes. If there are two beeps the battery is low in the BaseStation. Replace with AA Alkaline batteries or operateit with AC Adapter. If there are three beeps the batteryis low in the PIR Motion Sensor. Replace with AAAlkaline batteries.
