(801) 495-2200.
Based on the kit purchased, a combinaion of the following components will be included with the CR2600:
Charging Staion with
Embedded CodeXML® Modem
Weighted
Base Plate
Screws
Charging Staion
CodeXML® M3 Modem
with USB or RS232 cable
USB Cable
Batery
Power Supply
Rubber Feet
2.0 - Charging Staion Assembly Instrucions
1. Plug the barrel side of the USB charge cable or power supply (depending on which you ordered) into the charger. (Figure 2)
2. (Opional) Atach the weighted base. Place the ‘This Side Down’ (Figure 3) side of the weighted base onto the surface, and place the
Charging Staion on top of it. (Figure 1) and secure with the screws provided. (Figure 4)

Figure 4
Figure 5
Figure 6
3. Rubber feet can be placed on the corners of the weighted base (Figure 5) or directly onto the Charging Staion (Figure 6) to
prevent slipping from a surface.
4. (Opional) Mouning the Charging Staion to a Surface. Place the ‘This Side Down’ (Figure 3) side of the weighted base onto the
surface, and secure with screws. Note: Because surface types difer, screws are not included to mount a Charging Staion to a
surface.
5. Place the Charging Staion on top of the weighted base (Figure 1) and secure the Charging Staion to the base with the screws
provided (Figure 4)
Note: The weighted base has the same pre-drilled mouning holes as the ECS-H and UMC Chargers.

8.0 - Communicaion Mode Switch
Charging Staions with an embedded modem feature a Communicaion Modem Switch. The
Communicaion Mode Switch allows the reader to transmit data through either the modem or wired
connecion.
When the Communicaion Mode Switch is moved to the right, in the direcion of the arrow, the reader will
communicate via the modem. The QuickConnect code located on the front of the Charging Staion must
be scanned to establish a Bluetooth connecion. Scanned data will then be transmited to the host device
wirelessly.
If a wired connecion is needed, move the Communicaion Mode Switch to the let. For USB Downloader
or Keyboard mode, the Batch Mode Enable code must be scanned (refer to Secion 10). To transmit
scanned data while in wired mode, the reader must be placed into the Charging Staion before data can be
transmited to the host device.

9.0 - Communicaing in USB Downloader (HID) Mode
CR2600 irmware and coniguraion seings can be managed via USB Downloader (HID) Mode using Code’s CortexTools™.
To communicate in USB Downloader (HID) Mode with a CR2600 and Charging Staion, skip step 1 and proceed to step 2.
For the CR2600 to communicate in wired, USB Downloader (HID) Mode with a Charging Staion with embedded CodeXML®
modem:
1. Move the Communicaion Mode Switch to the let (opposite direcion of the arrow) on the Charging Staion (Figure 19).
2. Open CortexTools™. (Contact appeng@codecorp.com for a CR2600 compaible version)
3. Scan the USB Downloader (HID) Mode coniguraion bar code.

4. Dock the reader into the Charging Staion.
5. Follow the instrucions detailed in the CortexTools™ User Manual, available from
www.codecorp.com.
10.0 - Communicaing in Batch Mode via USB Communicaion Mode
The CR2600 can be conigured for Batch Mode to capture and transmit data via USB Communicaion Modes. To communicate in
USB Downloader (HID) Mode with a CR2600 and Charging Staion, skip step 1 and proceed to step 2.
For the CR2600 to communicate in wired, USB Downloader (HID) Mode with a Charging Staion with embedded CodeXML®
modem:
1. Move the Communicaion Mode Switch to the let (opposite direcion of the arrow) on the Charging Staion (Figure 19).

4. To transmit the captured data to CortexTools™ on your host device, place reader into charging staion. The reader will wait 5
seconds before transmiing data. The 5 second delay allows the host device to prepare to receive the data.
11.0 - Batch Mode Indicators
When the CR2600 is in batch/storage mode, the storage icon (Figure 22) will lash every 10 seconds to indicate data has been
stored. If batch memory is full, the storage icon will lash 5 imes every second. Data will need to be downloaded or deleted to
free memory space.
Note: The storage icon will only lash if data has been stored.

Important Note If Using a non-Code Bluetooth Device:
To connect to a Bluetooth device not manufactured by Code, you will need the Bluetooth address (oten referred to as the BD_ADDR)
of that device. The 12-character Bluetooth address can be found on the device near the serial number. Then visit Code’s website at:
htp://www.codecorp.com/bdaddr.php and enter the 12-character address to create the QuickConnect Code.
You will need to locate the Communicaions (COM) Port assigned to the Bluetooth serial port protocol before installing the Bluetooth
Coniguraion Manager sotware that is included with your Bluetooth adapter (e.g., COM 10). This is the COM Port through which the
CR2600 will connect.

21.0 - CR2600 Maintenance
The CR2600 needs only minimum maintenance to operate. The ips below for maintenance suggesions.
Cleaning the CR2600
The CR2600 window should be clean to allow the best performance of the device. The window is the clear plasic piece inside the
head of the reader. Avoid touching the window. Your CR2600 uses CMOS technology that is much like a digital camera. A dirty
window may stop the CR2600 from reading bar codes.
If the window becomes dirty, clean it with a sot, non-abrasive cloth or a facial issue (no loions or addiives) that has been
moistened with water. A mild detergent may be used to clean the window, but the window should be wiped with a water moistened
cloth or issue ater using the detergent.
The following agents are approved to clean a Code bar code reader:
1) Alcohol Wipes
2) Clorox® Non-Bleach Disenfecing Wipes
3) Clorox Bleach Soluion (10% Clorox bleach, 90% tap water)
4) Medical DiAirKem
5) Sani-Cloth® HB, Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal, Sani-Cloth® Plus Germicidal Disposable Wipes
6) Virex® II Disinfectant Cleaner
Technical Support and Returns
To modify any default seings, download the CR2600 Coniguraion guide at www.codecorp.com/iles.php and scan the appropriate
code. For user speciic coniguraions, contact Applicaion Engineering at Code appeng@codecorp.com.
For all returns Code will issue an RMA number which must be placed on the packing slip when the reader is returned.
