FCC RF EXPOSURE INFORMATION In August 1996 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States with its action in Report and Order FCC 96-326 adopted an updated safety standard for human exposure to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy emitted by FCC regulated transmitters. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standard previously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies. The design of this phone complies with the FCC guidelines and these international standards. Use only the supplied or an approved antenna. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or attachments could impair call quality, damage the phone, or result in violation of FCC regulations. Do not use the phone with a damaged antenna. Body-worn Operation This device was tested for typical body-worn operations. 5IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATON Some of the following information may not apply to your particular product. However, as with any electronic product, you should observe safety precautions when you use this product.  Save this manual : it contains important safety information and operating instructions.  Before using this product, please follow and adhere to all warnings, safety and operating instructions located on the product and in this User’s Manual.  Do Not expose the product to water or moisture.  Do Not expose the product to extreme hot or cold temperatures.  Do Not expose the product to open flames.  Do Not allow objects to fall on, or liquids to spill on the product.  Use only Original Accessories. Damage from use of non-approved accessories will void your phone warranty.  Connect the approved charger only to designed power sources as marked on the product.  To reduce the risk of damage, remove the electrical cord from an outlet by pulling the charger rather than the cord.  Make sure the electric cord is located so that it will not be subjected to damage.  To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the product from the power source before attempting any cleaning. Once unplugged, use a soft cloth dampened with water.  DANGER : Never alter the cord or plug. If the plug will not fit into the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Improper connection can result in electric shock.  Do Not attempt to disassemble the product – doing so will void the warranty. This product does not contain consumer-serviceable components. Service should be performed only by Authorized Service Centers.  Do Not remove the antenna. A detached antenna may be a choking hazard for children.  Do Not allow battery to be placed in the mouth. Electrolytes could release and may be toxic if swallowed.

7 Active Flip : Just open the flip to answer an incoming call, and close the flip to hang up. You can also set the flip to turn the backlight on and off. LED Indicator : Flashes to indicate an incoming call or message. Also lights up (flashes) when you turn on the phone. Volume/Scroll Keys : This keys are used to set volume levels, a etiquette mode and help you navigate through Menus and the phone book. Press the volume keys to : - Go to Etiquette mode to press “” key while flip closed. - Adjust voice volume during conversation. - Adjust key tone volume in Standby mode. - Answer the incoming call. - Scroll through menu options. - Scroll through your Internal Phone Book. Backlit LCD Screen : The LCD screen contains two areas; - The bottom line displays indications about your phone’s operating mode. - The upper area displays in-use information such as the other party’s number of the other party (if available), Mute, Call Waiting, etc. Your menus also display in the upper area. Nemu Key : This key performs several useful functions. - During incoming calls, press it to answer the incoming call. - From Standby mode, press it briefly to access Main Menu and Select menus. - When navigating a menu, press it to select the highlighted selection. SMS Key : When in Standby mode, press this key to access Message Menu items. - During incoming calls, press it to answer the incoming call. - From Standby mode, press it briefly to access Message Services. - When navigating a menu, press it to go back to previous menu. Navigation Keys : This key is similar to the volume key. Press “” key to scroll “up”, and press “” key to scroll “down”. And use it to scan
8menu options, Last 10 numbers dialed, Call Stack or to move the cursor when editing. As shown in the illustration, there are several keys that can be used to scroll. Microphone : Your typical voice microphone for conversation and you can also mute the microphone during conversation by pressing “MENU” “4”. Accessory Connector : The location where you connect your charging device. CLR Key : This key is used to erase numbers or characters you may have entered incorrectly, or to return to a previous screen. - To erase one character from the display screen, briefly press it once. - To erase all of them, hold it for one second. - To back up one menu level, press it once. - To return to Standby mode, hold it for one second. END/ Key : Press this key to disconnect a call or to return to Standby mode from any menu. Press and hold this key to turn the phone On or Off. SEND Key : This key performs several useful functions. - Dial a number and press it to connect. - Press it once to redial the last outgoing number. Antenna : Makes the call sound clearest when it’s fully Extended.
9DISPLAY INDICATORS Display indicators appear across the bottom of your phone’s LCD screen. These display indicators (or icons) will vary based your phone’s operating mode. Signal strength : This icon shows your current signal strength. More lines indicate more signal strength. Four lines indicate maximum strength, and one line indicates least strength. No service indicator : This icon indicates your phone cannot find a signal because you’re outside a service area. When this is displayed, you cannot make or receive calls. Wait a little while for a signal or move into an open area. Roaming : This icon indicates you are “roaming” on to other carrier’s service area. But you must resister the roaming service. Message indicator : This icon indicates you have message(s) waiting. Press SMS Menu button to see the message menu, or press and hold to be connected to voicemail. Digital mode : This icon indicates your phone is operating in digital mode. If you are in analog service area, “D” will be disappeared. Ring mode : This icon means that an incoming call will ring the phone along with LED lightening. LED lightening mode : This icon means that an incoming call will light the LED on top of the front cabinet rather than ring it. Vibrator on : This icon means that an incoming call will vibrate the phone rather than ring it or before/after the phone ring. (Vibration+LED, Vibration after Bell, Bell after Vibration) Etiquette mode on : This icon means that an incoming call will vibrate the phone rather than ring it. This feature is good for quiet situations where you don’t want your ringer to disturb anyone. Alarm on : This icon means that you set the alarm On. Battery strength : This icon shows the level of your battery charge. The more black bars you see the greater the charge. When the battery becomes very low, an empty box appears and the phone flashes an alert.
10 BATTERY INFORMATION Your phone comes with a partially charged, rechargeable Lithium Ion (LiIon) Battery so that you can use the phone immediately after it is activated. Installing the Battery. To attach the battery to your phone : 1. Hold the battery so that metal contacts on the base of the battery line up with the metal contacts on the base of the phone. 2. Place the battery on the back of the phone with the top of the battery about a quarter of an inch from the latch. 3. Gently slide the battery toward the top of the phone until it snaps into place. Charging the Battery. You can tell whether or not your battery needs to be recharged by checking the lower-right corner of your phone’s display. When the battery charge level gets low, the battery sensor will let you know by blinking the battery icon and sounding a warning tone. If the battery level gets too low, the phone will turn off automatically. Unfortunately, if this happens you’ll lose whatever you were just doing, including dropping your call. Watch the battery strength icon and make sure your battery is adequately charged. Charging with the Single-Slot Desktop Charger. Use only Vacom approved chargers and adapters with your phone. Use of any unauthorized accessories may be dangerous and will invalidate the phone warranty if said accessories cause damage or a defect to the phone. To charge the battery using the Single-Slot Desktop Charger : - Plug the power cord of the charger into a wall outlet. - Insert the entire phone with battery attached or a single battery into the cradle of the charger.
11 If you charge the battery while it is attached to your phone, a green LED on the charger denotes that the battery has completed its charge cycle. A completely discharged standard battery recharges fully in approximately tbd hours. The extended battery recharges in approximately tbd hours. Leaving your phone powered on during charging, or charging batteries simultaneously, increases charging time. Leaving the battery in the charger once it is fully charged does not harm the battery. Turning your phone on and off. When you’re ready to turn your phone on, fully extend the antenna for best reception. Press and hold “END/ ” until the LED comes on and the phone sounds. When the phone has found a signal, the “ ” icon appears. Once the phone is on, it enters Standby mode, which is the phone’s idle state. You can make and receive calls now. To turn your phone off, press and hold “END/ ” until the LED comes on and the phone sounds, then the display will goes blank. When the phone is turned off, nothing is displayed on the screen. Note : If “END/ ” is pressed for less than one second, the phone will not turn off. This helps your phone from being turned off accidentally. Standby mode. Standby is the most basic state of your phone. The phone goes into standby mode soon after you turn it on, or whenever you briefly press “END/ ”. When your phone is in Standby mode, you will typically see the banner (that’s the message displayed when you turn on your phone). If you enter a phone number, you can press “SEND” to dial it, or press “SMS key (…)”to save it in the internal phone book. Power Save mode. Your phone comes with a Power Save feature that will automatically be activated if your phone is unable to find a signal after 15 minutes of searching. While this feature is active, the phone’s battery charge is conserved. The phone will automatically recheck for a signal periodically. To manually force the phone to
12 recheck for a signal, press any key. A message on the display will let you know when the phone is operating in Power Save mode. Conversation Mode. You can place and answer calls only when your phone is powered on. During a call, the phone is in Conversation mode.
13 BASIC FUNCTIONS Making a Call. To place a call : Press and hold “END/ ” to power on your phone. If you see indicators on the display that means the phone is on. Enter the phone number (up to 32 digits) by pressing the digit keys. The phone number displays from left to right. Press “SEND”. The phone places the call to the entered phone number (if service is available). You can also make calls ; From your Phone Book (see “V. Phone Book.” on page ) From your Call Stack list (see “Using Caller ID” on page ) By using One-, Two-, or Three-Touch Dialing (see “Speed Dialing” on page ). Ending a Call. To end a call, close the flip or press “END/ ”. The call time (length of the call) displays, along with the name and number of the called party (if available). The phone returns to Standby mode automatically. Answering a Call. To answer an incoming call, open the flip or also press any key. If your phone is registered in Caller ID, a caller’s phone number is displayed on the display. If a caller’s number is stored in Phone Book, the caller’s name is displayed. Correcting Dialing Mistakes. To correct a misdialed digit, press “CLR” to erase one digit at a time. You can erase all the digits at once by pressing “CLR” and holding it down for at least one second. Storing Phone Numbers Phone numbers for frequently used services are pre-programmed into your phone. To store a number,
14 - After dialing a number, press SMS (…) key. Then you can see “New or Append?” on the display. - Select “NEW” or select “APPEND” if you want to edit. - Once you see “Choose Type”, select among “HOME”, “MOBILE” and “OFFICE”. - If you chose “APPEND”, you can see numbers and names you stored already. Select one to edit. - Once you select among “HOME”, “MOBILE” and “OFFICE”, you see “Location ???” and location numbers. - Press “OK” button. Then select “NAME”, “E-MAIL” and “NUMBER EDIT” to store a name, e-mail address and a number if you want to edit. - Press “STO (…)” and choose a group type (BUSINESS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, ETC) by press “OK ()” key. - Then you can see a total number of used and empty locations and a message that the number you wanted to store was stored successfully. And it goes to stand-by mode. - For more information, see “Phone Book” on page . Adjusting Microphone volume during a call To adjust Microphone volume during a call, - During a call, press “MENU ()” key. - Select “Increase Mic” or “Decrease Mic”. - Press “” to increase Mic or press “” to decrease Mic volume. - Or simply press “*” or “#” to increase and decrease Mic volume after pressing “MENU ()” key. - Once you hang up a phone, the Mic volume goes back to factory setting level. Adjusting Voice Volume. You can adjust the earpiece volume during a call using the volume keys on the side of the phone. Briefly pressing the volume key once displays your earpiece volume. Repeatedly press the volume key to adjust. Last Number Redial You can redial up to 10 last numbers. If you want to redial the last call you made, simply press “SEND” once. Or if you want to redial the last 10 calls you made, - Press “” on standby mode. Then you can see last 10 numbers on logs.
15 - Press “VIEW ()” key to see the time you called and the number. - Simply press “SEND” key to redial the number you select. Speed Dialing Once you stored phone numbers in your phone by using Phone Book, you can make a call by pressing One-, Two- or Three-Touch Dialing. Press a location number you stored, then your phone automatically connect you to the phone number you want to call. Note : There are three phone numbers you can store in one location number, “Home”, “Office”, “Mobile”. Once you press a location number to call, your phone will connect the number, which you stored first. For example, if you store a number under “Home”, “Office” and “Mobile” orderly, your phone will connect to “Home” number. Using Caller ID. This feature tells you who is calling you by displaying the caller’s number when the phone rings. If a caller’s name and number are stored in your Phone Book, the corresponding name is also displayed. If you call someone who has this feature, your phone number will be displayed on their phone. To see the last call numbers you received, - press “”. Then you see the last 10 number you received. - Select one of them to see the time you received and a name if possible. - To redial, press “SEND”.
16 MENUS I. SEARCH MENU Last call numbers - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “1. Outgoing”. Then you can see the last 10 numbers you dialed. It is the same function as “Last 10 number redial” on page . - Select one of the numbers to see the time you dialed and the name. - Press “SEND” key to redial. Last call numbers you received - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “2. Incoming”. Then you can see the last 10 numbers you received. It is the same function as “Using Caller ID” on page . - Select one of the numbers to see the time you received and the name if possible. - Press “SEND” key to redial. Group Menu You can find a number you stored in Phone Book. - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “3. Group”. Then you can see “Choose Group” on the display. - Scroll “” or “” on the front cabinet or volume keys to select “BUSINESS”, “FRIEND”, “FAMILY ” or “ETC”. - Once you select “BUSINESS”, “FRIEND”, “FAMILY ” or “ETC”, you can see the numbers you stored and defined only as “BUSINESS”, “FRIEND”, “FAMILY ” or “FAMILY ”. - Place the cursor on the number you want to dial by scrolling “” and “” and press “SEND” to dial. - Or press “VIEW ()” to delete or edit. - How to use “Phone Book”, see “V. Phone Book” on page . ABC Sequence Menu You can find a number you stored in Phone Book by using ABC sequence.
17 - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “4. ABC sequence”. Then you can see the numbers you stored alphabetically. - Scroll “” or “” on the front cabinet or volume keys to choose a number. - Place the cursor on the number you want and press “SEND” to dial. - Or press “VIEW ()” to delete or edit. Name Search Menu You can find a number you stored in Phone Book by entering a name. - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “5. Name”. - Enter the name you want to call. - If you don’t remember the full name, just enter the first letter of the name, then your phone will show you all similar names. - Press “SEND” to dial. - Or press “VIEW ()” to delete or edit. Location Search Menu You can find a number you stored in Phone Book by locations. - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “6. Location”. - Enter the location number you want to find. - Press “SEND” to dial. - Or press “VIEW ()” to delete or edit. - If a number is not stored in the location, “Empty Location” is shown on the display. Search by Phone number You can find a number’s information you stored in Phone Book by entering a phone number. - Press “MENU ()”, “1. Search” and select “7. Number”. - Enter the number you want to see. Then you will see the name and location. - Press “SEND” to dial. - Or press “VIEW ()” to delete or edit. - If the number is not stored in the location, a warning tone is sounded and “No Number Matches” is shown on the display.
18 II. PHONE SETTING MENU Greeting Type You can have the phone display various welcome greeting on stand-by mode. To edit the greeting on stand-by mode: - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “2. Greeting Type”. - Then you can choose 7 kinds of different greeting types as below; Greeting & Time Analog Clock Digital Clock Background Pic 1 Background Pic 2 Background Pic 3 Background Pic 4 - Select one of them, then you can see it on stand-by mode. Text Edit (Banner) You can edit the banner on the display on Stand-by mode (if you choose ‘Greeting & Time’, “VACOM WIRELESS” is displayed on top of the display). To edit the banner; - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting”, “1. Greeting Edit” and “1. Text Edit”. - Press “EDIT (…)” key and enter or edit the text that you want to display on stand-by mode. - Once you enter or edit the text, press “STO ()” and choose a banner position and press “OK ()” to store. Icon Changes You can change icons that are displayed on the display with “Analog Clock” and “Digital Clock” of the greeting types. To change icons; - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting”, “1. Greeting Edit” and “2. Icon Change”. - Select a icon by scrolling “” or “”. There are 40 icon types. - Once you select an icon, you can see it on stand-by mode.
19 Menu Type You can change a display type of Menu as text or graphics. To change menu types, - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “3. Menu Type”. - Select “Text” or “Graphic”. - Then you can see on the display once you press “Menu ()”. Language You can choose between three different languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese) for text shown in the display. To change languages, - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “4. Language Set”. - Select “English”, “Spanish” or “Portuguese”. - Press “OK ()” to set. Back Light You can set backlighting of LCD display and the keypad to stay on continuously or automatically turn off in 5 and 10 seconds. To set back light; - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “5. Backlight”. - Select “10 seconds”, “5 seconds”, “always on” or “always off”. - Press “OK ()” to set. Auto Answer The “Auto Answer” function lets you select to answer calls automatically after 5, 10, and 15 seconds from the first ring. It helps you to answer a call while you are driving. To set “Auto Answer”; - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “6. Auto Answer”. - Select “After 5 secs”, “After 10 secs”, “After 15 secs” or “off”. - Press “OK ()” to set. Auto Redial The “Auto Redial” function makes a call be redialed after 5 second automatically if a call is not connected. To set “Auto Redial”; - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “7. Auto Redial”.
20 - Select “Setup” for On or “Release” for Off. - Press “OK ()” to set. Current Time If you are in service area, your phone shows you current time receiving from Base Station. While you are out of service area, you can set the time as below; - Press “Menu ()”, “2. Phone Setting” and “8. Current Time”. - Enter the month, day, year, time, minute and AM/PM orderly. - Press “OK ()” to set.
21 III. SOUND MENU Incoming Ring You can set incoming rings in 5 different types (Bell+Lamp, Vibration+Lamp, BellàVibration, VibrationàBell, Lamp). - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound” and “1. Incoming Ring”. - Select “Bell+Lamp”, “Vibration+Lamp”, “BellàVibration”, “VibrationàBell” or “Lamp”. - Press “OK ()” to set. Ring Type This option enables you to set a ring type for incoming calls in 11 different bells and 15 different melodies. - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound” and “2. Ring Type”. - Scroll “” and “” to select bell types. While you scroll, you can hear bells and melodies. - Press “OK ()” to set. Volume Volume option allows you to set the level of the ring volume, the key volume and the call volume. - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound” and “3. Volume”. - Select “Ring Volume”, “Key Volume” or “Call Volume”. - Scroll “” and “” to increase or decrease the volume level. - Press “SEL ()” to set. Alert Setting 1. Connect Beep “Connect Beep” option allows you to hear a torn when a call is connected. - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound”, “4. Alert Setting” and “1. Connect Beep”. - Select “CALL CONNECT SOUND?” on or off. - Press “OK ()” to set. 2. Call Drop
22 “Call Drop” option allows you to hear a warning torn when a call is disconnected occasionally or when the caller hangs up the phone. - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound”, “4. Alert Setting” and “2. Call Drop”. - Select “CALL DROP ALERT” on or off. - Press “OK ()” to set. 3. 1 Min. Alert “1 Min. Alert” option allows you to hear a torn every 1 minute while you are calling. - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound”, “4. Alert Setting” and “3. 1 Min. Alert”. - Select “MINUTE ALERT” on or off. - Press “OK ()” to set. 4. Roaming “Roaming Alert” option allows you to hear a warning torn when you moves to other carriers service area, which you registered for roaming service. - Press “Menu ()”, “3. Sound”, “4. Alert Setting” and “4. Roaming”. - Select “ROAMING ALERT?” on or off. - Press “OK ()” to set.
23 IV. SECURITY FUNCTION Your phone provides many security options, including a user-programmable lock code and call restriction features. To access the Security menu in Standby mode, press “Menu ()” and “4. Security”. And enter the four-digit password. Note : The password is “0000” if you don’t have your phone number yet. Or the last 4 digits of your number if you already have you phone number. If you want to change the password, see “New Password” on page . Auto Lock Locking the phone limits all outgoing calls except calls to the three hard-coded emergency numbers (911). You can lock the phone manually during use, or set the phone to lock automatically when it is turned on. When the phone is in Lock mode, you can answer incoming calls, but you must unlock the phone to place outgoing calls (except to emergency). - Press “Menu ()” and “4. Security” and enter the password. - Press “1. Auto Lock”. - Select “SET AUTO LOCK” as “never”, “always” or “on power up”. - Press “OK ()” to set. Notes 1) “always” – you must unlock the phone to place outgoing calls. “on power up” – the phone is locked automatically when it is turned on. “never” – the phone is unlocked. Note 2) Or you can simply lock your phone by pressing and holding “#” on standby mode. It is same as “always” option. New Password If you want to change the password, - Press “Menu ()” and “4. Security” and enter the password. - Press “2. New Password” and enter the new 4-digit password. - Press “OK ()”, then you can see “CONFIRM NEW PASSWORD”. - Enter the new password again and press “OK ()” to set. Restrict
24 Your phone provides a wide variety of call limiting options in the Security menu. These options give you powerful tools to manage your phone. 1. Send Call : You can set your phone to make all outgoing calls or to restrict outgoing calls. - Press “Menu ()” and “4. Security” and enter the password. - Press “3. Restrict” and “1. Send Call”. - Choose “OUTGOING CALL RESTRICT RELEASE” or “OUTGOING CALL RESTRICT SETUP”. - Press “OK ()” to set. 2. Receive Call : You can set your phone to receive all incoming calls or to not receive incoming calls. - Press “Menu ()” and “4. Security” and enter the password. - Press “3. Restrict” and “2. Receive Call”. - Choose “INCOMING CALL RESTRICT RELEASE” or “INCOMING CALL RESTRICT SETUP”. - Press “OK ()” to set. 3. Privacy : You can set your phone to make an international call or to not make an international call. - Press “Menu ()” and “4. Security” and enter the password. - Press “3. Restrict” and “3. Schedule Manager Schedule Manager option supports you to manage your schedule with your phone. To set or edit a schedule, - Press “Menu ()” and select “5. Phone Book” and “1. Sched. Manager”. 1. Schedule Input : - Select “1. Schedule Input”. Then you can see the calendar of this month on the display. - Scroll “” and “” to choose the date and press “OK ()”. Or you can move the month by scrolling “” keys on left side of the phone (volume keys). - Enter the time (hour, minute and AM/PM) and a memo. - Press “STO ()” then the display show you a memo and time. Press “STO () to store. - Choose “Alarm Set” or “Alarm Reset” - Then the display shows you an animation and “Add Other Schedule?” orderly. If you want to add more, press “OK ()”. Alarm You can set the 24-hour alarm to sound an alert at the set time, when your phone is on. If the phone is off at the alarm set time, the alarm will not sound. Daily Alarm : Once you set the alarm using “Daily Alarm” option, your phone will sound an alert at the set time everyday. - Once you select “2. Alarm Setting”, press “1. Daily Alarm”. Storing a Number, e-Mail Address and Name You can store phone numbers, e-Mail addresses and associated names in your phone’s memory up to 150 numbers to use for Speed Dialing. Each number and e-Mail address you store can be up to 32 digits in length, and names you store can be up to 16 characters in length. A number, e-Mail address and a name you want to store is stored in specific memory location together. And you can use Speed Dialing to press and hold the location number. To store phone numbers, e-Mail addresses and a name ; - Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book” and “3. Number Store”. Then you can see “New or Append?” on the display. - Once you choose “NEW” by using “” & “OK ()”, you can see “Location ??? auto =***” on the display. - Choose the location number by scrolling “” or enter the location number you want to store in. Calculator You can use your phone as a calculator. - Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book” and “4. Calculator”. - Now you can use your phone as a calculator. Use “OPER ()” to scroll “+, , ×, ÷” and press “SEL (…)” to select. And use “= ()” to enter. Memo View Memo View option allow you to see a memo you stored while you were calling. Memo View”. - Then “Memo List” with the time you stored appears on the display. 31 Your phone shows you world 77 cities’ current time. To access the world time view; - Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book” and “5. World Time”. - Use “” or “*” and “#” keys to scroll cities. Call Time The Call Time function shows the approximate duration of last call and total time in hours and minutes that the phone has been in used and the total number of calls made under the current phone number in the display. - Last Call : Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book”, “7. Call Time” and “1. Last Call”. Then your phone indicates the approximate duration of last call you made in minutes and seconds. - Home Calls : Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book”, “7. Call Time” and “2. Home Calls”. Then your phone indicates the approximate total time in hours and minutes that the phone has been used in your provider’s service area. - Roam Calls : Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book”, “7. Call Time” and “3. Roam Calls”. Then your phone indicates the approximate total time in hours and minutes that the phone has been used in roaming area. - All Calls : Press “Menu ()”, “5. Phone Book”, “7. Call Time” and “4. All Calls”. Then your phone indicates the approximate total time in hours and minutes that the phone has been used in home and roam area. VI. MY PHONE NUMBER This option allows you to see your phone number on the display. To see your phone number, press “Memu ()” and “6. My Number”. Then your phone number will appear on the display.
32 MESSAGE SERVICES Your phone can receive two types of message service – text messages and voice mail – and you can send a text message (SMS : Short Messaging Service) if these services are available from your service provider. If you subscribe to either or both services, callers can leave you text messages or voice mail. Your service provider then transmits the text messages and voice mail notifications to your phone. I. Text Message Services (SMS : Short Messaging Service) The actual tagging of the text message is dependent on the system used by your service provider. Your service provider transmits messages to your phone. If your phone is on, it receives the messages as described below. If your phone is not turned on, your service provider retains the messages and transmits them again later. When a new text message is received, your phone sounds an alert or vibrates and is shown on the display. Once you read a new message, disappears on the display. Note ) Your phone holds up to TBD messages or a maximum of TBD KB of message text. Read Text Messages If your phone is turned ON when it receives a text message, your phone sounds an alert or vibrates and is shown on the display. You have a choice of reading the message immediately by pressing “SMS (…)” key or reading it later. To read a new message; - Press “SMS (…)” and “1. View MSG”. - Select “ 1 Page/Msg” and press “SEL ()” to see. Then the time you received, a sender, sender’s phone number and a new text message appear on the display. - You can read the text message by scrolling “” keys. - If you want to see a message which you already read, press “SMS (…)”, “1. View MSG” and select “ 1 Old Msg”. Then you can see the message list on the display. Select a message what you want to see again and press “SEL ()”. - If you want to call to a sender back, simply press “SEND” while you are reading a message. Sending a Text Message (SMS : Short Messaging Service) You can send a text message through your phone. To edit and send a text message;
33 - Press “SMS (…)” and “2. Send MSG”. Then old message lists appear on the display below “New Send MSG”. - Select “New Send MSG” or old messages. And write a new message or edit old messages. - Once you finish to write a message, press “OK ()”. - Select “New Send NUM” for a new number or the other phone numbers you have sent before. - If you choose “New Send NUM”, enter the dial number and press “OK ()”. - Enter the receive number, which you wish a receiver to call to, and press “OK ()”. (There is your phone number displayed for the receive number) - Then your phone displays that a message is being sent. Deleting Messages You can delete a message one by one or delete all messages at once. To delete a message; - Press “DEL (…)” key while you are reading a message or on the message list display. - Or press “SMS (…)” and “4. Erase All”. Then “Erase ?” appears on the display. Press “OK ()” to erase all messages. Note ) If you use “Erase All” option, it also erases voice mails. II. Voice Mail Service Your phone can receive voice mail notification when it is turned ON. If your service provider transmits the notification and your phone is turned OFF, you will receive notification the next time you turn your phone ON. If your phone is turned when it receives a voice mail notice, your phone sounds an alert or vibrates and is shown on the display. Once you listen a new voice message, disappears on the display. Listening Voice Mails If your phone is turned ON when it receives a voice message, your phone sounds an alert or vibrates and is shown on the display. You have a choice of listening the message immediately by pressing “SMS (…)” key or listening it later. To listen a new voice message; - Press “SMS (…)” and “1. View MSG”. - Select “ 1 Voice” and press “SEL ()”. Then the time you received, a sender and
34 sender’s phone number appear on the display. - If you want to listen a voice message, dial “*89”. Then you can listen the voice messages. - If you want to see messages again, press “SMS (…)”, “1. View MSG” and select “ 1 Voice”. Then you can see the voice mail list on the display. Select a message and press “SEL ()”. - If you want delete a message, press “DEL (…)” key while you are reading a voice mail list. - If you want to call to a sender back, simply press “SEND” while you are reading or listening a voice mail. 37 ENTERING LETTERS & NUMBERS You can enter letters, as well as numbers, when storing information into your phone, writing a memo or sending a text message (SMS : Short Messaging Service) by using your phone’s keypad. To enter letters, press the key associated with the letter you wish to enter until it appears on the screen (numbers also appear). ABC Mode When you need to enter letters into your phone, it automatically switches to ABC mode. Once you enter letters, you enter a capital letter. - To enter a small letter, press “(…)”. Then changes to . Now you can enter a small letter. - To enter a number, press “ (…)”. Then changes to . Now you can enter a number. 123 Mode When storing names to the phone book or sending a text message, you can enter a number within a name at any time. Press “ (…)” and enter a number you desire.
