INSTALLATION11 12Wall mountingTHE GH3025 CAN BE MOUNTED ON A STANDARD WALL PHONE PLATE.IF ONE IS NOT AVAILABLE, IT CAN ALSO BE MOUNTED ON TWO SCREWS(NOT INCLUDED), INSTALLED 3-1/4 VERTICALLY APART IN THE WALL,LEAVE3/16 OF EACH SCREW EXPOSED FOR MOUNTING THE UNIT.A. Connect the desk/wall bracket to the bottom of the base in the wallmount position (FIG 2). You can remove the bracket from the base bypushingonthetabofthebracket.B. Place one end of the short telephone line cord into the modular jackmarked TEL LINE located at the back of the base. ( FIG 1)FIG 2PUSHBRACKET BASEC. Place the other end of the line cord into the recessed area in the bottomof the wall mount bracket, and plug into the telephone wall jack.D. The Answering Machine may be used prior tothe handset being charged.After connecting the unit to AC power, leave the handset in the base cradlewith handset keypad facing out for ten to fourteen hours before first usingit. Later, it will take less time for the battery to recharge. Theon the base will be lit when the handset is in the cradle. (FIG 4)NOTE:A. When the battery gets low, there will be a low-battery beep from thehandset. The button LED will flash slowly.B. If the battery becomes low while you are on a call, terminate the callquickly and put the handset in the base to recharge the battery.C. INSTALLATION TELEPHONE OPERATIONTO REPLACE BATTERIES:To maximize your battery s life, we recommend that you periodically fully discharge thebattery, and then recharge it. To do this, unplug your phone line cord from the wallphone jack. Press the button, and allow the handset to remain on for 10 to 12TALKhours. Reconnect the phone cord to the wall phone jack. Return the handset to thebase and allow it to fully charge for 12 hours. If this process is completed monthly, itwill reduce the memory buildup that occurs from frequent partial charging.Remove old battery .2.To Replace Batteries:1. Remove battery cover .3. Plug the cord of the new battery pack into the handset andplace the battery in the battery compartment.4. Slide battery cover until it clicks in place. If your house is wired for rotaryservice, move the Tone/Pulseswitch to the Pulse position.2. If your house is wired for ToneService, move the switchTone/Pulseto the Tone position.3. If you are unsure of the type of dial-ing service you have, set the switchto Tone. On the handset, press theTALK button and dial any digit onthe keypad. If the dial tone persists,switch to Pulse. To disconnect, pressthe button again, or set thehandset in the cradle.TALKYour GH3025 Cordless Telephone isequipped with a digital security codingsystem to protect your base unit frombeing accessed by other cordlessTelephones.The code allows your base and handsetto recognize each other so that othercordless phones will not make calls onyour line.If the AC adaptor is disconnected or aloss of power occurs while the handset isDigital Security Systeminoperatable. If this occurs, reconnect theAC adaptor and return the handset to thebase unit so that the security code isreset.When the handset is not in the base, onlya handset having the identical securitycode and operating on the same channelcan access the base and use your phoneline.When the handset is in the base, noother handset, even those having theidentical security code and operating onthe same channel can access the baseand use your phone line.Digital security coding will also eliminatethe false ringing associated withcordless telephones not equipped withthis feature.Your cordless telephone has 40operating channels. The phone willautomatically search and select theclearest channel when you press theTALK button. If you hear noise or otherinterference during your conversation,you can manually select a clearerchannel by pressing and releasing theCH button on the handset to switch toanother spare channel. IF THE HANDSET IS OUT OF THECRADLE, press any key on thehandset, as you will be connectedautomatically.2. IF THE HANDSET IS IN THECRADLE, lift the handset. After hearing a dial tone, dial thedesired number.Making a CallNOTE:If you experience difficulty with placing orreceiving calls, the lost security codemay be the cause of the problem. Whenthis occurs, the handset can no longercommunicate with its base. The loss ofthe code can occur any of the followingways: if the battery is drained and needsrecharging; the AC adaptor isdisconnected or a power loss hasoccurred; or anything that causeselectrical interference, for example,multiple cordless telephones, babymonitors, televisions VCR s etc.Reset the security code by placing thehandset on the base for 10 seconds,removing it from the base, thenreplacing it on the base for an additional10 seconds.The unit will beep and you can nowmake the call. If that does not work,make sure AC adaptor from the powersource. Disconnect the battery for 5seconds and then reconnect. Place thehandset on the base and then replugthe AC adaptor (see Troubleshooting).Let stand 2 minutes before use. Out of RangeIf you try to place a call when you aretoo far away from the base, you willhear static. If this occurs, move closerto the base.of the memory locations 0 through 9,by following the steps outlined below.A record of the numbers to bespeed-dialed may be kept on thespeed dialing numbers index onpage 31.1. Pick up handset, with TALK LED off.2. Press MEM( MEMORY) button.3. Dial phone number (up to 16 digits).4. Press MEM button again.5. Press a number key (0-9) for thememory location where the numberis to be stored.When finished, a long beep willconfirm the number has beensuccessfully stored. Record numbersto be speed dialed on memory indexlabels, which can be adhered to thebase or other desired locations.1. Pick up handset. Pressbutton and listen for dial tone.2. Press and release (MEMORY)button.3.
