dispensernozzle.
Keepthe nozzlein contactwith the rim of the fueltank or containeropening
at all timesuntil fuelingiscomplete.Donot useanozzlelock-opendevice.
Extinguishall cigarettes,cigars,pipesandothersources
of ignition.
Neverfuel machineindoors.
Neverremovegascapor addfuelwhilethe engineishot or running.Allow

Checkbrakeoperationfrequentlyasit issubjectedto wearduringnormal
operation.Adjustandserviceasrequired.
Checkthe blade(s)andenginemountingboltsat frequentintervalsfor
propertightness.Also,visuallyinspectblade(s)for damage(e.g.,excessive
wear,bent,cracked).Replacethe blade(s)with the originalequipment
manufacturer's(O.E.M.)
blade(s)only,listedinthismanual.Useof parts

To checkthe slope, proceedas follows:
1. Removethis pageand fold along the dashedline.
2. Locatea verticalobject on or behindthe slope (e.g. a pole, building,fence, tree, etc.)
3. Align eitherside of the slope gaugewith the object (See Figure1 and Figure2 ).
4. Adjust gaugeup or down until the left cornertouchesthe slope (SeeFigure1 and Figure2).
5. If there is a gap belowthe gauge,the slope is too steepfor safeoperation(SeeFigure2 above).

DrainingThe Fuel

IMPORTANT: Fuelleft inthe fuel tankduringwarmweatherdeterioratesand
will causeseriousstartingproblems.

1.

Locatethe fuel filter,whichis locatedonthe left sideofthe engine,andmay
be attachedto theenginewitha tiestrap.

Topreventgumdepositsfromforminginsidethe engine'scarburetorandcausing
possiblemalfunctionofthe engine,the fuelsystemmustbeeithercompletely
emptied,or the gasolinemustbetreatedwith astabilizerto preventdeterioration.

2.

Cutthe tie strap,if present,thenpinchthe in-lineclamponthe fuel filter
with a pairof pliers,slidethe clampupthe fuel line.

3.

Pullthe fuellinefreefrom the filter andplacethe openendofthe lineinto
an approvedcontainerto drainthe fuel.

Ifusinga fuelstabilizer:
a.

Readthe productmanufacturer'sinstructionsandrecommendations.

b.

Addto clean,freshgasolinethe correctamountofstabilizerforthe
capacityof the fuel system.

Cleanandlubricatetractorthoroughlyasdescribedinthe lubrication
instructions.

Fillthe fueltank with treatedfuelandrunthe enginefor 2-3minutesto
get stabilizedfuelinto the carburetor.

Ifemptyingthe fuelsystem:
a.

Donot drainfuelwhen theengineishot.Allowthe engineadequate
time to cool.Drainfuel into anapprovedcontaineroutdoors,awayfrom
openflame.

b.

Drainanylargevolumeof fuelfrom the tank bydisconnectingthe
fuel linefrom the in-linefuel filter nearthe engine.Seethe complete
instructionsforDrainingTheFuellaterin thissection.

Gasolineisextremely flammable and canbe explosiveundercertain
conditions. Draingasolinebeforestoring the equipment for extended
periods.Drainfuel only into an approvedcontaineroutdoors,awayfrom
an open flame. Allow engine to cool.Extinguishcigarettes, cigars,pipes,
and other sourcesof ignitionprior to draining fuel. Store gasolinein an
approvedcontainerin safe location.

Reconnect
the fuel lineandrunthe engineuntil it startsto falter,then
usethe choketo keepthe enginerunninguntilall fuel in thecarburetor
hasbeenexhausted.
Disconnect
the fuellineanddrainanyremaininggasolinefromthe
system.

Gasolineisa toxicsubstance.Dispose
of gasolineproperly.Contactyour
localauthorities for approveddisposalmethods.
3.

Removethe sparkplugandpourone(1)ounceof engineoil throughthe spark
plug holeinto the cylinder.Crankthe engineseveraltimesto distributethe
oil. Replace
the sparkplug.
