IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RECHARGING HOT BATTERIES
When usingyour drill-drive!continuously, the batteries inyour batterypack will become hat. You should leta hot
battery pack cool down for approximately30 minutes before attemptingto recharge. When the batterypeck
becomes dischargedand is hot, thiswill cause the yellow and green lightson your batterychargerto come on
instead of the red light. The yellow and green lightsindicatesoft start mode and will switchto green only, indicat-
ing slowcharge mode. The red lightindicatesfast charge mode, 1 hourcharge time. The green lightindicates
slowcharge mode, requiringovernightchargingfor batteries to roachfull charge. If the green lightcomes on
after lettingbattery pack cool down, removeit from chargerfor additionalcooling.0 nce the battery pack cools
down, you can recharge battery pack in fast charge modeas normal. Do not leave a hot battery peck in charger
untilit coolsdown, The green lightwill notgo off when batterypack cools, If fast charga mode is desired, you
must physicallyremove a hot batterypack from the charger, let it cool, then place it back in charger after it has
cooled down.
Note: This situationonly occurswhen continuous use of your drillcauses the batteriesto become hot, It does
notoccur under normalcimumstances. Refer to "CHARGING BA'I-rERY PACK" for normal rechargingof
batteries. If the charger does not charge your battery pack undernormalcircumstances, return both the battery
pack and chargerto your nearest Sears repaircenter for electricalcheck.

BATTERIES
Your drill'sbattery pack is equippedwith 14 nickel-
cadmium rechargeable batteries.Length of service
from each chargingwill depend on the type of work
you are doing.
The batteries inthis tool have been designed to
providemaximumtrouble free life. However, like all
batteries, they will eventually wear out. Do not
disassemble batterypack and attempt to replace the
batteries. Handlingof these batteries, especiallywhen
weadng rings and jewelry, couldresult in a serious
bum.
To obtainthe longestpossible batterylife, we suggest
the following:
Store and charge your batteries ina cool area.
Temperatures above normalroom temperature
will shortenbattery life.
Never store batteries in a dischargedcondition.
Recharge them immediatelyafter they are
discharged.
All batteries graduallylosetheir charge. The
higherthe temperaturethe quickerthey losetheir
charge. If you storeyour tool for long pedodsof
time withoutusing it, rechargethe batteries every
monthortwo. This practice will prolongbattery
life.
