WORK AREA
• Keep your work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered benches and dark areas invite
accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in
explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases,
or dust. Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the dust or fumes.
• Keep bystanders, children, and
visitors away while operating a power
tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
•Double insulated tools are equipped
with a polarized plug (one blade is
wider than the other.) This plug will fit
in a polarized outlet only one way. If
the plug does not fit fully in the outlet,
reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified electrician to install
a polarized outlet. Do not change the
plug in any way. Double insulation []
eliminates the need for the three
wire grounded power cord and grounded
power supply system.
• Avoid body contact with grounded
surfaces such as pipes, radiators,
ranges and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your
body is grounded.
• Don't expose power tools to rain or
wet conditions. Water entering a power
toot will increase the risk of electric shock.
•Do not abuse the cord. Never use the
cord to carry the tools or pull the plug
from an outlet. Keep cord away from
heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Replace damaged cords immediately.
Damaged cords increase the risk of
electric shock.
• When operating a power tool outside,
use an outdoor extension cord marked
"W-A" or "W." These cords are rated for
outdoor use and reduce the risk of
electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
• Stay alert, watch what you are doing
and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use tool
while tired or under the influence of
drugs, alcohol, or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating
power tools may result in serious personal
injury.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair.
Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose
clothing, jewelry, or long hair can be
caught in moving parts. Air vents cover
moving parts and should be avoided.
• Avoid accidental starting. Be sure
switch is off before plugging in.
Carrying tools with your finger on the
switch or plugging in tools that have the
switch on invites accidents.
• Remove adjusting keys or wrenches
before turning the tool on. A wrench or
key that is left attached to a rotating part
of the toot may result in personal injury.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. Proper footing
and balance enables better control of the
toot in unexpected situations.
• Use safety equipment. Always wear
eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing
protectionmustbeusedforappropriate
conditions.
TOOL USE AND CARE
• Use clamps or other practical way to
secure and support the workpiece to a
stable platform. Holding the work by
hand or against your body is unstable
and may lead to toss of control.
• Do not force tool. Use the correct tool
for your application. The correct tool
will do the job better and safer at the rate
for which it is designed.
• Do not use tool if switch does not turn
it on or off. Any toot that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired.
• Disconnect the plug from the power
source before making any
adjustments, changing accessories,
or storing the tool. Such preventative
safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the toot accidentally.
• Store idle tools out of reach of
children and other untrained persons.
Tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
•Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting
tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained tools, with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are
easier to control.
• Check for misalignment or binding of
moving parts, breakage of parts, and
any other condition that may affect the
tools operation. If damaged, have the
tool serviced before using. Many
accidents are caused by poorly
maintained tools.
• Use only accessories that are
recommended by the manufacturer for
your model. Accessories that may be
suitable for one tool, may become
hazardous when used on another toot.
SERVICE
• Tool service must be performed only
by qualified repair personnel. Service
or maintenance performed by unqualified
personnel could result in a risk of injury•
• When servicing a tool, use only
identical replacement parts. Follow
instructions in the Maintenance
section of this manual. Use of
unauthorized parts or failure to follow
Maintenance Instructions may create a
risk of electric shock or injury.

•ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION.
• Clean your toot out periodically.
_kCAUTION: Wear appropriate hearing
protection during use. Under some
conditions and duration of use, noise from
this product may contribute to hearing loss.
• Hold tool by insulated gripping
surfaces when performing an
operation where the cutting tool may
contact hidden wiring or its own cord.
Contact with a "live" wire will make
exposed metal parts of the toot "live" and
shock the operator.
_, WARNING: Some dust created by
power sanding, sawing, grinding,
drilling, and other construction
activities contains chemicals known to
cause cancer, birth defects or other
reproductive harm. Some examples of
these chemicals are:
• lead from lead-based paints,
• crystalline silica from bricks and cement
and other masonry products, and
• arsenic and chromium from chemically-
treated lumber. (CCA)
Your risk from these exposures varies,
depending on how often you do this type
of work. To reduce your exposure to these
chemicals:work in a well ventilated area,
and work with approved safety equipment,
such as those dust masks that are
specially designed to filter out microscopic
particles.
•Avoid prolonged contact with dust
from power sanding, sawing, grinding,
drilling, and other construction
activities. Wear protective clothing
and wash exposed areas with soap
and water. Allowing dust to get into your
mouth, eyes, or lay on the skin may
jipromote absorption of harmful chemicals•
WARNING: Use of this tool can
generate and/or disburse dust, which
may cause serious and permanent
respiratory or other injury. Always use
NIOSH/OSHA approved respiratory
protection appropriate for the dust
exposure. Direct particles away from face
and body.
FIRSTAID MEASURES FOR GEL
COMPONENTS
If gel within the comfort grip becomes
exposed and results in skin contact wash
with soap and water; for eye contact, flush
with flowing water. If swallowed, seek
medical attention. Material Safety Data
Sheet (MSDS) available from 1-800-544-6986.
EXTENSION CORDS
When using an extension cord, be sure to
use one heavy enough to carry the current
your product will draw. An undersized cord
wilt cause a drop in line voltage resulting in
bossof power and overheating. The
following table shows the correct size to
use depending on cord length and
nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use
the next heavier gage. The smaller the
gage number, the heavier the cord.

SANDING LEAD BASED PAINT
Sanding of lead based paint is NOT
RECOMMENDED due to the difficulty of
controlling the contaminated dust. The
greatest danger of lead poisoning is to
children and pregnant women.
Since it is difficult to identify whether or not
a paint contains lead without a chemical
analysis, we recommend the following
precautions when sanding any paint:
PERSONAL SAFETY
No children or pregnant women should
enter the work area where the paint
sanding is being done until all clean up is
completed.
A dust mask or respirator should be worn
by all persons entering the work area.
The filter should be replaced daily or
whenever the wearer has difficulty
breathing.
NOTE: Only those dust masks suitable
for working with lead paint dust and
fumes should be used. Ordinary painting
masks do not offer this protection. See
your local hardware dealer for the proper
(NIOSH approved) mask.
NO EATING, DRINKING or SMOKING
should be done in the work area to
prevent ingesting contaminated paint
particles. Workers should wash and
clean up BEFORE eating, drinking or
smoking. Articles of food, drink, or
smoking should not be left in the work
area where dust would settle on them.
ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY
Paint should be removed in such a
manner as to minimize the amount of
dust generated.
Areas where paint removal is occurring
should be sealed with plastic sheeting of
4 mils thickness.
Sanding should be done in a manner to
reduce tracking of paint dust outside the
work area.
CLEANING AND DISPOSAL
All surfaces in the work area should be
vacuumed and thoroughly cleaned daily
for the duration of the sanding project.
Vacuum filter bags should be changed
frequently.
Plastic drop cloths should be gathered
up and disposed of along with any dust
chips or other removal debris. They
should be placed in sealed refuse
receptacles and disposed of through
regular trash pick-up procedures. During
clean up, children and pregnant women
should be kept away from the immediate
work area.
All toys, washable furniture and utensils
used by children should be washed
thoroughly before being used again.
MOTOR
Be sure your power supply agrees with
nameplate marking. 120 Volts AC only
means your toot will operate on standard
60 Hz household power. Do not operate
AC tools on DC. A rating of 120 volts
AC/DC means that you tool wilt operate on
standard 60 Hz AC or DC power. This
information is printed on the nameplate.
Lower voltage will cause toss of power
and can result in over-heating. All
Craftsman tools are factory-tested; ifthis
tool does not operate, check the power
supply.

Detail Sanding
Your toot is equipped with a Hook and
Loop teardrop base which allows you to
use it on both large flat surfaces and in
tight spots or corners.
Fitting Sanding Sheets or Pads
( Fig. 2)
•Detach and save the two diamond-
shaped tips from the sanding sheet or pad.
• Hold the toot with the sanding base
facing upwards.
• Place the sanding sheet or pad onto the
sanding base.
• The diamond-shaped tip can be reversed
or replaced when worn.
• When the front part of the tip is worn,
detach it from the sheet, reverse it and
press it onto the sanding base again.
• When the whole tip is worn, remove it
from the sanding base and fit a new tip.

When the tip of the teardrop sanding
base becomes worn, it can be reversed
or replaced.
• Remove the screw.
• Reverse or replace the base tip.
• Fit and tighten the screw.
SWITCH
To turn the toot ON, hold it as shown in
Figure1 and push the portion of the switch
marked "1".To turn the toot OFF, push the
portion of the switch marked "O".
USE
Grasp product as shown in Figure 1 and
turn it on. Move it in tong sweeping strokes
across the surface, letting it do the work. /
Light pressure is all that is required for Base Tip
sanding, polishing or scrubbing.
Excessive pressure wilt slow the tool and
produce inferior results. Check your work
often, product is capable of removing ....JJJ

Finger Attachment ( Fig. 4)
The finger attachment is used for fine
detail sanding.
• Remove the screw from the base tip.
• Remove the diamond-shaped tip holder
from the sanding base.
• Fit the finger attachment onto the
sanding base.
• Fit and tighten the screw.
• Fit finger sandpaper to finger attachment.
Use only mild soap and damp cloth to
clean the toot. Never let any liquid get
inside the toot; never immerse any part of
the toot into a liquid.
IMPORTANT: To assure product SAFETY
and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance
and adjustment should be performed by
Sears Parts & Repair Centers.

SEGURIDAD ELC:CTRICA
•Las herramientas con doble

USO Y CUIDADOS DE LA HERRAMIENTA

pieza de trabajo en una plataforma
estable. Sostener et trabajo con ta mano
o contra el cuerpo no brinda la estabilidad
requerida y puede conducir a la perdida
del control.
• No fuerce la herramienta. Utilice la
herramienta correcta para el trabajo
que realizar_. La herramienta correcta
hara el trabajo mejor y mas seguro a la
velocidad para ta que fue diseSada.
•No utilice la herramienta si no puede
encenderla o apagarla con el
interruptor. Toda herramienta que no
puede ser controlada mediante el
interruptor es peligrosa y debe ser
reparada.
•Desconecte el enchufe de la fuente de
energia antes de realizar algdn ajuste,
cambiar accesorios o guardar la
herramienta. Estas medidas de
seguridad preventivas reducen et riesgo
de encender la herramienta en forma
accidental.
• Guarde las herramientas que no est_n

•el plomo de tas pinturas de base plomo,
• la silice cristatina de tadriltos, cemento y
otros productos de mamposterfa y
•el arsenico y cromo de ta madera con
tratamiento quimico. (CCA)
El riesgo derivado de estas exposiciones
varia segun la frecuencia con la que se
realice este tipo de trabajo. Para reducir la
exposici6n a estos productos quimicos: se
recomienda trabajar en areas bien
ventiladas y usar equipos de seguridad
aprobados, como las m&scaras para potvo
especialmente dise5adas para filtrar las
particulas microsc6picas.
• Evite el contacto prolongado con las
particulas de polvo originadas al lijar,
aserrar, esmerilar, taladrar y realizar
demos actividades de la construccion.
Use indumentaria protectora y lave las
_reas expuestas con agua y jabon.
Evite que el potvo entre en la boca yen
los ojos o se deposite en la piel, para
impedir la absorci6n de productos
quimicos nocivos.
_,ADVERTENClA: El uso de esta
herramienta puede generar o dispersar
particulas de polvo, que pueden causar
lesiones respiratorias permanentes y
graves u otras lesiones. Use siempre

PRIMEROS AUXlLIOS INDICADOS PARA
COMPONENTES DE GEL
Si el get que contiene la agarradera queda
expuesto y toma contacto con ta piel, lave
con jab6n y agua; si toma contacto con los
ojos, enjuague con abundante agua. Si se
traga, busque atenci6n medica. Si necesita
la Hoja de datos de seguridad del material
(MSDS, por sus siglas en ingles), flame al

CABLES PROLONGADORES
Cuando utitice un cable protongador,
asegt3rese de que tenga ta capacidad para
conducir la corriente que su producto
exige. Un cable de menor capacidad
provocara una calda en el vottaje de ta
linea que producirD, perdida de potencia y
sobrecalentamiento. La siguiente tabla
muestra ta medida correcta a utitizar segt]n
la Iongitud del cable y la capacidad
nominal en amperios indicada en la ptaca.
En caso de duda, utitice el calibre
inmediatamente superior. Cuanto menor
es el nt]mero de calibre, mas grueso es el
cable.

SEGURIDAD PERSONAL
Ningun nifio o mujer embarazada debe
ingresar at area de trabajo donde se esta
lijando la pintura hasta que se haya
terminado la limpieza final.
Todas tas personas que ingresan al area
de trabajo deben usar una mascara para
potvo o una mascarilla de respiracion. El
filtro se debe cambiar diariamente o toda
vez que el usuario tenga dificuttad para
respirar.
NOTA: Soto se deben usar aqueltas
mascaras para polvo apropiadas para
trabajar con potvo y vapores de pintura
de base ptomo. Las mascaras comunes
para pintar no ofrecen esta proteccion.
Consutte a su comerciante local sobre la
mascara apropiada (aprobada por
NIOSH).
NO SE DEBE COMER, BEBER O
FUMAR en et area de trabajo para evitar
ingerir particulas de pintura contaminada.
Los trabajadores se deben tavar y limpiar
ANTES de comer, beber o fumar. No se
deben dejar articutos para comer, beber
o fumar en et area de trabajo donde se
podria depositar potvo sobre ellos.
SEGURIDAD AMBIENTAL
La pintura debe ser retirada de forma tal
de reducir al minimo la cantidad de
polvo generado.
Las b.reas donde se realiza remocion de
pintura deben estar selladas con hojas
de pt&stico de 4 milesimas de pulgada
de espesor.
El lijado se deberia realizar de manera
de reducir los vestigios de polvo de
pintura fuera del &rea de trabajo.
LIMPIEZA Y ELIMINACION
Todas las superficies del area de trabajo
deben ser limpiadas cuidadosamente y
repasadas con aspiradora todos los dias
mientras dure el proyecto de tijado. Se
deben cambiar con frecuencia las botsas
de filtro de la aspiradora.
Las tetas plasticas del piso se deben
recoger y eliminar junto con cuatquier
resto de polvo u otros residuos det
lijado. Deben cotocarse en recipientes
de desperdicios seltados y eliminarse
por medio de los procedimientos
normales de recotecci6n de residuos.
Durante la limpieza, los nifios y las

mujeres embarazadas deben
mantenerse lejos del area de trabajo
inmediata.
Todos los juguetes, muebles lavabtes y
utensilios utilizados por los nifios deben
ser lavados cuidadosamente antes de
ser utitizados nuevamente.

Asegurese de que su suministro de
energia concuerde con Io marcado en la

INTERRUPTOR
Para ENCENDER la herramienta, sujetela
como se observa en ta Figura 1 y oprima
la parte del interruptor marcada con ta
letra 'T'. Para APAGAR ta herramienta,
oprima la parte del interruptor marcada
con ta letra "O".
uso
Tome ta herramienta como se observa en
la Figura 1 y enciendata. Haga
movimientos amptios, barriendo la
superficie, dejando que ta lijadora haga el
trabajo. Una presion tigera es todo lo que
se requiere para lijar, pulir o restregar. La
presion excesiva hara mas lento el trabajo
y producira, resultados de inferior calidad.
Revise su trabajo con frecuencia, el
producto tiene ta capacidad de remover
material rapidamente.
LIJADO DE DETALLES FINOS
La herramienta viene equipada con una
base en forma de lb.grima tipo vetcro para
usar tanto en superficies ptanas de gran
tamafio como en sitios de dificil acceso o
esquinas.
MONTAJE DE LAS HOJAS DE LIJA O
DE LAS ALMOHADILLAS (FIG. 2)
Desprenda las dos puntas romboidales
de la hoja de lija o de la almohadilla.
Sostenga la herramienta con la base
lijadora hacia arriba.
Coloque la hoja de tija o atmohadilla
sobre la base lijadora.
La punta romboidat se puede invertir o
reemptazar cuando esta desgastada.
Cuando ta parte delantera de la punta
se gasta, retirela de ta hoja, inviertala y
presionela nuevamente sobre la base
lijadora.
Cuando toda la punta se haya
desgastado, retirela de la base lijadora
y cotoque una punta nueva.

desgasta, se puede invertir o reemplazar.
