Intended use of the device
The D SCAN® AUTHENTICATOR CF is a full colour image and full page reader for the
intended use of acquisition and transmission of personal and document data. It is intended for the
use in IT-devices area and the operation and installation must be in connection with suitable
computer equipment. When operating, the electrical installation and cabling must comply with
the IEC 60950 standard.
The device has the capability to capture images of an entire data page of any ID document in
different illuminations (visible, IR, coaxial and UV light) and to read RFID chip data contactless
using a 13.56 MHz RFID Transceiver. To capture and transmit data the high speed USB 2.0
interface will be used.
The additionally installed card reader provides a contact interface, which allows to read the chip
data of ID cards. The operation and display of results is controlled by the special software as well
as all functions.
Basic health and safety instructions
To ensure safe operation of the D SCAN AUTHENTICATOR CF:
• All persons who operate the D SCAN AUTHENTICATOR CF must observe the guidelines and
particularly the safety precautions outlined in this document and according to related country
regulation requirements.
• You must observe restrictions on the use of the device in potentially hazardous atmospheres
such as fuel depots, chemical plants and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles
(such as grain, dust, or metal powders) and any other area where you would normally be
advised to turn off your vehicle engine.
• Transmitted radio frequency energy may interfere with some hearing aids, pacemakers or other
medical devices if the person is positioned too close to the document reader.
• To reduce the RF exposure refer to your related country regulation requirements. See the
specifications table and read the User Manual on the CD-ROM for detailed information.
• Switch off the document reader if not in use.
• Do not open the device. Repairs are only allowed by Cross Match Technologies. Changes or
modifications not expressly approved by Cross Match Technologies could void the user's
authority to operate the equipment.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the
following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that
may cause undesired operation.
The power source for the AUTHENTICATOR CF must provide an output voltage of
18-24 V DC. The electric current range of the power supply unit must be min. 1 A
and max. 7 A. Use only power supply units that comply with the class B limits of 47
CFR 15, Subpart B.
Note:
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to
provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation.
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not
installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that
interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause
harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by
turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the
receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Installation
The power supply for the D SCAN AUTHENTICATOR CF must be provided by a

current range of the power supply unit must be min. 1 A and max. 7 A. To connect
the document reader to a computer, use a shielded USB data cable as supplied with
the reader.
Operation of the device
The device must be operated only in dry rooms. Exclude any condensation. The
environmental temperature range is 41 °F to 113 °F (+5 °C to +45 °C).
Warning
Do not look directly into the lights of the document contact area. Maintain a required
minimum distance of not less than 0.3 meters.
