Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the DCS-8515LH HD Pan & Tilt Wi-Fi Camera. The DCS-8515LH provides a range of features
to help you eectively monitor large areas of your home or small oce at all hours of the day. The pan/tilt function allows
the camera to patrol a wide area, while the built-in IR LEDs provide around the clock surveillance regardless of the lighting
conditions. Extra details are captured in 720p high-denition, 1 megapixel resolution and H.264 compression saves space
without sacricing performance. Wireless connectivity means there is no need for additional cabling.

Getting Started
To mount your camera on a wall or ceiling, please follow the steps below. It is recommended that you congure the camera before mounting.
Step 1
Place the mount at the desired location, assuring that location of the power cord thread is also
at the desired location. Use a pencil to mark the holes.
Step 2
Using a 6 mm drill bit, drill two 25 mm deep holes over the pencil marks. For a plaster, drywall, or
concrete wall, insert the plastic anchors to support the screws rst.
Step 3
Place the mount over the holes that are in the wall. Make sure to align the mount holes with the
holes in the wall. Use the supplied screws to attach the mount to the surface of the wall.

Step 4
Align the bottom of the camera to the threads on the mount. Assure that the camera is securely
snapped into place.

Connecting The Camera
Plug the power adapter into the micro-USB port on the bottom of the camera then into an electrical outlet.
Make sure the power cable is routed throught the thread on the bottom.

Before you Begin
Safety
Please read all of the safety and operating instructions before using your device:
1. Do not open the device or attempt to repair or service it.
2. Use the device in a dry location, and avoid placing it in a humid environment.
3. Do not submerge the device in liquid or attempt to clean it with liquids or solvents. To clean the device, disconnect
from the power outlet and use a damp towel.
4. This device should only be used indoors.
Plan the location of your cameras:
1. Verify that your cameras are electrically rated to operate with the power available in your location.
2. Connect cameras into electrical outlets that are not controlled by a wall switch. This will help you to avoid
accidentally turning o power to the device.
3. Be sure to plug the power cables into properly grounded electrical outlets in order to help prevent against
electrical shock.

Section 2: Installation
Wireless Installation Considerations
The DCS-8515LH connects to your network using a wireless connection from anywhere within the operating range of your
wireless network. However, the number, thickness and location of walls, ceilings, or other objects that the wireless signals
must pass through, may limit the range. Typical ranges vary depending on the types of materials and background RF (radio
frequency) noise in your home or business. The key to maximizing wireless range is to follow these basic guidelines:
1. Minimize the number of walls and ceilings between your adapter and other network devices - each wall or
ceiling can reduce your adapter’s range from 3-90 feet (1-30 meters).
2. Be aware of the direct line between network devices. A wall that is 1.5 feet thick (.5 meters), at a 45-degree angle
appears to be almost 3 feet (1 meter) thick. At a 2-degree angle, it looks over 42 feet (14 meters) thick. Position
your devices so that the signal will travel straight through a wall or ceiling (instead of at an angle) for better
reception.
3. Building materials make a dierence. A solid metal door or aluminum studs may weaken the wireless signal. Try
to position your access points, wireless routers, and other networking devices where the signal passes through
drywall or open doorways. Materials and objects such as glass, steel, metal, walls with insulation, water (sh
tanks), mirrors, le cabinets, brick, and concrete will degrade your wireless signal.
4. Keep your product at least 3-6 feet or 1-2 meters away from electrical devices or appliances that generate RF
noise.
5. If you are using 2.4 GHz cordless phones or other radio frequency sources (such as microwave ovens), your
wireless connection may degrade dramatically or drop completely. Make sure your 2.4 GHz phone base is as
far away from your wireless devices as possible. The base transmits a signal even if the phone in not in use.

Please follow the instructions below to set up your HD Pan & Tilt Wi-Fi Camera.
Setting up the Camera Through mydlink™ App
Step 1:
Download the mydlink app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
Note: Please ensure that your device is connected to the internet.
Step 2:
Launch the mydlink app and create a new account or sign in to your existing
account.
Note: If you are asked about allowing the app to access your location, select Allow.
Make sure location services are turned on in your phone’s settings.

Step 3:
After logging in, tap the Menu icon in the top-left corner, select Add New
Device and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your camera.
Bluetooth needs to be enabled on your phone.
Step 4:
When you are asked to scan a QR code, select Yes or No.
If you selected Yes:
Scan the QR code on the bottom of the the camera, then press Next.
If you selected No:
Select the DCS-8515LH camera from the list, then press Next.
Select Next and continue to follow the onscreen instructions.
Final Step:
Congratulations, your HD Pan & Tilt Wi-Fi Camera is now ready to use!
Be sure to check the www.mydlink.com website periodically for the latest
rmware updates to keep your product secure and up to date with the latest
features.
Note: If you experience issues registering this camera with your mydlink account, or if you
purchased an open box or resold unit, perform a hard reset by pressing and holding the
recessed reset button on the camera for 10 seconds while the device is powered on, making
sure that you see the LEDs turn o.

Section 3: mydlink
After setting up your DCS-8515LH camera with a mydlink account in the mydlink app, you
will be able to remotely access your camera through the app. After signing in to your mydlink
account, you will see a screen similar to the following.
If you have previously enabled "Add to shortcut" option while installing the camera, you will
see a quick link to your camera directly on the home screen.
Note: Screenshots are representative only. The mydlink app is constantly improving and so
may appear dierent.
Using the mydlinkTM App
Controlling Your Device
Click on the shortcut link to your camera on the home screen and by default you will see a live
video feed of your camera on the top half of the app.
Or, you can access your DCS-8515LH by tapping the Menu icon in the top-left corner,
select Control, and select Camera. In the selected device group page, you can select the
specic camera in the carousel by tapping its icon.

saved pan/tilt points, microphone, and video quality
Recording Click on this button to enable recording of the video stream.
Snapshot Click on this button to take a snapshot from the video stream.
On the bottom half of the app you will see control options for your camera.

Device
The Device page contains several options for you to congure your camera.
In the camera control page, after you have selected the specic camera you wish to congure, tap the button to the right of
the camera’s name to enter the Device page.
1Device Photo Tap to add a customized photo of this device.
2Device Name Tap to change the device’s name.
3Device Location Tap to change or add a new location for this
device.
4Wi-Fi
Tap to change the wireless network this device
will use to connect to the Internet. Note: The
network must be the same as all your other
mydlink devices that you wish to use the same
account for.
5Microphone Toggle sound recording on or o.
6Motion Setting Tap to further congure sensitivity and active
area of motion detection of camera.
7Night Vision Click to change night vision detection to on/o/
auto.
8Pan-Tilt Control Click to enter Pan-Tilt Control settings. Can be
set to either Tap or Swipe. Default is Swipe.

9Privacy Mode Click to enable Privacy Mode. Privacy Mode will
disable camera feed until you disable it again.
10 Ceiling Mode
Flips the video image so the camera can be
installed upside-down with the base at on the
ceiling.
11 Reverse pan/tilt
control direction Inverts the direction of pan/tilt controls.
12 Enable Camera LED Click to enable/disable illumination of the LED
on the front of the camera. Default is enabled.
13 Storage Tap here to change where to store video clips
and to change subscription plan.
14 Upgrade Time
Shows time of auto rmware upgrade. Tap to
enter the rmware upgrade settings. You can
choose the most suitable time for automatic
updates.
15 Device ID Identies the device for support issues.
16 Current Firmware
Version
This displays the installed version of the rmware
on your device.
17 Remove Device Tap this button to disconnect this device from
your mydlink account.

Troubleshooting
1. How can I access my DCS-8515LH remotely through the Internet?
In order to use your DCS-8515LH remotely through the Internet using the mydlink app, you must register your camera
with a mydlink account. You can do this using the free mydlink app.
2. How do I update the rmware of my camera?
You can update your camera’s rmware by using the mydlink app. Please refer to the camera's settings page.
3: What do I need to do before I upgrade from the mydlink Lite app to the mydlink app?
Please refer to the app's store page for device compatibility requirements.
Note: You can use the same mydlink account to log into the mydlink app.
4: Do I have to sign up for a new mydlink account when transferring to the mydlink app?
No, you don’t need to sign up for a new mydlink account. You just have to sign in the mydlink app using your existing
mydlink account and all your existing devices will show up in the mydlink app.
