bolts. Thesemaybe removedas follows,Fig. B:
WithdrawItem the Refrigeratorthe bagcontaining
plasticcapsandspacers;
Lay the Refrige(ato_carefullyon itsback, witha su_able
stripof wood (133)under its toweredge:
Removethe bolls t,B1)and the woodenbase (B2);
Reinstallthe boltsto half their len(}th;
=,Put the plasticcapsover the boll heads;
eCarefullylilt Ihe Refrigeralorto i_snormalposilion;
Assemblethe plasticspacers,ilem (Dg),
Cleanthe Reldgeratorwitha dampclothandthen wipe it

2.1 Where to locate your Refrigerator
The Refrigeratormustbe inst_lledon afiatand levelfloor,
awayfrom directsunlightandfrom any objectwhich may
radiateheat.The locationshould be wellventilated bul nol

• Usingpliers,carefullybendand removesplitpinsfrom
whitebushings.Removebushingsfromcontro_reds,
Using1/4"nutdriver,removescrews(10) fromgrey
steelsupportpanel.Pushsupped paneldown to access
hingeplacementarea.
Prepareto resetrowerhingeon opposilesideby holding
ra_ supportplatewhilemountinglower hinge(F4) lo
cabinet.
Fit Refrigeratordoorontolower hinge.
=Resetfelt middrehinge andplasticspacer(this_oartis
suppliedwithIheReltigeratorparts bag).
eFitFreezerdooronto[eft middlehinge,

2.3 Installing the Refrigerator
ThisRelrigeratormustbe instaltedinaccordancewith
totalcodesorinstallaUonmustcomplywith:

This Refrigeratoris enry designedfor domesticuse.It is
yourtotalresponsabilityif you intendto use[tin trailler.
To ensureunintenupledoper!!ion, we recommendIhat
Ihe gas supplysystem beled fromtwogas cylinders,with
an automaticsw[tchoverdevice,Thespeciliedluel is
propaneandthe supplypressuremustbe 11inches
(280ram)watercolumn.The Refrigeratormuslbe
connectedwithcopper orotheracceptabletubingof
sufficientdiameterto avoid a pressuredropof morethan
one inch(25 ram)watergaugeup to the Refrigeratorinlet,
even withether gas-operatedappriances(suchas heaters,
andthe like) operatingfrom the samesystem.
The applianceanditsindividualshutoilvalvemust be
disconnectedfrom the gas supplypipingsystem during
anypressuretestingof Ihat systemat lest pressures[n
excessof 1/2psig (3,5 kPa).
Theappliancemusl be isolatedfrom_e gassupply
pipingsyslem by closingils individualmanualshut off
valveduringany pressurelest[ngof Ihe gas supply
pipingsystem at testpressuresequalto or lessthan 1/2
psig (3.5 kPa).
Toinstallthe Refrigerator:
If necessary,installa metalor woodpaneloverthe floor
as recommendedin item2.!. (b).
Disassemblethe burnerbox (Dg).
Placethe Refrigeratorin ils definiteposition.Turn the
bolts(B1) untilthe Refrigeraloris revel.Removeit again
from its location,
Connectthe gassupplyto the manualshut eftvalve
(DI3). Usea certifiedflexibletype metalconnect_ of
sufficientlength.
• Connectapressuregaugeat Ihe plug{G5) etthe
conlrols,
Now checkthe operation:
• Operatethe Refrigeratoraccordingto the inslructions
(F6) and allowit to workfor at least30 minu_es.
Duringthis period, checkthe connectionsfor leaks,from
thegas inlet tothe orificespud,usinga detergentand
watersolution.
• Check_e readingof Iha pressuregauge. Withno other
gasappl[ar_ceoperatingit shouldnot passt1" water
gauge.Withother appliancesoperatingit should notfail
berow10",
Check theoperationof theflame-faireredeviceas
indicatedunder"reehnicalDescrip![on",ilem 6,3,
Witha mirror(17)beneaththe fiamelube(14), make
sureIhatthe flamecoloris b/ue.tt shouldnet reachthe
tip of the baffle(t5), whichwillnormallybe slightly
aglow,
• "rumoffthe gasat the control(C3) leavingthe manual
shutoffvalve(Dr3) open.Replacetheptug(G5).
• Replacethe burnerbox (O8).
Check weather the flame [s centered in relation
to the heater pipe (chimney).
If it is not, turn the product off and call a service
agency. Do not run the Refrigerator under this
circumstance. See detail in figure 1+

3. Controls
NI controlsare placedon theconsolelocatedat Ihe basis
of Ihe Refrigeratorandare connectedto Shecontrol
devices locatedin the Re£igerator'sback.
(Seelig. C and D).
4. Gas Installation
PlaceIha selectorknob(C3) to the openposition (C4)
bydepressingand thenturningit.
tDepress{C3) and hold itdepressedwhileactuating the
piezo-igniler(C5)a fewtimes oruntilthe flame lights
When tryingto lightthe flame, pressthe selector
valve buttonfor morethan 10seconds.
Gasmusl besuppliedby a 3/8"copperpipefree from
sharp-cornercurves,mountedonthe conicalcoupling
connectedto the manual shutoff valve.
Thisfeed-pipemuslbe placed so as to avoiddamage
whenthe Refrigeratoris removedfrom itscompartment.
WhenconneclingtheRefrigeratorto the gas supplyuse
apressurecontrolvalve inthe propanegasbotle.
Neverconnectthepropanegas botlle directyto the
Refrigerator.
Use propane gas only. As propane gas ]s
h{ghlyflammable, it is extremely important to
check the effective sealing of all joints, from
bottle to Refrigerator.
After instalration,the gas supply must be
turned on and all pipe joints checked for
leakage, from propane gas bottle to the burner,
using s water/soap solution. Never use flame
to test for gas leakage.
Note:Anyservicingofgas pipescan on_be performed
by an authorizeddealer.Shouldyoudelect anyirregular
gaspressureor ins'_lla_ion,contactyoudeareror an
anther;zealworkshop.The owner must neverperformany
tasksthatrequirethe looseningof gas pipes.
5. Howto getthe bestoutofyour
Refrigerator
5,1 How to make it work (Fig, C)
(Lighting instructions)
Wilhthe Refrigeratorcorrectlyinstalls&gas supply
connectedand manualshut offva,]veopen,the following
mustbe doneto makeit work:
Turnthe thermostatknob (C2)to the coldestsetting
{C8).
oTha sparks canbe seenthroughthe lightconductor(C1)
whichwilllight up assoonas the burnergoeson.
If there areno sparkssee under=Trouble-shooting".
* Hold (C3) it depressedforanotherfive seconds.
Then release,checkingthatflamestays on.
If theflame goes out,repeatthe procedure,orconsult
itemTrouble-shooting.
Nextday:setthe thermostatknobto the defrost position
(C6) for at least fiveminutescheckingthatthe flame
does notgoout.
oSetthe thermostatIowithinits normal range(C7).
5.2 Absorption Refrigerators are different,..
The operationof an absorptionRefrigeratoris noiseless
and, therefore,onecan nottellwhelhe_it is workingby
simplylislen[ngoWithinonehour,however,the bottom of
the frozenfood compartmentshouldbeginto get cold.
Pulldowntooperatingtemperaturetakesfrom six to
hvelvehau/s, dependingon roomtemperature,
We suggestthatthe Refrigeratorbe leftemptycrur]rtgthe
firstfew hoursofoperation.
Atselateror=,avoidpl_cingIon muchfoodin the
Refrigeratorat onetime:
Store perishablesfirst, leavingotherfoodstuffsforlater,

hotdays, orwhenthe Refrigeratoris beingused
frequently,sel the thermostatto the cotdeslpodion of
the range.

5,3 How to make ice
The Refrigeratoris suppliedwiththree pPaslicice trays.
FIllthesewilhwaterto no nlorethanthe brim of the
intemaFseparators.Arrangethebaysone besidetheolher
at the bottomof the frozenfood compartment,
Alittlewaterspread overthe bottomwillimprovethermal
contactbetweenthe trays and the plate,
Ifyou s_artthe freezingin the evening,therewillbe 3 lbs
(1,360 grams)of ice availablethe followingmorning,

5.4 Frozen food compartment
In addiliontomakingice,youcan also slere frozenfood in

setting,nort_ythe use madeofthe maincompartrnenl.
Evenwiththe t_.ermostatset to defresl,the tempemEure

temperaturedOesovary,however,withroomtemperalure:
At upto 90°F(32 C) the compartmentwill maintain0F
(-18'C) or betterandat I10°F (43"C1it willstillmaintain
15°F(-9°C).

The comp_rtmentis basicallydesignedIo storef[ezen

of unfrozenfood.Inthiscase,itcan handle upto 3 I_
{about 1.5 k_los)per24 hourperiod,at ambient
temperaturesupto 90°F(32°C).

When at roomtemperalure,the food shouldbe placedin
the main compartmentof the_ef_igerator,to precoolfor
a few hours,

5.5. Defrosting
Aftera lime ice willbeginto collectonthe fins of the
evaporator(Et), to apointwhere itwi!lreducethe
efficiencyel the RefrigertatonThisis whythe Refrigerator
needsto bedefrostedperiodbatly.The intervalbetween
Iwodelre_tingoperatFenscan vary considerably:
from oneweektomere than amonth,dependingon the
climateandthe exlent towhichthe Refrigeratoris used.
We recommenddefrosl[ngwhenever50 per centof the
spacebetweenthefins is takenupby ice, Checkthe
upperportionolthe left handfins, wherethe ice is
inclinedto celrectmore quickly.
To defrostyou do not haveto removefood from the main
compartmentorfrom theFreezeJ',
Simplyset Ihethermostalknob(C2) to the "defrost"
position(C6),and leaveit for a coupteofhours,
The Refrigeratorwillcontinueto workona low flame Io
provideref_geralionfor the Freezer.
The ice on the finswill meltandrun througha d_ainIo
the rearof the Refrigeralorandinlo a numberof small
container(D51whereit willevaporale.
Checkthe fins to makesure thattheyare freeof ice
(someice remainingonthe lube canbe disregarded)

The RefrJgeratorwillsoon resumeits normaloperation,
TheFreezerneedsdefroslingless frequenUy.
Todefrost,see underitem 5.5.
Never useknives or sharp oblectsto removethe
ice layer. Youmay cause reakagein the ammonia
system.
if the evaporatoris heavily loadedwith ice,
defrostingmast notbe done asexplainedbefore,
sincethe capacityof the container(D5) is limited
to about one quart (one ffter) _zndthey might then
overflow.In this ease, follow the instructionsgiven
below,
5.6 Shutting down the Refrigerator (Fig. E)
TheabsorplionRefrigerate(is built toworkconlinuously
for manyyears, ]-here ere nomovingpa_ andthusno
friction.At times,however,it needsto beturnedoff:
= When it willnotbe usedfor sometime - forafew
weeksormere.
,*Whenthereis a largebuild-upof iceon the evaporator
orin thefrozenfoodstoragecompartment.
In suoh cases, the following procedure is recommended:
"Turn off Iha gas at the selector (C3) and remote aMthe
foodst_lfs,
Remove allthe toose componentsfrom the
Refrigerator, such as racks, drawers,etc.,
including the balteries for the lighting.

oTum the drip pan (E2) aroundsoIhat khedrainhereis
towardsthe front and place a suitablecontainerunder it,
to catchlhe runoffofmelting Fce.
Leave the deers open until aqlIhe ice has melted dc_,m
and then remove the container.
The melt-watertrom Ihe uppercompartmentis drained
down Ihrough(Ed) tothe drippan.
=Washthe componenls withwateranda mirddetergent
and then drythem.
=Clean _J:,_F_efrigeratctonthe insidewitha damp cloth
and wipe it dry.
= Reassemblethe components,turningthedrippanto ils
normal position.
If the Refrigerator is net to be used for some length el
lime, _eavethe doors ajar and d'o not reinstall the batteries
inthe lighting assembly.
6. Technicaldescription
Beforegoingintothe subjeels of maintenanceand
koubleshootiag,we wouldlike to provideabrief
descriptiononlhe fu_lional unitsofthe gas equipment,
whichwillmakefor a better understandingof these items.
6.1 The gas equipment (Fig. D)
The gasconnector(D14) isconnectedto a manualshut
offvalve (D13),normally"to be left open(handtein
alignmenlwithlhe gasflow).
The valve(D13) isconnectedto the combinationcontrol
valve(seefollowingitem) by aunion(D15).
If the Refrigeratoristo be remoeedfor maintenanceor the
like,closethevalve and uncouplethe union.The valvewill
keepthe endof the connectorsealed,thus maintaining
the gas supplysystemoperational
Toreconnectthe Relr_gerator,simplyhook-upthe union
again, openthe valveand use detergentto checkfor
leaksat Eneunionandadjoining fittings.The unionshould
notbe overl[ghtened.Tighlenfirm_ with the hand and
then a larther 10 or 20 degreeswithan open-endwrench,
oruntilthere areno leaks.
6.2 Combination control valve (Fig. G)
The conlrol has severalfunctions.Theinlet (G2) carries
agumfiller Io removecedaincontaminantsfromthe
gas.Alterthe lilter comesa se[eolorvalvewithits shaft
(G3) withtwo positions:openorclosed.Usethisto turn
off the Refrigerator,sinceit is notenoughto turnthe
thermostat(G4)down !o the warmeslposition.
Togetherwiththe selectorcomesthe flame-failure
dark>e,connectedby (GT)to the lhermocouple(H1) at
the burner.II the flameshould gooulfor anyreason, Ibis
will cutoff the gassupplywithinaboulforty seconds,
prevenlinglurther amountsof unbumtgas from
escaping.
To tightIha burner, it is necessary to keep the gas supply
open manually, by depressing (G3), until the flame
ignite& Within 3 to 4 seconds, the frame will heat the
thermocouple (H1) enough Io bold the gas passage
open.
6.3. Testing the flame-failure device (Fig. C)
Thedeviceis faiPsafe:any malfunction,suchas poor
electdccontacl,etc.,willcauseit to close.Even so, it
mustbe checkedlor properoperationwhenthe
Relffgeralorisfirstinstalledandthen periodicallylaleron
(see under" Periodic Maintenance"). The follczwingis to
be done',
a) Placethe Refrigeratorin operatlonwithIhe thermostat
setto the coldestposilion.
b) Closeandthen immediatelyopenIha selectorvalve
[c3),
Theflamewil_gooutbul the gassupplywillcontinueto
flow.
c) Listen carefully.In about 30 to 40 seconds you will
hear a slight but very dislinct "c1_c_€'to signify that the
valve hasclosed.
6.4 The thermostatic valve and the bypass
(Fig. G)
Thetemperatureis sensedvia a coppercapillarytube
(Gt) risingbehindtheRel_gerator(D3) andw_hthe tip
reachingintoa receplacleon Iheevaporator(El).
Thelemperatureo!the tip andthepositronofthe shaft
(G4) causethe passageotgas tothe bume_to opento a
greateror lesserextenl. Whenreinstallingthe capillary
tube altera repair,makesure that it fits properlyinto the
_eceptacleandcaulkthe cutlet {D2)with sealing
compound,
Evenwhenthethem]esteLlavalveis closed,a small
amountof gasstill p_ssesIhroughto keep the flame
alight and Ihe Freezercompartmentoperating,
This gas is meteredbyan orifice[n the bypass screw
(G6). The orificeis nonadjustableandthe screw
indicatesthe capacity.

6,5 Pressure outlet
The plug(G5)can be removedand replacedby a
pressureoultetcoupledto a pressuregauge.
Withthe Refrigeratoroperatingandthe Ihennostat
adjustedto the coldestsetting,the pressureshouldbe Ihe
sameasthe supplypressure,or 11inches(280ram)
watercolumn.

elementis faullyand the combinationconlrelvalvemust
be replaced.
Turningthe thermostatknoblo thewarmestsalting, you
shoutdsea lha pressuredropto the rangebetween 1.if2
and3 incheswalercolumn(providedthe tip of the
capillaryis 3_F (0_C)orcolder).
_fit dropsbelow t.lf2 inches,the bypassorificeis
clogged.
6.6 The burner (Fig. H)
The gaspassesthroughan or'dicedrilledby ahigh
precisionlaser beam in a tinyplateof ruby(HS)lodgedat
