Device Solut ions Gat eway & Sensor Installation Instructions 1 FCC Interference Statement Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Device Solutions could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment. Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • • • • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Using a Torx T10 driver, remove t he four 3/ 8” #4 screw s int o t he corners of the enclosure t op t hat fast en it to t he enclosure base. Connect t he bat t ery. Reinst all t he four 3/ 8” #4 screw s int o t he corners of t he enclosure t op t hat fasten it to t he enclosure base. The screw s must be tight ened to a t orque of 8.2 +/ -0.5 kgf-cm to ensure t hat t he IP68 rat ing is maint ained. 4. 5. At t ach t he enclosure t o a surface. The best RF performance is obt ained by mount ing t he Gatew ay t o a vert ical service. Insert t he ext ernal power plug int o t he jack and t ight en t he locking ring. Press t he butt on on t he Gat ew ay, t he green LED w ill illuminat e. The Gatew ay has become a WiFi Access Point . Using a lapt op or similar device connect t o t he “ DS-Cellio” net work. This is an unsecured connect ion and does not require a password. 6. 7. 8. 9. 5. Brow se to 192.168.10.1. Locat e t he desired system and press t he Join but t on. If required, enter t he passw ord for t he WiFi Access Point Reinst all t he four 3/ 8” #4 screw s int o t he corners of t he enclosure t op t hat fasten it to t he enclosure base. Use a Torx T10 driver to remove t he screw s t hat hold t he t op of t he Sensor's enclosure to t he baseplat e. 2. Verify t he signal st rengt h at t he Sensor. Note: This signal st rengt h monit oring process may only be executed on one Sensor at a t ime. a. Open t he Gat ew ay by using a Torx T10 bit to remove t he four screw s w hich hold t he enclosure t op to t he base plat e. b. Press t he butt on on t he Gat ew ay to ent er " Range Check M ode" . c. Wait for t he int ernal green LED to illuminate. d. Place t he Sensor w it hin 50 feet line of sight of t he Gat ew ay e. Reboot t he Sensor by removing and re-inst alling t he 9 volt bat t ery f. Wait for t he Sensor's int ernal LED to illuminat e (up t o 10 seconds) g. The color of t he LED indicates t he follow ing (red – poor signal qualit y, yellow – marginal signal qualit y, green – good signal qualit y) h. M ove t he Gat ew ay and/ or Sensor unt il t he Sensor displays a good signal condit ion for at least 5 consecut ive seconds. i. Repeat c t hrough g for each sensor. j. Disable " Range Check M ode" for t he Gatew ay by pressing t he butt on on t he Gat ew ay again (if t his st ep is forgot ten t he Gat eway w ill exit Range Check M ode in one hour) k. Turn off each Sensor by removing t he 9 volt bat t ery (if t his step is forgot t en t he sensor w ill exit install mode in five minut es) 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. St rip t he insulat ion from t he end of t ransducer w ires. Tin t he ends of t he t ransducer cable w it h a soldering iron. Trim t he t ransducer w ire such t hat only 0.25 inches remains uninsulated. Inspect t he t ransducer cable for loose solder and w ire st rands. Repeat st eps 3 t hrough 6 if found. Loose solder or w ire st rands can cause permanent damage t o t he Sensor and/ or t ransducer. Remove t he batt ery from the Sensor. Performing t he follow ing st eps w it h t he bat tery inst alled can lead t o permanent damage of t he device. Loosen t he nut from t he out side of t he cable rest raint show n above. Pass t he t ransducer w ires through t he cable rest raint . 10. Tight en t he cable rest raint nut t o t he cable rest raint . Not e: The t ransducer cable must be bet w een 2.9 and 6.4 mm in diamet er and must be t ight en to a t orque of 25-30 inch lbs to avoid w at er infilt rat ion. 11. At t ach t he t ransducer w ires t o t he t erminal blocks. This connect ion depends on t he type of t ransducer used. 12. Inst all t he 9 volt bat tery in t he sensor 13. Re-inst all t he screw s t hat hold t he t op of t he enclosure to t he baseplate. 14. At t ach t he enclosure t o a surface. The best RF performance is obt ained by mount ing t he Sensor vert ically.
