DXS-81 FEATURES

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The DXS-81 is a battery powered cash drawer bill trap with a built-in
transmitter designed for use with Linear’s DX Format receivers. This
transmitter can be used in a variety of retail hold-up applications.
The DXS-81 is concealed in a cash drawer under a stack of currency, with
a single “bait” bill secured in its money clip. During a hold-up, the cashier
removes the stack of currency along with the “bait” bill. When a “bait” bill is
removed, the transmitter sends a 1-second digitally coded wireless signal
to its companion receiver. Four additional 1-second signals are sent
within the first minute after the “bait” bill is removed. When the “bait” bill
is replaced, a restore signal is sent.
The jumper located under the battery door can be set to “ON” which will
send an hourly status signal or to “OFF” which will send a signal only after
an hour if the DXS-81 senses cash drawer motion.
The digital DX code format features over a million possible codes. The DX
transmitters are precoded at the factory to unique codes, so no field coding
is required. The DXS-81 can send three different signals: alarm, restore
and low battery.
For versatility, any transmitter can be programmed into any receiver
channel. Receivers must be programmed to the transmitter’s code before
system testing and operation. Refer to the receiver’s instructions for details
on programming.

The transmitter has a red test indicator which lights when a bill is in the trap
and the test button is pressed. It also lights when the “bait” bill is inserted
into the trap. For safety, the indicator doesn’t light when the “bait” bill
is removed. The test indicator will not light when pressing the test button
with the “bait” bill removed.
The test button is disabled for 60-seconds after removing the “bait” bill.
Pressing the test button without a bill in the trap sends an alarm signal.
Pressing the test button with a bill in the trap sends a restore signal.
The unit is powered from two 3-Volt lithium batteries with an expected
battery life of up to two years. When the batteries get low, the test indicator
will flash when the test button is pressed or when the bait bill is replaced.

NOTE: Do not store the unit without a “bait” bill or storage insert

Inside the transmitter is a rolling ball that detects when the cash drawer
opens and closes. In the “OFF” mode this determines when status
transmissions are sent. Because the transmitter’s signal might be shielded
in a closed cash drawer, the status signals are sent when the drawer is
opened. In the “ON” mode, the DXS-81 transmits status signals once per
hour regardless of motion. Some DX receivers can receive low battery
signals, others cannot (see receiver instructions).

IMPORTANT !!!
Linear radio controls provide a reliable communications link and fill an important need in portable wireless
signalling. However, there are some limitations which must be observed.
For U.S. installations only: The radios are required to comply with FCC Rules and Regulations as
Part 15 devices. As such, they have limited transmitter power and therefore limited range.
A receiver cannot respond to more than one transmitted signal at a time and may be blocked by
radio signals that occur on or near their operating frequencies, regardless of code settings.
Changes or modifications to the device may void FCC compliance.
Infrequently used radio links should be tested regularly to protect against undetected interference
or fault.
A general knowledge of radio and its vagaries should be gained prior to acting as a wholesale
distributor or dealer, and these facts should be communicated to the ultimate users.
