INTRODUCTION

Hardware items listed are approved for Pyropanel VP and SP Series doorsets. This approval does not

apply to other door types. The list is updated regularly but includes obsolete items which are listed for

reference purposes. Refer to website www.pacificdoors.co.nz for the most up-to-date list. All items

indicated in the list as [PDS] must be factory installed or prepared for by Pacific Door Systems Ltd.

Hardware for F0.5 doorsets is listed separately.

1. MECHANICAL LATCHES

Note: For fire doors to comply with AS/NZS 1905.1 the following conditions apply to latches:

• No non-self-latching functions are permitted, including deadlock bolts

• Materials for essential latching components must have a melting point of:

- For integrity up to and including 120 min not less than 890oC

- For integrity in excess of 120 min not less than 1030oC

13. SURFACE MOUNTED CLOSERS

Note:

• Fixture of surface-mounted closers to Pyropanel mineral fibre board cored fire doors requires self-

tapping screws, which must penetrate at least 32mm into the leaf.

• Cushioned backcheck function is required on all closers for compliance with AS/NZS 1905.1. All

listed closers comply with this requirement.

• Hold open devices are required on certain fire doors for compliance with NZ Building Code C/AS1

3.17.9. Requirements for fire detection to release hold-open devices are given in C/AS1 3.17.10.

• For fire doors on escape routes, NZBC C/AS1 requires closers to be adjustable to satisfy the

requirements for maximum forces required to open the door, set out in C/AS1 Appendix C 8.1.2.

Restrictions: 1. VP Series fire doors – All devices are surface-fixed and must be mounted using

at least nominal 5mm steel hex bolts passing through the leaf.

2. All devices in VP Series fire doors may be fitted to doorsets with timber or steel

jambs (except see Note 5)

3. Models without the F suffix have brass components and are therefore only rated

60 minutes.

4. Device may only be used in conjunction with a fire rated mortice or tubular latch

or lockset. Fire resistance is then dependent on the fire resistance of the latch or

lockset.

5. Steel frame only. Length adjustment mechanism for the vertical actuating rods

must be fitted with a nylon screw.
