Onzorgvuldig behandelen tijdens reparatie kan de levensduur drastisch doen verminderen. All ICs and many other semi-conductors are susceptible to electrostatic discharges (ESD). Careless handling during repair can reduce life drastically. When repairing, make sure that you are connected with the same potential as the mass of the set via a wrist wrap with resistance. Keep components and tools also at this potential. How to connect a plug The wires in the mains lead are coloured with the following code: blue = neutral (N), brown = live (L). Before replacing the plug cover, make cer tain that the cord grip is clamped over the sheath of the lead - not simply over the two wires. DICHIARAZIONE DI CONFORMITA’ Italia Note: These vered plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible shock hazard should it be inserted into a 13 Amp socket else where. If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug f itted in its place. If the mains plug contains a fuse, this should have a value of 5 Amp. If a plug without a fuse is used, the fuse at the distribution board should not be greater than 5 Amp. Ref it the fuse cover. Fix new fuse which should be a BS1362 5 Amp, A.S.T.A. or BSI approved type. Remove fuse cover and fuse. ¶ As these colours ma y not cor respond with the colour mar kings identifying the ter minals in your plug, proceed as follows: – Connect the blue wire to the terminal marked N or coloured black. – Connect the brown wire to the terminal marked L or coloured red. – Do not connect either wire to the earth terminal in the plug, marked E (or e) or coloured green (or green and yellow). 3 1 2 Mains plug This apparatus is fitted with an approved 13 Amp plug. To change a fuse in this type of plug proceed as follows: Important notes for users in the U.K. 2-3 PREPARATIONS AND CONTROLS C Demagnetising the heads ¶ Use a demagnetising tape available at your dealer. C B A B Cleaning the Heads and the Tape Paths ¶ To ensure good recording and playback quality, clean the heads A, the capstan(s) B, and pressure roller(s) C after every 50 hours of tape operation. ¶ Use a cotton swab slightly moistened with cleaning fluid or alcohol. ¶ You also can clean the heads by pla ying a cleaning tape once . “DISC NOT FINALIZED” is displayed. CD OPERATION “NO DISC” is displayed. Problem – Insert a disc. – Check if the disc is inser ted upside down. – Wait until the moisture condensation at the lens has cleared. – Replace or clean the disc , see “Maintenance”. – Use a finalised CD-R(W) or CD-R. Solution If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the system for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre. WARNING Under no circumstances should you tr y to repair the system your self, as this will invalidate the warranty. Do not open the system as there is a risk of electric shock. Troubleshooting Cleaning the disc lens ¶ After prolonged use, dirt or dust may accumulate at the disc lens. To ensure good playback quality, clean the disc lens with Philips CD Lens Cleaner or any commercially available cleaner. Follow the instructions supplied with the cleaner. Cleaning Discs ¶ When a disc becomes dirty, clean it with a cleaning cloth. Wipe the disc from the centre out. Do not wipe in a circular motion. ¶ Do not use solvents such as benzene , thinner, commercially available cleaners, or antistatic spray intended for analogue records. Cleaning the Cabinet ¶ Use a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use a solution containing alcohol, spirits, ammonia or abrasives. Maintenance The system displays features automatically and buttons start flashing. The Clock/Timer setting is erased. Not all lighted buttons are showing light. The timer is not working. The left and right sound outputs are reversed. The remote control does not function properly. GENERAL The system does not react when buttons are pressed. Sound cannot be heard or is of poor quality. The tape deck door cannot open. TAPE OPERATION/RECORDING Recording or playback cannot be made. RADIO RECEPTION Radio reception is poor. – Select the source (CD or TUNER, for example) bef ore pressing the function button (É,í,ë). – Reduce the distance between the remote control and the system. – Insert the batter ies with their polar ities (+/– signs) aligned as indicated. – Replace the batteries. – Point the remote control in the direction of the system’ s IR sensor . – Set the clock cor rectly. – Press TIMER ON/OFF to switch on the timer. – If recording is in progress, stop recording. – Press DISPLAY to select NORMAL or MODE 1 display mode . – Power has been interrupted or the power cord has been disconnected. Reset the clock/timer . – Press and hold DEMO STOP Çon the system to switch off the demonstration. – Remove and reconnect the AC power plug and switch on the system again. – Adjust the volume . – Disconnect the headphones. – Check that the speaker s are connected correctly. – Check if the stripped speaker wire is clamped. – Check the speaker connections and location. – Clean deck par ts, see “Maintenance”. – Use only NORMAL (IEC I) tape. – Apply a piece of adhesive tape over the missing tab space. – Remo ve and reconnect the AC power plug and switch on the system again. – If the signal is too weak, adjust the antenna or connect an exter nal antenna for better reception. – Increase the distance between the Mini HiFi System and your TV or VCR. Troubleshooting 2-4 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING 3-1 3-1 DISMANTLING INSTRUCTIONS Dismantling of the Lens Cassette 1) Uncatch 4 catches along the edge of the Cassette door (pos 5) as shown in figure 1 and 2 to remove the Lens cassette (pos 2). Figure 2: Left Cassette door Figure 1 Figure 4 Dismantling the 3CDC Module Dismantling of the Panel Rear 1) Loosen the 4 screws, slide Cover top (pos 30) towards the rear and remove it upwards. 2) Loosen 3 screws slide the Panel right (pos 26) towards the 3 until the CDC tray starts to move out of the Front Cabinet (pos 8). The CDC tray is now disengage and can be pulled out completely. rear and remove it outwards. Do likewise for the Panel left (pos 27). 4) Remove the Cover Tray (pos 29) as shown in figure 4. 5) Loosen 4 screws A to remove the CDC Module (pos 28) as 3) Push the gear slowly towards the front as shown in figure 1) Loosen 6 screws C on the Panel rear (pos 24). 2) Press the 2 catches C1 inwards and dismantle the Panel rear by pulling it towards the rear. shown in figure 3. E1005 Jump-offtrack error Triggered in normal play when the jump destination could not be found within a certain time. When this error occurred, software will try to recover by initiating the jump command again. If it is recoverable, the disc will continue to play. E1006 Subcode Error Triggered when a new subcode was missing for a certain time during play. E1007 PLL Error The Phase Lock Loop could not lock within a certain time. E1008 Turntable Motor Error Generated when the CD could not reached 75% of speed during startup within a certain time. Discmotor problem. E1020 Focus Search Error The focus point has not been found within a certain time. E1070 This happens when the carousel switch is defective and closed all the time, or when the carousel is blocked when it is located exactly at a disc position. E1071 This happens when the carousel switch is defective and does not closed electrically, or when the carousel is blocked in between two disc positions. The time-out is approximately 5 Sec. E1079 The drawer could not open or enter the inside position and is opening again. This happen when the drawer is blocked and cannot go fully inside or when the drawer switch is defective and does not close. THAT´S WHY, BESIDES THE SAFETY MEASURES LIKE • SWITCH OFF POWER SUPPLY • ESD PROTECTION ADDITIONAL ACTIONS MUST BE TAKEN BY THE REPAIR TECHNICIAN. The following steps have to be done when replacing the CD mechanism: 1. Disconnect flexfoil cable from the old CD drive 2. Put a paperclip on the flexfoil to short-circuit the contacts (fig.1) 3. Remove the old CD drive 4. Remove paperclip from the flexfoil and connect it to the new drive 5. Position the new CD drive in its studs 6. Remove solder joint from the Laserunit fig.1 Attention: The laser diode of this CD drive is protected against ESD by a solder joint which shortcircuits the laserdiode to ground. For proper functionality of the CD drive this solder joint must be removed after connection the drive to the set. Emergency open In case of a Supply fault, the tray can be opened manually. 1.
