HERZ-Thermostatic valves

Documentation

The maximum permissible differential pressure for all HERZThermostatic valves is 0.6 bar, with the exception of dimensions
3/4 and 1 with 0.4 bar and HERZ-TS-90-E and HERZ-TS-E with
0.2 bar.

Order number

Thermostatic heads and valves marked with the CENCER mark
of conformity in the HERZ-Product Range have been tested according to EN 215.

Brochures, standard sheets and tender data sheets are available for all HERZ-Products and product groups. Your HERZRepresentatives will be glad to supply these materials upon
request.

In order to reduce noise during operation the differential pressure
should be determined in accordance with the “VDMA Instruction
Sheet for Planning and Hydraulic Balancing of Heating Systems
with Thermostatic Radiator Valves” (max. 0.2 bar).

The seven-digit numbers include the former four-digit article
number in bold print. The order number defines the valve to
be ordered in terms of series, dimension, colour and model
and is suitable for electronic data processing. You are kindly
requested to use this number in your orders in order to rule out
any confusion.

Universal models

ean, VKE

The same applies to STRÖMAX, STRÖMAX-D, STRÖMAX-M,
STRÖMAX-R 1/2. A special adapter is available for dimension
3/4.

ARA

HERZ-Radiator valves and threaded radiator connections of
sizes 3/8 – 3/4 are universal models with special sockets, except
HERZ-TS-E and HERZ-RL-1-E. They are suitable for connecting
threaded pipes with a pipe thread and copper, soft steel or plastic pipes, the latter three by means of a compression union.

The corresponding tables show the wide variety of compression
unions.

Standard models

HERZ-AS and radiator connections 1 and 11⁄4, HERZ-TS-valves
1, as well as HERZ-TS-E-valves are standard models with
threaded sockets for threaded pipes.

Nickel-plated and Brass Versions

Unless otherwise stated, HERZ-Fittings and HERZ-Distributor
connection systems are supplied with a nickel-plated surface.
Pipe fittings are mainly installed in boiler houses or in riser mains.
Unless otherwise stated, these valves are supplied in brass version.

Technical Data
for all HERZ-Fittings

Maximum operating temperature TS 120 °C
Maximum operating pressure PS
10 bar
These values are valid unless otherwise stated in the article
description.
Hot water quality according Austrian Standard ÖNORM H 5195
and/or VDI-Regulation 2035.
Storage temperature (not installed) – 40 °C until 60 °C.

for compression unions for metal pipes.

When using compression unions for copper and steel pipes,
take into account the permissible temperature and pressure ratings according to EN 1254-2:1998, Table 5.

The European Article Number (ean) is a thirteen-digit number
featuring the country and manufacturer code – ean 90 04174, as
well as the product code and check digit.
The ean is valid for one unit or one invoicing unit and not for the
sales units (VKE = Verkaufseinheiten) specified. We will be glad
to send you the ean list for sales units (VKE) upon request.

necessitated by technological progress and/or market
requirements, and to supply modified products without prior

Tentative standard DIN V3838 “Euro cone”,
threaded connection G 3/4 A with inner cone

As the currently valid provisional standard, DIN V3838, can still
be altered up to the time when the definitive standard comes
into force, and the period up to when all products on offer
correspond to the standard is not known, a mix of products
from different manufacturers for the connection of fittings and
compression adapters should be avoided for reasons of safety
if any doubts should arise about their compatibility HERZ offers
a comprehensive pipe connection programme and guarantees
that current as well as future developments of HERZ compression
connections are always an exact fit with HERZ fittings, so that
combination with other brands of product is not necessary.
As HERZ cannot assume any guarantee for other brands of
products, combinations with other manufacturers’ products are
outside the HERZ guarantee.

for plastic pipe connections

Plastic pipe connections are suitable for application classes
4 and 5 according ISO 10508 (panel heating and radiator
connection) as well as for pipes made of PE-RT (DIN 4721),
PE-MDX (DIN 4724), PB and PE-X (DIN 4726) as well as lastic
composite tubes (ÖNORM B 5157).
Operating temperature, resulting thereof: maximum 95 °C with
10 bar. It is the operators task, to regulate the operating pressure Poper and the operating temperature Toper in such a way
that they are conforming to standards and that operational data
of the pipe producer are respected.
Any deviations from this data are specially mentioned in the
technical documentation.

Hand Wheel Colours

Hand wheels and plastic components are white, in case of pipe
fittings they are red. When colours are different, this is specially
mentioned. Special colours are available upon enquiry.
