About The Device

The NIPPY Clearway is a mechanical insufflation-exsufflation device (MI-E).  
The NIPPY Clearway is licensed as a therapy device and can be used for adults and paediatric patients
as directed by a competent physician.
The NIPPY Clearway can be used with a face mask, via a mouthpiece or connected directly to the
tracheostomy tube.

Un-locking/Locking the device

To unlock the device, push and hold simultaneously the + and – button for 3 to 4 seconds until the
padlock on the bottom right of the screen unlocks.
To lock the device, again, hold the + and – button simultaneously for 3 to 4 seconds until the padlock
on the screen shows as locked.

Clear Settings
•

To clear the settings, press the menu button and then select option 4 – clear patient settings.  Then
follow the instructions on the device.

Set Up - Manual Mode

Once the settings are cleared you will be in manual mode as default.
To set the insufflation pressure, press the insufflation button, then use the + and – keys to select the
required pressure, confirm by pressing set.
To set the exsufflation pressure, press the exsufflation button, then use + and – keys to select the
required pressure, confirm by pressing set.
Using either the manual control or front button, you can deliver the therapy manually. You control the
insufflation and exsuffation times as well as the pause time manually.

Set Up – Basic Auto

To select basic auto mode, press the mode button, use the  – key to scroll down to basic auto mode,
number 2 in the menu, and press set to select.
To set the insufflation and exsufflation pressures, press the insufflation or exsufflation button, then use
the + and – keys to select the required pressure, confirm by pressing set.
To set the insufflation (Ti) and exsufflation times (Te), select the appropriate button, Ti or Te and use
the + or – keys to set the time, confirm the correct time by pressing set.
To set the pause, press  the pause button, then using the + or – keys select the appropriate pause time,
confirm this by pressing set.
To start the therapy press the start button, this will give maximum 20 cycles, to stop the therapy before
this press the start button again.
