1)  Log  in  with  Institutional  Credentials
https://portal.tacc.utexas.edu/utdr

2)  Create  a  New  TACC  Account

3)  Fill  out  all  Information

5)  Log  in  to  the  TACC  User  Portal

*The  TACC  username  /  password  used  here  will  
also  be  used  to  log  in  to  the  appropriate  clusters.

Log  in  to  the  Cluster

1)  Try  logging  in  to  the  Cluster  (Mac/Linux)
Open   the  program   ‘Terminal’
Type  ‘ssh username@cluster.tacc.utexas.edu’
>replace  ‘username’   with  the  username   you  use  to  login  to  the  TACC  Portal
>replace  ‘cluster’ with  the  appropriate   cluster  (‘stampede’   or  ‘lonestar’)
Type  your  password,  hit  ‘return’
>same  password  as  the  TACC  Portal
(example  below)

2)  Try  logging  in  to  the  Cluster  (Windows)
Download   and  install  the  program  ‘PuTTY’
>http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
Enter  the  hostname:   ‘cluster.tacc.utexas.edu’,   click  ‘Open’
>replace  ‘cluster’ with  the  appropriate   cluster  (‘stampede’   or  ‘lonestar’)
Enter  your  TACC  username   and   password,  hitting  ‘return’  after  each
>same  username   and  password  as  the  TACC  portal

3)  Troubleshooting
• If  your  username  and  password  are  not  accepted,  first  make  sure  that  
they  work  in  the  TACC   User  Portal:  
https://portal.tacc.utexas.edu
• If  they  work  in  the  Portal,  but  not  on  the  cluster,  AND   you  have  received  
confirmation  that  you  were  added  to  a  project  /  allocation,  then  reset  
your  password  and  try  again  in  30  minutes:
https://portal.tacc.utexas.edu/password-­reset
• If,  after  resetting  your  password  and  trying  again,  you  still  are  unable  to  
log  in  to  the  cluster,  then  submit  a  ticket  to  the  TACC  help  desk  
describing  the  problem:
