TIP Test Selection Engine User Guide • 17 February 2015 1-i Introduction to TIP Test Selection Engine Overview Overview This guide is intended to help acquirers using the TIP Test Selection Engine (TSE) when running a MasterCard Terminal Integration Process (M-TIP) test session. This guide complements the M-TIP Process Guide by describing TSE key functions and how to access them. MasterCard provides this document for acquirers and their authorized agents. Specifically, acquirer staff performing M-TIP should find this document useful. What is the TIP Test Selection Engine M-TIP is a test process that assesses whether a given Acquirer Deployment1 will not damage MasterCard operations or brand reputation. M-TIP focuses on conformance against important requirements that directly affect acceptance. The TIP Test Selection Engine (TSE) is a key tool supporting M-TIP. It allows acquirers to generate the M-TIP test plan applicable to a particular Acquirer Deployment. Once the test plan has been created, M-TIP testing consists in running test cases from the test plan, using an M-TIP qualified test tool. M-TIP qualified test tools are provided as either a set of physical cards or a card emulation tool. M-TIP qualified test tools are listed in M/Chip Qualified Test Tools. M-TIP requires that the test cases results—made of card/terminal interactions logs and acquirer host network messages logs—be validated by an independent, accredited TIP service provider. TSE supports that task by: • Allowing the acquirer to record a pass or fail status for each test case run, together with any useful observations or comments • Attaching log files corresponding to each test case • Creating a data package containing all information needed by the TIP service provider for validation. That data package can conveniently be sent by email • Displaying and processing the feedback from the TIP service provider in case some test cases are unsuccessful. Several vendors offer enhanced test tools that automate large parts of the testing process by parsing log files and determining whether test cases pass or fail. Such tools may interact with TSE. Acquirer may contact their tool vendor for more information about how their tool integrates with TSE. 1. Refer to the M-TIP Process Guide for a detailed definition of ‘Acquirer Deployment’. ©2015 MasterCard. Proprietary. All rights reserved. TIP Test Selection Engine User Guide • 17 February 2015 1-1 Introduction to TIP Test Selection Engine System Requirements System Requirements TSE is a MasterCard developed application software, packaged as an executable file and available from MasterCard Connect. TSE requires a computer running a Windows® operating system (XP or newer), with the system privileges required to download and run executable (.exe) files. Installation and Upgrade of TSE and TIP Test Set M-TIP must always be performed with the latest version available of TSE software and TIP Test Set. Before initiating a new M-TIP test session, it is best practice to check if new versions are available on MasterCard Connect. The following sections detail the steps necessary to install and upgrade TSE and TIP Test Set. Installing TSE Use the following procedure to install the TIP Test Selection Engine (TSE). Procedure 1. Download the TSE software package from MasterCard Connect> Publications> Chip Information Center and save it on a local drive. 2. Unzip the compressed file into a TSE folder on the local drive. 3. In order to optimize the user experience and minimize the number of questions to be asked, TSE predefines as much details as possible, based on the M/Chip Requirements. For example, when defining the configuration for a contact ATM, you will never be asked a question about the CVMs supported by your ATM. That is because a contact ATM must only support Online PIN. That information will be shown on the Review Information page. Carefully review the information and ensure that the actual terminal configuration is fully in line with all the details mentioned. 4. Once the review of the answers is completed, click Continue to generate the Test Plan. The Test Plan is automatically displayed in the Test List view. 5. Creating a Copy TSE allows you to create a new M-TIP test session from an existing TSE M-TIP test session. This feature may be used in two cases: • Acquirers needing to quickly initiate a new M-TIP session for a new terminal or terminal configuration and who are keen avoiding having to redefine the same acquiring environment • Acquirers needing to run a Fast Track M-TIP based on a previous TSE M-TIP test session. That original M-TIP is referred to as the Reference M-TIP Use the following procedure to create a copy. Procedure 1. Install the latest versions of the TSE and Test Set as described in the Installation and Upgrade of TSE and TIP Test Set section. 2. In TSE, open the Reference M-TIP .tse file or the .tsez package, using Test Run> Open. 3. Click Select> Create Copy to start a new M-TIP session. This will: 3-4 • Create a new M-TIP session, with a new TIP Tracking Number • Keep a record of the TIP Tracking Number of the Reference M-TIP • Copy the answers to all questions from the Reference M-TIP into the new M-TIP session • Copy the test results, the log files reference and the attachments reference ©2015 MasterCard. Click one of the following in the Create Copy dialog box: • Yes to clear test results. This will remove all pass criteria status, and all reference to test log files but will keep the attachments linked to the M-TIP session. • No to keep the test results of the Reference M-TIP. 5. Once the copy is completed, edit the questions in the Question Form as required. NOTE The test plan will be automatically adapted based on modified answers. Based on the number of changes, the M-TIP session may no longer be considered as a Fast Track M-TIP by the service provider, and all tests part of the test plan may need to be run. 6.
