Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Safety 1st Grow-With-Me Intercom Monitor. This is a
multifunctional, state-of-the-art monitor that features a convenient intercom mode that

switch with a lock-out feature for
parental control, thus providing complete 2-way communication. By using 900MHz
technology, these units provide superior clarity with an extended range of up to 1000 feet.
The baby’s unit can also be simply converted to a fully portable toddler unit by removing
it from its base and easily clipping it to the child’s clothing. Both units feature unique
“rubberized” bases that allow them to placed on dresser tops and counters more securely.
The parent’s unit may be clipped to a belt for additional mobility, and utilizes and audio
and visual alarm to indicate signal loss. The units have 4 channels to minimize outside
interference and offer additional privacy.
The parents’ unit may be used with AC power or with 4 AAA batteries (not included) for
portability. The baby’s detachable transmitter is recharged from its AC powered base,
providing hours of continuous portable use.

Operating Your Grow-With-Me Intercom Monitor
Follow these instructions to operate your Grow-With-Me Intercom Monitor. Reference
the illustrations on pages 2 & 3 for the location of all features described in these
instructions.
Baby’s Unit:
For best results, place the Baby’s Unit on a table near the crib or bed. It should be facing
the baby’s head as close to the crib as possible, but out of baby’s reach.
STEP 1 Plug the round end of adapter cord into the jack on the Baby’s base unit, then
plug the the adapter into an electrical outlet . The LED Light on the Base should be
illuminated and solid green and the LED Light on the detachable toddler unit should be
illuminated and a solid green (if fully recharged). LED indicator will be solid red if
toddler unit is recharging.
STEP 2 Remove the battery compartment door on the back of the baby’s Base unit.
Select one of the four channel options. If you experience static or noise interference
select one of the remaining three channels and note your selection on a separate piece of
paper. Replace the Battery compartment door.
STEP 3 As baby grows older and mobile detach portable toddler unit fom Base Unit as
shown.
(LD of hand separting pieces)
STEP 4 Using Child Resistant Clip on back of portable toddler unit, attach to baby’s
clothing as shown.
(LD of hand attaching monitor to clothing)
STEP 5 Portable toddler unit normally blinks green when it is out of its base. After
several hours of continuous use the LED Light on the portable toddler’s unit will blink
red, indicating low battery-needs recharging. Return toddler’s unit to Base Unit. When
reattached and switched ON, LED on portable toddler’s unit will glow solid green. When
Base Unit is switched OFF, LED will change to solid red, indicating recharging in
progress. Overnight recharging is recommended. The portable toddler’s unit may now be
re-separated from the Base Unit and reattached to baby’s clothing.
STEP 6 After sustained use and numerous recharging cycles, the recharge-able batteries
may need to be replaced. Remove screw from Rechargeable Battery Compartment cover
on back of Base Unit; remove cover.
(LD of batter screw/door being removed)
STEP 7 Remove Rechargeable battery and unclip power source wire as
shown. Take battery to store with you to assure a correct battery selection
when purchasing a replacement
(LD of Battery clip being separated)
STEP 8 Reattach new battery power source wire to Base unit power source
clip as shown.
(LD of Battery clip being reattached)
STEP 9 Replace Rechargeable Battery Compartment Door and resecure screw.
(LD of batter screw/door being resecured)
Parent’s Unit:
For best results, the Parent’s Unit should be placed at least 10 feet away
from the Baby’s unit. The Parent’s Unit can be mounted to the wall by using
a screw (not included) to hang the unit using the keyhole on the belt clip on
the back of the unit.
STEP 1 Select Channel to correspond to Channel on Baby’s Unit.
STEP 2 Place the Parent’s Unit at least 10 feet from the Baby’s Unit.
STEP 3 Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet, then plug the round end of
the adapter cord into the jack on the Parent’s Unit. Turn the Unit on and set
an appropriate volume level to hear baby at all times. The power-on LED Light on the
Unit should be illuminated and solid green. Note: If using optional 4 AAA batteries (not
included) for power, power-on LED will glow solid red when batteries need replacing.
STEP 4 For optional battery power, do not attach AC Adapter. Slide the
Battery Door open in the direction of the arrow and insert 4 AAA batteries
(not included). Ensure the (+) and (-) symbols match those shown in battery compartment
as shown.
(LD of battery insertion)
Using Intercom Feature
STEP 1 To let baby hear your voice, press Talk Button and speak directly into the
microphone.
STEP 2 Release Talk Button to hear bab’s response or to monitor sounds
STEP 3 To lock out Talk Button from unsupervised use, slide button up as
shown. This prevents anyone from talking to the baby unit.
Note: If you experience static or noise interference, switch both units to an
alternate channel.
(LD of button operation for lock-out)
Note: If you experience a power failure, the Parent’s Unit and the Baby’s
Unit will not automatically switch to battery power. You must disconnect the
AC Adapters from the Parent’s and the Baby’s Unit. You must separate the
Baby’s Portable Monitor from the Base unit to use the rechargeable battery
power and you must insert 4 AAA batteries (not included) into the Parent’s
unit for battery power.
LED SOUND LEVEL LIGHT INDICATORS/AUDIO-VISUAL ALARM INDICATORS
The five (5) RED LEDs at the top of the Parent’s Unit light up to display the
sound level coming from your baby. These sound level indicators are facto-ry pre-set and
are not affected by the volume setting. This feature allows
you to view the relative volume level of your baby’s sounds. It is most effec-tive when
you are in a noisy environment and may not be able to hear your
baby’s sounds clearly. The louder the sound, the more RED LEDs will light
up.
These RED LEDs, along with the Speaker, also serve as a loss of signal
alarm. When the Parent’s unit is too far from the Baby’s Unit for monitoring,
the LEDs will flash and the Speaker will give off an audible alarm. Do Not
use this feature as a “seek” function to locate your child.
Operating Tips
• Make sure that both units are on the same channel. Even though you may
hear your baby’s sounds, proper use of this system requires that both units
must be on the same channel. If the units are on different channels, the sig-nalsfrom the
Baby’s Unit may be strong enough to be picked up by the
Parent’s Unit, but these signals are unreliable and may contain substantial
static.
•When using the AC Adapters with household electricity, make sure the out-let has
power. Some electrical outlets are powered through a wall switch in
the room. If both Units are plugged in and”ON” , the Power indicator LEDs
should be lit. If this does not take place, try placing the wall switch in the
room in another position.
