Product Description
The Elpas Personnel Identity Badge is a supervised triple-tech, 2-
way, Active RFID Tag that provides wireless real-time monitoring
and tracking of workers that may be at-risk of workplace related
attacks or injuries.
The unique form factor of the
badge allows it to serve as a
photo ID personnel badge. When
you insert it into its
corresponding card holder (sold
separately), you can bundle the
badge with ISO standard
credentials and wear it horizontally (landscape format) or
vertically (portrait format). Additionally, the badge can also serve
as a proximity ID key with legacy access control installations.
The badge emits EMI safe RF (433MHz) receives IR (800nm)
data messages and then, and receives Ack (Acknowledge) RF
messages that confirm transmission success. This data enables
real-time sub-room level location awareness of the protected
employee, which Elpas Safety, Security & Visibility Solutions or
other management and building access control systems can use.
The badge also features dual call-button duress alerting and an
onboard LF (125 KHz) receiver that enables instantaneous near-
exit location detection for staff/patient/guest escort to administer
procedures in addition to triggering near-exit access control alert
response protocols.
The Personnel Identity Badge is IP66 rated, cleanable with
alcohol based disinfectants and is powered by a field-replaceable
lithium battery.
.
Supported Event Transmissions
Personnel Identity Badges supports LF, Battery, Motion,
Motionless, Exit from LF and two discrete Button Press supervision
events; designated B1 & B2:
Button Press Events
Upon a button press, an RF
message is transmitted (about
1ms in duration) and receives
an RF Ack message when the
system receives the
transmission. Without Ack, the
badge retries to transmit four more times, 50ms apart prior to
deactivation B1=1 and B2=1.
When the buttons are released, B1=0 and B2=0. Another RF
message is transmitted until it receives the Ack message or tries
five more times. In the steady state (no button press / button
release) B1=0 and B2=0.
IMPORTANT: The badge does not support the transmission of two
simultaneous button press supervision events.
Event Transmission Rates in LF Zones
Moving Badge
LF Response Time: Onboard LF receiver polls every 250ms to
check if the badge is in an LF zone.
Transmission Rate: One RF supervision transmission (about 1ms
in duration). If does not receive Ack transmission, retries four times,
50ms apart.
Transmitted Message Type: RF Data Message includes ID code of
LF Beacon. Motion bit, M=1.
Motionless Badge
LF Response Time: Onboard LF receiver polls every 250ms to
check if the badge is in an LF zone
Transmission Rate: One RF supervision transmission (about 1ms
in duration). If does not receive Ack transmission, retries four times,
50ms apart.
Transmitted Message Type: RF Data Message includes ID code of
LF Beacon. Motion bit, M=0

Badge Activation - Initial Usage
1. Orient the badge back-cover side
up. Then press & hold down the
larger of two emergency call
buttons for
at least 6 seconds
2. If the activation process was
successful the red LED on the
front of the badge will illuminate
for about six seconds.
Attaching a Paper Photo ID
1. Ensure that the photo ID paper
label is trimmed so that it lies
flatly (picture/text side up) in
the recessed area on the front
of the badge.
2. Peel off the protective
layer on the front and
rear of the label cover
(P/T: 5-PBA90004).
3. Finally, remove the label cover’s adhesive backing and carefully
place it (adhesive edge down) onto the badge so that it neatly
holds the paper label correctly in place.
Battery Replacement
1. Temporarily disable the Badge in the Eiris software.
2. Place the badge back cover side up on a clear dry level surface.
Using a Phillips-type screwdriver that fits the battery cover
screws, unscrew the 4 screws that holds the battery cover in

inserting a small screw driver into either of the square slots
adjacent to the battery cover. Gently lever the screw driver
outwards until the battery cover releases from the badge.
4. Remove the worn-out battery from the badge and dispose of it
according to manufacturer’s instructions.
CAUTION! After removing the battery please wait at least 30 seconds
before installing the replacement battery so as to not cause damage to the tag
or to negatively affect the tag’s operational performance.
Caution! Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
5. Insert a new battery into the compartment, ensuring that that the
positive (+) side of the battery faces up.
6. Align the battery cover so that its flat edge fits correctly into the
badge’s back cover prior to seating the cover into place.
7. Once the battery cover is in place, tighten its 4 screws into place.
