Requires three "C" batteries for operation (included). Adult assembly is required for battery replacement. Tool required for battery installation: Phillips screwdriver (not included). i b l e …w Discover what ’s poss ™ 1 ww.f is e p r ic her- .c o m Battery Replacement For best performance, we recommend replacing the batteries that came with this toy, with three, new “C” (LR14) alkaline batteries. • Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the toy. • Loosen the screws in the battery compartment door with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the battery compartment door. • Remove the exhausted batteries from the battery compartment and properly discard them. • Insert three “C” (LR14) alkaline batteries as indicated inside the battery compartment. Hint: We recommend using alkaline batteries for longer battery life. • Replace the battery compartment door and tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not over-tighten. • When sounds from this toy become faint or stop working, it’s time for an adult to replace the batteries! 1.5V x 3 “C” (LR14) SHOWN ACTUAL SIZE Battery Compartment Door Battery Tips • Do not mix old and new batteries. • Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium). • Remove the batteries during long periods of non-use. Always remove exhausted batteries from the toy. Battery leakage and corrosion can damage this toy. Dispose of batteries safely. • Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries may explode or leak. • Never short circuit the battery terminals. • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. 2 • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended in the “Battery Replacement” instructions are to be used. • If removable rechargeable batteries are used, they are only to be charged under adult supervision. • Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before they are charged. • If you use a battery charger, it should be examined regularly for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure and other parts. Do not use a damaged battery charger until it has been properly repaired. Tuffy the Dump Truck™ ON OFF Shift Lever Elevator • Locate the On/Off switch on the bottom of the toy. • Slide the switch to the position to turn the toy on and to the position to turn it off. y to “Read rum m u r rum !” rumble On/Off Switch (under toy) Note: The phrase shown in quotes is random response by this toy. Idle Mode • To start idle mode, make sure the shift lever is down, then press down on the driver while he is in the driver’s seat. • In idle mode, the driver and truck converse, the truck’s motor will rumble and its eyes and “mouth” move. Overdrive Mode • Lift the shift lever to switch the truck to overdrive. • In overdrive mode the truck drives forward and talks while its eyes and “mouth” move. • When the truck stops, you can restart overdrive in either of two ways: - Push the shift lever down and lift it again. - Push down on the driver, in the driver’s seat (with the lever up). Hint: In either mode, move the elevator up and down to hear more sound effects. 3 Flash the Fire Truck™ ON OFF • Locate the On/Off switch on the bottom of the toy. • Slide the switch to the position to turn the toy on and to the position to turn it off. Overdrive Mode • Press the lever down to switch the fire truck to overdrive. • In overdrive mode, the fire truck drives forward and talks while its eyes and "mouth" move. • When the truck stops, you can restart overdrive in either of two ways: - Lift the shift lever and press it down again. - Push down on the firefighter, in the driver’s seat (with the lever down).
