Installation and User Instructions for S823 Readers1Mount the BackplateTo mount the backplate:1) Remove the two screws taped to the insideof the backplate.2) Mount the backplate adjacent to the openingedge of the door and at a convenient height.Feed the cable to the reader through thebackplate.3) Use the screws removed in step 1 to securethe backplate to the main body of the reader(see opposite).The backplate has suitable holes for connection to most standard electrical backboxes.Screws to attachbackplate to readerThe S823 is a contactless smart-card reader, which usesp.The S823 is able to read Philips MIFARE and PhilipsMIFARE DESfire smart cards.For either type of card, the S823 supports the use ofunencoded cards (where only the unique card serialnumber is read), or cards encoded with a card number.Several encoding formats are supported.The reader can simultaneously support two different cardtypes/formats (e.g. non-encoded MIFARE and smartMAX-encoded MIFARE DESfire, or non-encoded MIFARE andsmartMAX-encoded MIFARE).
