Your product package includes everything you need to start using FreeSpeak right away. Inside, you’ll find the following items: • One JABRA FreeSpeak headset with custom ear gels for your ears • One adapter unit that is also a charger and holder • Cable to connect the adapter unit to non-Bluetooth phones • The FreeSpeak User Guide What is FreeSpeak ? FreeSpeak is a Bluetooth − enabled headset for your mobile phone. It fits over your left or right ear and connects to your phone without a cable. The physical connection from FreeSpeak to your phone is radio waves. Bluetooth technology enables wireless connections. Devices interconnect using radio waves. Bluetooth devices operate in the 2.4 GHz spectrum— the same spectrum at which the microwave in your home operates. Stay in touch. Listen and talk on the phone using FreeSpeak wherever you are. While: • Driving, rest the phone on the passenger seat and keep your focus on driving. • Working, keep the phone out of the way. Using FreeSpeak with a Mobile Phone FreeSpeak works with all Bluetooth-enabled phones. For the latest information regarding supported phones, access the Jabra web site at www.jabra.com. If you don’t have a Bluetooth-enabled phone, you can still use FreeSpeak. You will need to connect the adapter unit to the mobile phone before using the headset. For details, see Using FreeSpeak with non-Bluetooth Phones. Fast Start To get started right away, perform these steps: Charge the headset. Pair FreeSpeak to the phone. Place FreeSpeak over your left or right ear. Adjust speaker volume. Make the call. Charging the Battery The first time you use FreeSpeak, you need to charge the battery. A full charge takes up to two hours. After you charge the battery, pair the headset with the phone, and then engage in conversations. To charge the battery Place the headset in the adapter unit. Connect the adapter unit to your AC connector. Plug the AC connector to the wall. Adapter unit also functions as a charger and holder Note: The built-in lifetime battery is not replaceable. If you experience problems with the battery, return FreeSpeak to the place of purchase. Pairing FreeSpeak with a Mobile Phone Pairing the headset with the mobile phone enables the phone to identify the headset as a device with which to communicate wirelessly. You need to individually pair the headset with all mobile phones you plan to use. Use the headset with one phone at a time. The pairing code assigned to your phone is fixed at 0000. The combination of unique idenfication assigned to the phone, along with the pairing code, secures your phone conversations. To pair the headset Make sure the phone is ON/OFF? Press and hold WHAT BUTTON ON THE PHONE? for 10 seconds. Would be nice to show a picture of the the GUI here Observe the following action on the headset’s LED: • The LED will glow steadily and then flash Off and then On. On the mobile phone, DO WHAT? Wearing FreeSpeak FreeSpeak fits on either ear. Simply rotate the ear gel to fit into your left or right ear. To wear the headset Hold the headset in your right or left hand. Wear FreeSpeak on the left or right ear Place it over and behind the ear as shown in the illustration. Make any fine adjustments. Rotate the ear gel to fit the way you want Note: You can change the ear gel by removing and replacing it with the new gel. Your package includes three ear gels. The notch on the ear gel and on the ear piece indicates proper alignment. 10 Making the Call Use your mobile phone as usual. If your phone supports voiceactivated dialing and voice recognition, FreeSpeak initiates calls when you speak into the microphone. To make calls using the headset Speak the information into the headset’s microphone. Engage in conversations as usual. To end a call Use your phone’s features for ending a call. DO THEY TURN OFF FREESPEAK? 11 Using FreeSpeak with Non-Bluetooth Phones Use FreeSpeak with non-Bluetooth mobile phones. Your FreeSpeak package includes an additional adapter to fit your phone—allowing it to become Bluetooth-aware. Once you connect the special adapter to your phone, and then connect the phone to the headset’s adapter unit, you are ready to use the headset as described earlier. To use the headset with non-Bluetooth phones Connect the cable from the FreeSpeak adapter unit to the special adapter for your phone. 12 Connect the special adapter to your phone. Use the headset as usual. Connects to special adapter for your phone Keeping FreeSpeak Operational FreeSpeak is very easy to use and even easier to maintain. There’s very little you need to do to keep the headset maintenance free. All components are built according to best practices, and no component is user-replaceable. To keep the headset working consistently, follow these general guidelines: 1 Keep the headset away from water. If you need to clean it, use a clean, damp cloth. 2 Turn the headset off when not in use to preserve the battery’s life. 3 Charge the battery after each long periods of use. 4 Handle the headset with care. Although it is designed for durability, exercise care in handling. 5 ANYTHING ELSE? 13 Storing FreeSpeak The adapter unit also functions as charger and holder. When you are not using the headset, place it in the adapter unit. For details on charging, see Charging the Battery. To store the headset Place the headset in the adapter unit. Slide it into place until it locks.
