Please read these operating instructions carefully and observe
the notes given. Use these operating instructions to familiarise
yourself with the Indoor Fountain Pump, its proper use and the
notes on safety.
For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 and people
not familiar with these operating instructions must not use this
Indoor Indoor Fountain Pump.

1. Where to Use Your GARDENA Indoor Fountain Pump
GARDENA Indoor Fountain Pumps have been designed for pri-
vate use around your house. They are not designed for operating
watering tools and systems. Pumps RP 240 / RP 300 / RP 600
must only be used indoors. Pump RP 420 is part of Fountain Set
Art. 7767 and is suitable for outdoor use.
GARDENA Indoor Fountain Pumps have not been designed
for constant use in the industrial sector. Corrosive, easily
combustible, aggressive or explosive substances (e.g.
petrol, petroleum, nitro thinner) as well as saltwater or food
/ drinking water must not be pumped.

VVAlways disconnect the fountain
pump from the mains before
undertaking any work.
The pump should be operated via a residual
current device with a residual current rating of
≤30 mA (DIN VDE 0100-702 and 0100-738).
The pump must be placed on solid, even
ground.
vPlease consult a qualified electrician for
advice.

Mains power cables must not have a smaller
cross-section than a PVC cable of the
designation H03 VV (RP 420 of the
designation H05 RNF). Extension cables must
meet the requirements of DIN VDE 0620.
Data indicated on the type plate must match
technical data of the mains supply.
Please unplug the fountain pump after
operation and before carrying out any
maintenance works.
The fountain pump must not be operated
when there are people in the water.
Swimming pools and garden ponds should
be designed according to international and
national design regulations.
vPlease consult a qualified electrician for
advice.
Before operating the fountain pump, look to
see if there is any damage to the fountain
pump (esp. regarding power cable and plug).
The connection cable of the pump cannot be
replaced. If the cable is damaged the pump
must be disposed of.
Do not use the power cable to carry the pump
or to pull the plug out of the socket.
Protect the power cable from heat, oil and
sharp edges.
For Austria:
Pumps for use in swimming pools and
ponds may only be operated via an isolating
transformer.
vPlease consult a professional electrician.
For Switzerland:
In Switzerland mobile appliances which are
used outdoors must be connected via a
residual-current device.
User instructions:
Never let the pump run dry; running
dry generates heat and will damage
the pump.

The temperature of the liquid used must not
be below 4 °C or above 35 °C.
Sand and other abrasive substances in the
liquid cause increased wear and reduce the
output of the pump.
Please observe the local noise prevention
regulations.
3. Initial Operation
1. RP 600: Insert the fountain socket 1and nozzle tube 2.
2. Install the pump at ground level so that the filter housing
is standing in water to at least half its height (with pumps
RP 240 / RP 300 / RP 420 make sure that the sides of the
foam filter under the pump are not blocked).
3. Plug mains plug into an AC power socket.
Warning: Pump will start immediately.
4. Use the flow control 3to set the desired water flow for the
fountain pump.

If the pump is installed out of water, the filter housing 4must
be taken off.
1. Pull off the filter housing 4.
2. Turn the pump inlet 5anticlockwise and pull it vertically off
the motor housing 6(bayonet socket).
3. Depending on the pumping application, the pump inlet can be
rotated in 90° steps. Twist the pump inlet 5accordingly, again
press it vertically on to motor housing 6and tighten it clock-
wise (see 5. Cleaning).
4. Screw stepped nipples 7on to the pump inlet 5and pump
outlet 8.
5. Connect the pump inlet 5to the water reservoir with a hose
(1/2

or 3/4
"
).The level in the water reservoir must be
higher than the pump inlet 5.
6. Connect the pump outlet 8to the spring / gargoyle with a hose
(1/2
"
or 3/4
"
).
7. Fill the hose to the pump inlet 5with water.
8. Insert the pump plug into a mains socket.
Caution: The pump will start immediately.
9. Use the flow control 3to set the desired water flow for the
spring.

The fountain pump must be stored out of the reach of children.
1. Before the frosty season begins, ensure the fountain pump has
been cleaned and is stored indoors.
2. To avoid difficulties when starting up in the spring, we recom-
mend storing the pump in a frost-free location in a container
filled with water.
The mains plug must not be submerged.
The product must not be added to normal household waste. It
must be disposed of in accordance with local environmental
regualations.

5. Cleaning

VBefore cleaning the pump, unplug it from the mains.
Do not use any hard tools or aggressive cleaners on the
pump.
1. Remove foam filter 9by pulling down and clean it.
2. Push off the pump housing 0on the pressure spigot of the
motor housing 6.
3. Take the impeller Aout of the motor housing 6and clean it.
4. Push the cleaned impeller Aback into the motor housing 6.
5. Push the pump housing 0back onto the motor housing 6.

Cleaning the

3. Remove the filter housing 4from the motor housing 6, and
clean it.
4. Turn the pump inlet 5anticlockwise and pull it vertically off
the motor housing 6(bayonet socket).
5. Take the impeller Aout of the motor housing 6and clean it.
6. Push the cleaned impeller Aback into the motor housing 6.
7. Push the pump inlet 5vertically onto the motor housing 6
and tighten it clockwise. (If the pump is to suck from
underneath, the thread must face downwards).
8. Push the filter housing 4back on to the motor housing 6.
9. Screw the desired fountain insert Binto the fountain
socket 1.
10. Plug the fountain socket 1and nozzle tube 2back into
place.

Warranty
9. Service / Warranty
GARDENA guarantees this product for 3 years from date of
purchase. This guarantee covers all serious defects of the unit that
can be proved to be material or manufacturing faults. Under war-
ranty we will either replace the unit or repair it free of charge
if the following conditions apply:
•The unit must have been handled properly and in keeping
with the requirements of the operating instructions.
•Neither the purchaser or a non-authorised third party have
attempted to repair the unit.
The feed impeller is a wearing part and is not covered by the
warranty.
This manufacturer’s guarantee does not affect the user’s existing
warranty claims against the dealer/seller.
If you have any problems with your Fountain Pump Set, please
contact our Service or return the defective unit together with a
short description of the problem – in case of guarantee, with a
copy of the receipt – postage paid to one of the GARDENA
Service Centres listed on the back of this leaflet.
