Welcome to the Garden of GARDENA...

Please read these operating instructions carefully and observe

the notes given. Use these operating instructions to familiarise

yourself with the Turbotrimmer, its proper use and the notes on

safety.

For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 or people who

are not familiar with these operating instructions should not use

this Turbotrimmer.

1. Where to Use Your GARDENA Turbotrimmer

The GARDENA Turbotrimmer is designed for trimming and cut-

ting areas of grass and lawns in private house and hobby gardens.

The Turbotrimmer must not be used in public facilities, parks,

sports grounds, next to roads or in agriculture or forestry.

For safety reasons, the GARDENA Turbotrimmer must not

be used for hedge trimming or for shredding for compost-

ing.

Connecting the Turbotrimmer:

Setting the Turbotrimmer

to the working position:

1. Push the extension cable 1into

the cable lock 2on the handle 3.

2. Plug the plug 4of the Turbo-

trimmer into the socket 5of the

extension cable.

Working position:

Position the additional handle 6so that the cutting head 7is

tilted slightly forward when you hold the Turbotrimmer in the

working position.

1. Unscrew the tightening nut 8,

move the additional handle 6

to the correct position and tighten

the nut 8by hand.

2. Unscrew the adjusting nut 9,

set the additional handle 6to

the correct angle and tighten

the adjusting nut 9by hand.

3. Unscrew the tightening nut 0,

adjust the handle Ato the

correct length and tighten the

nut 0by hand.

4. Press and hold down the adjusting

button B, set the cutting head 7

to the correct angle, then release the adjusting button B.

1. Press the start button Con the handle 3.

The Turbotrimmer starts.

2. Release the start button Con the handle 3.

The Turbotrimmer switches off.

1. For vertical cutting, loosen the tighten-

ing nut 8, turn the additional handle 6

180° and then tighten the nut 8again

by hand.

2. Swivel the plant guard Dbackwards to

the park position until it clicks into place.

3. Lift the Turbotrimmer by the handle 3

and additional handle 6and turn to the

cutting position.

4. When trimming between paving stones,

hold the Turbotrimmer so that the cutting

filament moves slightly above the paved

ground.

The filament is lengthened automatically when the motor is

running using a tip mechanism. A clean cut is only achieved

with the maximum filament length.

Check your Turbotrimmer before each use

vAlways visually inspect your Turbotrimmer

before each use.

vCheck that the ventilation slots are not

obstructed in any way.

Do not use your Turbotrimmer if the safety

devices (push button, safety cover) and/or

the filament cassette are damaged or

worn.

vNever bypass the safety devices.

vInspect the area to be cut before you begin

work. Remove any foreign objects (such

as stones). Look out for foreign objects

(such as stones) while you are working.

vIf you should come across an obstacle

while cutting, turn off the Turbotrimmer.

Remove the object and check the Turbo-

trimmer for any damage. If necessary

have your Turbotrimmer repaired.

Use / responsibility

The Turbotrimmer can cause serious injuries.

vUse the Turbotrimmer only for the purpose

specified in these operating instructions.

You are responsible for the safety in the area

where you are working.

vEnsure that there are no other people

(especially children) or animals within or

near the area where you are working.

vNever use the Turbotrimmer if the safety

devices are damaged or defective.

Unplug the mains plug after use and check

your Turbotrimmer, especially the filament

cassette, regularly for damage. Have your

Turbotrimmer repaired and/or replace the

filament cassette if necessary.

vAlways wear an eye shield or safety

goggles!

vWear sturdy shoes and long trousers to

protect your legs. Keep your fingers and

feet away from the cutting filament –

above all when starting work.

vAlways ensure that you have a secure

foothold whilst working.

vKeep the extension cable away from the

area you are cutting.

Take extra care when walking backwards.

You may stumble!

vOnly work in the daylight or when visibility

is good.

Interrupting work

Never leave the Turbotrimmer unattended

where you are working.

vIf you stop work, unplug the mains plug

and store your Turbotrimmer in a safe

place.

vIf you stop work in order to move to

another part of the garden, always switch

off the Turbotrimmer, wait until the tool

stops and then unplug the mains plug.

Familiarise yourself with the surroundings

vFamiliarise yourself with the surroundings

and look out for possible dangers which

you may not hear due to machine noise.

vNever use the Turbotrimmer when it is

raining or in damp, wet areas.

vDo not operate your Turbotrimmer directly

next to swimming pools or garden ponds.

Electrical safety

Check the power cord regularly for damage

and signs of wear and tear.

Do not use your Turbotrimmer if the power

cord is damaged.

vIf the mains cord or extension cable is

damaged while you are working, unplug

the mains plug immediately.

Do not touch the cable until the mains plug

is switched off.

The socket of the extension cable you are

using must be waterproof.

vOnly use permitted extension cables.

vAsk your electrician.

For all portable units that are operated out-

doors we recommend using a fault circuit

breaker.

In Switzerland the use of a residual-current

device is obligatory.

you release the start button.

VNever bypass the safety devices (by binding the start

button to the handle, for example).

Risk of injury from the cutting filament!

VAlways unplug the mains plug of the Turbotrimmer be-

fore troubleshooting.

If a filament is drawn into the filament cassette you can pull it out

again as described below.

1. Unplug the mains plug.

2. Remove the filament cassette as described under 4. Mainte-

nance

“Replacing the filament cassette” .

3. Press together the plastic ring Lon the filament cassette E

between your thumb and forefinger.

4. Draw the plastic ring Lwith the thumb of the other hand over

the side part of the filament cassette E(use a screwdriver

if necessary).

You can now access the filament that was drawn into the fila-

ment cassette.

5. Unwind the filament Kapproximately 10 cm and thread

it through the eye of the plastic ring L. If ne-

cessary, loosen the filament beforehand

using a screwdriver. The filament K

may stand out max. 2 cm over the

knife F.

6. Pull the plastic ring Lback over the

filament cassette E.

7. Reinstall the filament cassette as described

under 4. Mainte-nance

“Replacing the

filament cassette”.

Only GARDENA Service Centres and authorised specialist

GARDENA dealers may carry out repairs.

6. Storage

The Turbotrimmer must be stored out of the reach of children.

vStore your Turbotrimmer in a dry place where it is protected

from frost.

Risk of injury!

Cleaning the cover

and ventilation slots:

1. Leave the motor running.

2. Hold the cutting head 7parallel to the

ground and tap the filament cassette E

of the Turbotrimmer on the ground

several times in succession (approx.

3 times) (avoid applying sustained

pressure to the Turbotrimmer).

The filament is lengthened automatically.

Listen for the audible switching action.

The filament limiter Fadjusts the filament to the correct length.

4. Maintenance

There is a risk of injury from the cutting filament!

VAlways unplug the mains plug of the Turbotrimmer be-

fore carrying out maintenance work!

Risk of injury and risk of damage to property!

VNever clean the Turbotrimmer under running water or

with a water jet (in particular a high pressure water jet).

The ventilation slots must always

be free of dirt.

vRemove any grass and dirt from

the cover Gand ventilation slots H

after each use.

Risk of injury!

AVNever use metallic cutting elements or replacement

parts and accessories not provided by GARDENA.

Only use original GARDENA Filament Cassettes.You can

order Replacement Filament Cassettes from your GARDENA

dealer or directly from the GARDENA Customer Service.

•Filament Cassette for Turbotrimmer powerCut: Art. No. 5367-20

1. Unplug the mains plug.

2. Turn over the Turbotrimmer and rest it on the rubber buffer

of the handle.

3. Release the cassette cover Iby pressing both locking clips J

and remove the cover.

4. Remove the filament cassette E.

5. Remove any dirt.

6. Pull approximately 5 cm of the filament Kout of the new

filament cassette Ethrough the hole in the plastic ring L.

7. Insert the filament cassette Ein the filament cassette holder M

so that the filament Kis inside the metal case N.

8. Fit the cassette cover Ion the filament cassette holder Mso

that you hear both locking clips Jclick into place.

When replacing the cover, ensure that the filament is inside the

metal case and is not trapped.

vIf the cassette cover Icannot be touched down, turn the

filament cassette Eto and fro, until the filament cassette E

is completely in the filament cassette holder M.

Recommended storage:

We recommend that you hang your Turbotrimmer from the cable

lock. Hanging storage helps avoid unnecessary stress on the

cutting head.

GARDENA guarantees this product for 2 years (from date of

purchase). This guarantee covers all serious defects of the unit

that can be proved to be material or manufacturing faults. Under

warranty we will either replace the unit or repair it free of charge

if the following conditions apply:

•The unit must have been handled properly and in keeping with

the requirements of the operating instructions.

•Neither the purchaser or a non-authorised third party have

attempted to repair the unit.

The filament cassette and cassette cover are wearing parts and

are therefore not covered by the warranty.

This manufacturer’s guarantee does not affect the user’s existing

warranty claims against the dealer/seller.

If a fault occurs with your Turbotrimmer, please return the faulty

unit together with a copy of the receipt and a description of

the fault, with postage paid to one of the GARDENA Service

Centres listed on the back of these operating instructions.
