Quick Start ManualIntroduction WARNINGSee the Important Safety and ProductInformation guide in the product box forproduct warnings and other importantinformation.Always consult your physician before youbegin or modify any exercise program.KeysÀSelect to enter sleep mode andwake the device.Hold to turn the device on and offand lock the touchscreen.ÁSelect to mark a new lap.ÂSelect to start and stop the activitytimer.Pairing Your SmartphoneTo use the connected features of the®  device, it must be paireddirectly through the Garmin Connect™Mobile app, instead of from the  ®settings on your smartphone.1From the app store on yoursmartphone, install and open theGarmin Connect Mobile app.2Hold   to turn on the device.The first time you turn on the device,you will select the device language.The next screen prompts you to pairwith your smartphone.3Follow the instructions in the app tocomplete the pairing and setupprocess.Quick Start Manual 3
After you pair successfully, a messageappears, and your device syncsautomatically with your smartphone.Installing the Standard MountFor the best GPS reception, position themount so the front of the device isoriented toward the sky. You can installthe mount on the stem or thebars.1Select a secure location to mount thedevice where it does not interfere withsafe operation.2Place the rubber disk À on the back ofthe mount.Two rubber disks are included, andyou can select the disk that best fits.The rubber tabs align withthe back of the mount so it staysin place.3Place the mount on the tem.4Attach the mount securely usingthe two bands Á.5Align the tabs on the back of thedevice with the mount notches Â.6Press down slightly and turn thedevice clockwise until it locks intoplace.Installing the Out-Front Mount1Select a secure location to mount thedevice where it does notinterfere with safe operation..2Use the hex key to remove the screwÀ from the connector Á.4 Quick Start Manual
3Place the rubber pad around thebar:• If the bar diameter is25.4 mm, use the thicker pad.• If the bar diameter is31.8 mm, use the thinner pad.4Place the bar connector aroundthe rubber pad.5Replace and tighten the screw.NOTE: Garmin® recommends a torquespecification of 7 lbf-in. (0.8 N-m). You can select any icon tochange the settings.2Swipe left or right to view morewidgets.Connected FeaturesThe device has connectedfeatures for your compatible smartphoneor fitness device. Incident detection: Allows the GarminConnect Mobile app to send amessage to your emergency contactswhen the device detects anincident.Incident Detection CAUTIONIncident detection is a supplementalfeature primarily designed for road use.Incident detection should not be relied onas a primary method to obtain emergencyassistance. The Garmin Connect Mobileapp does not contact emergency serviceson your behalf.When an incident is detected by yourdevice with GPS enabled, theGarmin Connect Mobile app can send anautomated text message and email withyour name and GPS location to youremergency contacts.For more information, see your owner'smanual.ANT+ SensorsYour device can be used with wirelessANT+ sensors. For more informationabout compatibility and purchasingoptional sensors, go to http://buy.garmin.com.Putting On the Heart Rate MonitorNOTE: If you do not have a heart ratemonitor, you can skip this task.You should wear the heart rate monitordirectly on your skin, just below yoursternum. It should be snug enough to stayin place during your activity.1Snap the heart rate monitor module Àonto the strap.The Garmin logos on the module andthe strap should be right-side up.2Wet the electrodes Á and the contactpatches  on the back of the strap tocreate a strong connection betweenyour chest and the transmitter.8 Quick Start Manual
