22 Media drives/connectionsMedia drives/connectionsIntroductionThe MMI system includes various media drivesand connections. For example, you can playaudio/video* files from the jukebox or connecta portable player to the Audi music interfaceand operate it via the MMI.NotesGeneral notesMedia and format limitations: The MMI sys-tem (including the SD card reader and theconnection for the USB mass storage device*)has been tested for use with many of theproducts and media currently available on themarket. However, there may be some devices/media and audio/video* files that are not sup-ported or cannot be played, or the functionali-ty may be limited under certain circumstan-ces.Copyright: Please note that audio/video* filesare copyright-protected.The MMI media drives do not support DRM-protected files; these files are marked withthe symbol .Data storage: Never store important data onSD cards, the jukebox, CDs/DVDs or portableplayers. Audi shall not accept any liabilitywhatsoever for the loss of files or data andmedia.Loading times: The more files, folders or play-lists are stored on a storage device, the longerit will take to load the audio files/video* files. We recommend using a storage device whichcontains only audio/video* files. If you wantto reduce the time it takes to load the audio/video* files, you can create subfolders (e.g. foran artist or album). The loading time will beextended additionally if you are importing da-ta.Additional information: Additional informa-tion stored on audio files (e.g. artists, tracks, album covers) will be displayed automaticallywhen the files are played. If this informationis not stored on the relevant medium, theMMI system will use Gracenote®. Neverthe-less, additional information may not be dis-played in some cases.Restricted functionality: If you experience re-stricted functionality, reset the Media set-tings to the factory defaults ð page 31.For information on the characteristics of thesupported media and file formats, please re-fer to ð page 27.CD/DVD modeCD/DVD and format limitations: In view ofthe variety of CDs/DVDs and the difference inmemory capacities, the functionality may berestricted in the case of some storage devices.Under certain circumstances, audio CDs/videoDVDs that are copy-protected or CDs/DVDsthat do not comply with the standard audioformat, and multisession CDs cannot beplayed at all, or the functionality may be limi-ted. We recommend always finalising theburning process when creating multisessionCDs. Multisession is not supported for DVDs.Handling CDs/DVDs and the DVD drive: Toensure perfect, high-quality playback andavoid read error messages or damage to themedia drive, always store unused CDs/DVDs ina suitable case and do not expose them to di-rect sunlight. Do not use:–Damaged, dirty or scratched CDs/DVDs–Single CDs/DVDs (diameter 8 cm / 3 inches)–Non-circular CDs/DVDs (shape CDs)–CDs/DVDs with stickers–Protective rings–Cleaning disksThermal cut-out: In the case of extremely hotor cold outside temperatures, it is possiblethat the playback of a CD/DVD will temporari-ly not function. A thermostat switch is instal-led to protect the CD/DVD and the reading la-ser. 2 Titel oder Name, Abteilung, Datum
