Monitor Installation 50" Speaker (Optional) Installion • Match red to red, black to black of Speaker / TV. • Always lift the monitor itself (not the speakers) when handling or moving the monitor after speakers have been installed. Assemble the monitor to speaker with using the supporter hanger and bolt. As shown above A, assemble the a and b of supporter hanger to the monitor with using the bolt(M4x8). Assemble the c, d and e to the speaker with using the bolt(4x16). If the bolts are tightened too much, the product could be damaged. OWNER'S MANUAL 23 Monitor Installation Connecting Speakers to the Monitor using the speakers wires provided • Be sure monitor power is turned off before making any connections. Place the speakers in the position you want. Install the speaker wires on the monitor and speaker. Be sure to connect the positive "+" wire to the "+" input and the negative "-" wire to the "-" input. Connect left monitor input to left speaker and right monitor input to right speaker. Any extra speaker wire length remaining can be bunched into the wire holders provided. (Caution: Once installed, the speaker wire holders lock into position and can't be removed.) Press TV/VIDEO button on the Remote Control and select TV on OSD. Use CH+, CH- button or numeric button to change TV channel for your channel selection. You can watch the previous channel by pressing PRE CH. Button on Remote Control. Also, you can tune to cable service provided channels using the cable box. For further information regarding cable TV service, contact cable TV service provider(s). OWNER'S MANUAL Watching VCR When connecting the Plasma Monitor with external equipment, match the colors of connecting ports (Video yellow, Audio(L) - white, Audio(R) - red). If you have a mono VCR, connect the audio cable from the VCR to the AUDIO(L/MONO) input of the Plasma Monitor. If you connect an S-VIDEO VCR to the S-VIDEO input, the picture quality is improved; compared to connecting a regular VCR to the Video input. Avoid having a fixed image remain on the screen for a long period of time. Typically a frozen still picture from a VCR 4:3 picture format or if a CH label is present. < To avoid picture noise (interference), leave an adequate distance (over 3m) between the VCR and monitor. > To watch VCR (When the Interface board is installed.) Press TV/ Video button on the Remote Control and select Video Sources. (When connection with S-Video, select the S-Video.) Insert a video tape into the VCR and press the PLAY button on the VCR. • No Signal "No Signal" on display will disappear after 5 minutes, then the TV will go in to Sleep Mode (dark). OWNER'S MANUAL 27 Watching DVD (Interlace) How to connect (When the Interface board is installed.) Connect DVD video inputs to Y, PB, PR of COMPONENT (480i) (DVD INPUT) and audio inputs to Audio sockets of AV INPUT. How to use (When the Interface board is installed.) Turn on the DVD player. Press TV / Video button on the remote control of the monitor to select Component. Turn on the DVD player or Settop Box. Press TV / Video button on the remote control of the monitor to select Component. (Select "DTV YPbPr") • Normal DVD source is based on 480i, which should be through normal YPbPr of Component signal. • Connect normal 480i, DVD source, through normal YPbPr of Componect signal only. • No Signal "No Signal" on display will disappear after 5 minutes, then the TV will go in to Sleep Mode (dark). OWNER'S MANUAL 29 Connecting The PC You can enjoy vivid picture and sound with connecting a PC with the Monitor. Connecting a PC to the PDP Connect a PC (15pin) cable between the Video Output jack on the PC and the RGB (480p, 720p, 1018i) in (15p D-SUB) on the PDP. (They has almost same frequencies.) So the signal is expanded, please try other signals like 640x480@75Hz. • The PDP operates abnormally if a non-standard video format is selected. • Depending on the manufacturer, your PC screen might appear differently (and depending on your particular version of Windows). Check your PC instruction book for information about connecting your PC to a PDP. • The PDP may operate abnormally if a non-standard video signal. • "Out of range" message box will appear when an over-spec video signal is input. Change the video settings of PC when the message is displayed. OWNER'S MANUAL 31 OSD Structure • OSD (On Screen Display) allows user to control or adjust various features and settings in accordance with his/her preferences. • Press the MENU/SET button on the Remote Control, you may see the OSD. e.g.) OSD menu on the video background 32 OWNER'S MANUAL PICTURE (TV & VIDEO) Adjust Brightness, Contrast, Color, Hue, Sharpness, Temperature and Recall on OSD menu. Press MENU/SET button to activate OSD. Press MENU/SET button again to get into PICTURE main menu. BRIGHTNESS Control the brightness of display by using left and right button. Dark Bright Distinct Vague Decrease Increase CONTRAST Control the contrast of display. COLOR Control the color saturation of display. Saturation means the color tone in accordance with the difference of color concentration under red color criteria. HUE Control the color appearance from neutral to red or green or Blue. Red Greenish Hue means that it is a difference of color toward Green or Red color direction. OWNER'S MANUAL 33 PICTURE (TV & VIDEO) SHARPNESS Control the sharpness of image edge. Less sharp Sharp Warm Cold TEMPERATURE Select the color temperature of screen image from Warm, Cool and Normal. RECALL Go into PICTURE Menu, and select Recall then press set for all resets. • Screen Image retention : Do not display a still image (such as on a videogame or when hooking up a PC to this Monitor) on the plasma monitor panel for more than 2 hours as it can cause screen image retention. This image retention is also known as "screen burn". To avoid such image retention, refer to page 37 and 40 of this manual to reduce the degree of brightness and contrast of this screen when displaying a still image. 34 OWNER'S MANUAL PICTURE (PC) Adjust Brightness, Contrast, Temperature and Geometry on OSD menu. Press MENU/SET button to activate OSD. Press MENU/SET button again to get into PICTURE main menu. BRIGHTNESS Control the brightness of display. Dark Bright Distinct Vague Warm Cold CONTRAST Control the contrast of display. TEMPERATURE Select the color temperature of screen image from Warm, Cool and Normal. Temperature control by User Value for Red, Green and Blue can be adjusted when you choose User mode using ¥key. OWNER'S MANUAL 35 PICTURE (PC) GEOMETRY Press MENU/SET button, you can see below picture. Move where you want to adjust. < on Analog RGB mode > H-POSITION Centering display image. After selecting Position menu, you can move the image using VOL -/+ buttons. V-POSITION Centering display image. After selecting Position menu, you can move the image using VOL -/+ buttons. PHASE Fine tuning of display accuracy on the screen. Only available when you are in PC/HD input mode. Mismatch Match Mismatch Match H-SIZE Adjust the horizontal size of display. Only available when you are in PC/HD input mode. Auto Adjust Automatically adjust picture position and eliminate any image shaking. AUTO ADJUST is only available on Analog RGB mode. 36 OWNER'S MANUAL SOUND (TV & VIDEO + PC) Adjust the Volume, Balance, Sound Mode and AVC on OSD menu. Press MENU/SET button to activate OSD. Use DOWN button to go to SOUND main menu. Press MENU/SET button again to get into SOUND main menu. VOLUME Control the amount of volume of sound. Ranges from 0 to 100 BALANCE Control the left and right sound balance. SOUND MODE The sound mode feature allows you to choose the best appropriate audio environment. SOUND MODE - EQUALIZER You can adjust the quality of the sound to suit your taste on User mode. AVC (Auto Volume Control) AVC feature controls the volume level between two different channels automatically. OWNER'S MANUAL 37 MISC (TV & VIDEO + PC) Image scaling, OSD display. VIDEO SIZE(Aspect Ratio) You can change the scaling size of video on MISC main menu and VIDEO SIZE sub menu or by pressing V.SIZE button on Remote Control. 16 : 9 Fill the screen regardless of incoming aspect ratio. 4:3 Fit the screen with the same aspect ratio as signal source. Letter Box Expand letter box contents to full screen. But you will notify the display quality worse than original mode due to the loss resolution caused by image expansion. (use only with letter box contents) Zoom Zooming more like a classical TV size, which is over-scanned. OSD SHEET Select the background pattern of OSD. "Opaque" and "Translucent" can be selected. "Opaque" set the OSD background as solid color. "Translucent" set the OSD background as half transparent. Changes the Transparency of background color of OSD window. Opaque Translucent OSD POSITION Select OSD position among nine preset positions. Translucent 38 OWNER'S MANUAL MISC (TV & VIDEO + PC) Image scaling, OSD display. SET ID If you intend to control more than 2 PDPs via PC, you can assign ID number to each PDP from 1 to 99 by connecting with RS232C cable. ADVANCED You can control the burn protect function. BURN PROTECT Burn protection is to avoid displaying the same image long time. To avoid displaying a static image long time, image moves horizontally 2~3 pixel per 2 minutes. The moving is repeated until PDP set be power-off. (Default Value is "On".) NATIVE MODE When you use PDP as PC Monitor, Native Mode display all timing to 852 x 480 mode. When you off NATIVE MODE, PDP display 640x480 mode except 848 x 480 mode. • When Native Mode is On, 640x480 resolution change to 852x480 resolution. OWNER'S MANUAL 39 TIME SLEEP : 30 min ➔ 60 min ➔ 90 min ➔ 180 min Select your desirable setting time to turn off the TV automatically. 30 min, 60 min, 90 min, 180 min and "Off" can be selected. The timer will start to count down just after you select. TIME SET You can select the one among Off, Everyday and Once by using Up and Down button. 40 OWNER'S MANUAL TV SET-UP MODE Select "Air" or "Cable". If your TV set is connected antenna, select "AIR", If you TV set is connected to the CABLE TV, select "CABLE" AUTO CHANNEL If you select "AUTO CHANNEL" , TV set will automatically scan available channel and add to permanent channel list. If you want to "exit" auto channel scan, press exit key on IR Remote Control. FINE TUNE You can manually adjust the tuning precision by using this function. MTS Select the audio mode on TV broadcasting. "AUTO", "STEREO", "MONO", "L1" and "L2" can be selected. If you select "AUTO", the "TV" set will select stereo mode if the channel broadcast in stereo mode, mono mode otherwise. If you want to set sound mode as "MONO", the set will sounds as mono mode even if the channel broadcasts with stereo mode. If the channel is broadcasting in Bi-lingual mode and if you want to listen to secondary language, you should select "L2". The TV set will sounds with default language otherwise. OWNER'S MANUAL 41 PIP (PC) PIP works in Analog RGB, Digital RGB, and RTV YPbPr mode. PIP(Picture in Picture) ON/OFF Select ON/OFF the PIP mode. You can choose ON/OFF mode using VOL-/+ keys. PIP SOURCE Select the PIP video source. After selecting video source menu, you can change the source using VOL-/+ keys. (TV ➔ AV1 ➔ AV2 ➔ SVIDEO ➔ COMPONENT) AV1 TV AUDIO SOURCE Select the audio source. When you select 'PIP' mode, you will hear PIP audio source. When you select 'Main' mode, you will hear Analog RGB audio source. You can change the source using VOL-/+ keys. PIP POSITION Select PIP position among nine preset positions. PIP PIP PIP PIP PIP PIP PIP PIP PIP • If you want to watch another source picture with PIP function during watching DVD, PC signal cannot be supported. 42 OWNER'S MANUAL Hot Key Function By Remote Control MUTE To turn off the sound. TV / VIDEO Select the signal source from multiple input source of TV, AV1, AV2, S-Video, Component, Analog RGB and DTV YPbPr.(480p, 720p, 1080i input) PIP Activate PIP function on Analog RGB Mode. PRE CH Go back to previous TV channel. STILL Freeze Frame function, press once again for reset. PICTURE The Picture mode feature allows you to choose three different modes of picture settings. CH INFO You can information regarding the channel that you select. MTS Change sound setting, ie; L1, L2, Mono, etc. OWNER'S MANUAL 43 Hot Key Function By Remote Control Meu/Set Activate the OSD window, enter the sub-menu. CH+/CHChange the TV channel o TV mode up or down. EXIT Exit from the currnet OSD menu or sub-menu. VOL+/VOLChange the audio level, increase or decrease and used for OSD navigation. SOUND The sound mode feature allows you to choose the best appropriate audio environment. ie. Stereo, Mono, Asp. Flat SLEEP TV off time setting, push button for 30 min, 60 min, 90 min and 180 min. AM11:40 BRIGHTNESS 50 TIME Set the Time function. BRIGHT Press "Bright" button repeatedly to directly choose one of five different setting modes; Brightness, Contrast, Color and Sharpness by pushes. Refer to next page CLOSED CAPTION Push Closed Caption button to activate closed caption menu. It may save you time and money. Problem No picture & No sound Quick Action for Possible Solution • Check whether the Monitor is turned on. • Power cord inserted into wall outlet? • Plug another product's power cord into the wall outlet where the Monitor's power cord was plugged in. Picture OK & No sound • Press the VOLUME() button. • Check the audio input signal. The remote control doesn't work • Check to see if there is any object between the Plasma Display and the remote control causing obstruction. • Check to see if the batteries are installed with the correct polarities. No or Poor color or Poor picture • Select Color in the Picture and press VOLUME () button. • Keep a certain distance between the Monitor and the VCR. • Activate any function to restore the brightness of the picture. • Check to see that both the monitor and the source are plugged in and turned on. The image is too light or too dark • Adjust the Brightness or Contrast settings. The image is too large or too small • Adjust the Size settings. No output from one of the speakers • Adjust Balance in the Sound Menu.
