5311 Managing Your Mobile PhoneTo configure your mobile phone, touch > Settings.11.1 Setting the Date and TimeBy default, your mobile phone automatically uses the date, time, and time zone provided by the network. When your mobile phone is using the date and time settings provided automatically by the network, you cannot manually set the date, time, and time zone.1. On the Settings screen, touch Date & time.2. Clear the Automatic check box.3. Touch Set date. On the set date screen, touch or to adjust the date, month, and year, and then touch Set when the configuration is complete.4. Touch Select time zone, and then select the desired time zone from the list. Scroll the list to view more time zones.5. Touch Set time. On the set time screen, touch or to adjust the hour and minute. Touch Set when the configuration is complete.6. Select or clear the Use 24-hour format check box to switch between 24-hour and 12-hour formats.7. Touch Select date format to select how you want the date to display on your mobile phone.11.2 Setting the Display11.2.1 Adjusting the Screen Brightness1. On the Settings screen, touch Display > Brightness.2. Drag the slider left to make the screen darker, or right to make it brighter.3. Touch OK to save the adjustment.
5411.2.2 Adjusting the Time Before the Screen Turns OffIf your mobile phone is idle for several minutes, it will turn off the screen to save battery power. To set a longer or shorter idle time:1. On the Settings screen, touch Display > Screen timeout.2. Select the duration you want the screen to be illuminated.11.3 Setting Ringers11.3.1 Turning On Silent Mode1. On the Settings screen, touch Sound.2. Select the Silent mode check box to silence all sounds except alarms, and music and video media.11.3.2 Adjusting the VolumeYou can adjust the volume from the Home screen or any application screen (except during a call or when playing music or videos). Press the Volume keys to adjust volume to the level you desire.You can also adjust the volume from the settings screen.1. On the Settings screen, touch Sound > Volume.2. Drag the slider left to make the volume lower, or right to make it higher.3. Touch OK to save the adjustment.11.3.3 Changing the Phone Ringtone1. 5511.4 Setting Phone Services11.4.1 Customizing Call SettingsMobile phone service providers offer different services such as call forwarding, call waiting, fixed dialing numbers, and voicemail. You can customize many of these services if they are part of your calling plan.On the Settings screen, touch Call settings to customize your call functions.11.4.2 Turning on Data Roaming1. On the Settings screen, touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.2. Select the Data roaming check box. Accessing data services while roaming may incur additional charges. Ask your wireless service provider about data roaming fees.11.4.3 Switching off the Data Service1. On the Settings screen, touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.2. Clear the Data enabled check box.11.5 Protecting Your Mobile Phone11.5.1 Protecting Your Mobile Phone with a Screen LockTo keep your data more secure, lock the screen and/or require a screen unlock pattern every time your mobile phone is turned on or wakes up from sleep mode.1. On the Settings screen, touch Location & security > Set up screen lock > Pattern.2. Flick your finger vertically, horizontally or diagonally, connect at least four dots in any order you choose. Lift your finger from the screen when you are finished.You must drag your finger between the dots on the screen to create the pattern, not simply touch individual dots.3. Your mobile phone will record the pattern. Touch Continue.4. When prompted, draw the screen unlock pattern again, and then touch Confirm.
56To change your unlock screen pattern, touch Location & security > Change screen lock.11.5.2 Protecting Your Mobile Phone with a Numeric PINYou can set up a numeric PIN to lock your phone.1. On the Settings screen, touch Location & security > Set up screen lock > PIN.2. Enter at least four characters.3. Touch Continue.4. Enter the same characters again and touch OK.To change your PIN, touch Location & security > Change screen lock.11.5.3 Unlocking Your Mobile Phone If You Forget the Screen Lock PatternIf you have already created a Google account, you can unlock your mobile phone using the following methods.• After you have entered the wrong sequence five times, a Forgot pattern? button will appear. Touch this button to enter the Google account interface. After you have entered your Google account password, you will be able to reset the unlock pattern.• After you have entered the wrong pattern twenty times, you will be taken directly to the Google account interface. After you have entered your Google account password, you will be able to reset the unlock pattern.11.6 Managing Applications11.6.1 Viewing an Installed Application1. On the Settings screen, touch Applications > Manage applications.2. In the applications list, do either of the following:• Touch , and then touch Sort by size. Then touch an application to view its details.• Touch an application directly to view its details.
5711.6.2 Uninstalling an Application You cannot uninstall the applications that are pre-installed on the system.1. On the Settings screen, touch Applications > Manage applications.2. Touch an application, and then touch Uninstall. You can also touch and hold an item on the Home screen until the Select action menu is displayed, and then touch Uninstall application to uninstall the application.11.6.3 Moving an Application to the microSD CardSome applications are designed to be stored on your phone’s USB storage or microSD card (depending on the model of your phone), rather than in its internal storage. Others are designed so you can change where they are stored. You may find it helpful to move large applications off your internal storage, to make more room for other applications that do not offer the option.1. On the Settings screen, touch Applications > Manage applications.2. Touch an application in the list. Then touch Move to USB storage to move the bulk of the application from the phone’s internal storage.The Storage section of the application’s details screen shows details about the memory used by the application. If the application can be moved, the Move to USB storage button is active.Touch Move to phone to move the application back to the phone’s internal storage.11.6.4 Ways to Free Up Your Mobile Phone Memory• Move files and email attachments to the microSD card.• In Browser, clear all temporary Internet files and Browser history information.• Move applications to the microSD card.• Uninstall any downloaded programs that you no longer use.• Reset your mobile phone.

It also contains information about how to use the device safely. Read this information carefully before using your device.Electronic DevicePower off your device if using the device is prohibited. Do not use the device when using the device causes danger or interference with electronic devices.Medical Device• Follow rules and regulations set forth by hospitals and health care facilities. Do not use your device when using the device is prohibited.• Pacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimum distance of 15 cm be maintained between a device and a pacemaker to prevent potential interference with the pacemaker. If you are using a pacemaker, use the device on the opposite side of the pacemaker and do not carry the device in your front pocket.Potentially Explosive AtmospherePower off your device in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, and comply with all signs and instructions. Areas that may have potentially explosive atmospheres include the areas where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Triggering of sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or a fire, resulting in bodily injuries or even deaths. Do not power on your device at refueling points such as service stations. Comply with restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, storage, and distribution areas, and chemical plants. In addition, adhere to restrictions in areas where blasting operations are in progress. Before using the device, watch out for areas that have potentially explosive atmospheres that are often, but not always, clearly marked. Such locations include areas below the deck on boats, chemical transfer or storage facilities, and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust, or metal powders. Ask the manufacturers of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane) whether this device can be safely used in their vicinity.
