4 2 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card and the Battery When installing the subscriber identity module (SIM) card, ensure that the golden contact area on the SIM card is facing downward and the beveled edge of the SIM card is properly aligned with that of the SIM card slot. Removing the Battery and the SIM Card Before removing the battery and the SIM card, ensure that your phone is powered off.
5 Installing and Removing a microSD Card Before installing or removing a microSD card, power off the phone. Once the phone is powered on, it will indicate whether the microSD card has been installed properly. Your phone supports a microSD card to expand the memory capacity of you phone. When installing a microSD card, ensure that the golden contact area on the microSD card is facing downward. Charging the Battery 1. Connect the larger end of the USB cable to the charger. 2. Connect the charger to a power socket. 3. Connect the smaller end of the USB cable to the phone's charger jack/USB port. 4. Wait until the battery is fully charged. While the battery is charging, the charging icon is animated. When the charging icon becomes static, the battery is fully charged.
6 5. Unplug the charger from the power socket and then the USB cable from the phone. Using Your Finger You can use your finger to perform various operations on the touch screen by tapping and dragging.  Tap: Use your finger to touch the screen once to access a menu or select an item.  Drag: Use your finger to touch & hold an icon on the main menu, and then move the icon. You can also use your finger to touch and move on the screen to scroll through a menu or a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) page. Calibrating the Screen The phone can respond to the touch of your finger on the screen accurately after screen calibration. 1. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select Settings > Pen calibration. 2. Tap in sequence that appears on the screen as prompted to complete screen calibration. During the calibration, tap every accurately to ensure that the phone can respond to your tapping and text entry on the screen correctly after the calibration.
7 Universal Serial Bus (USB) When the phone is connected to a personal computer (PC) through the USB cable, a series of options, such as Mass storage, are displayed on the phone screen. If Mass storage is selected, you can manage the files stored on the phone and memory card. Phone Lock The phone lock protects your phone from unauthorized use. The preset phone lock code is 1234. By default, the phone lock is disabled. Once the phone lock is enabled, you are required to enter the phone code each time you power on the phone. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and select Settings > Security settings > Phone security > Phone lock. Input the phone lock code and tap OK to enable the phone lock. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and select Settings > Security settings > Phone security > Change password to change the preset phone lock code to any numeric string of four to eight digits.
8 Do remember your phone lock code. If you forget it, please contact your service provider. PIN and PUK The personal identification number (PIN) protects your SIM card from unauthorized use. The PIN unblocking key (PUK) unlocks the blocked PIN. Both the PIN and the PUK are provided with the SIM card. For details, please contact your service provider. If you enter incorrect PINs three times consecutively, the phone prompts you to enter the PUK. If you enter incorrect PUKs ten times consecutively, the SIM card will become permanently invalid. In this case, contact your service provider for a new SIM card. Switching Between Profiles Automatically You can set your phone to activate different profiles at different times. The phone can automatically switch between profiles according to your settings. 1. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and select Profiles > Profile auto switch. 2. Select a clock. 3. Set the status, time, repetition days, and then assign a profile.
9 4. Tap Done > Yes to save the settings. Locking the Screen and Keypad In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and select Settings > Security settings> Auto keypad lock. On the Auto keypad lock screen, select a period (Off, 5 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, or 5 min). To unlock the screen and keypad, slide rightward on the screen. 3 Voice Services Making a Call 1. In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the on-screen keypad. 2. Enter the phone number, or tap to access the Contacts screen to select the desired contact number.  To make an international call, tap * key twice to enter the international long-distance code (+), and then enter the country code or region code, area code and phone number in sequence.
10  To call an extension number, enter the phone number, p (tap * three times), and extension number in sequence. 3. Tap or to dial the number. You can also make a call through Call log, Contacts, and Messaging. Answering a Call When there is an incoming call, you can do as follows:  Tap Answer or to answer the call.  Tap Reject or to end the call.  Tap Silent to mute the call. 4 Text Entry Changing the Text Input Mode The indicator of the current text input mode is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. You can tap on the QWERTY/Alphanumeric input screen to select the text input mode. Indicator Text Input Mode ABC and abc Multi-tap input mode

When QWERTY Input Screen is enabled, do the following:  Tap once to clear the last entered character (Touch and hold to clear all the entered characters).  Tap to move the cursor to the next line.  Tap to hide the keypad.  Tap to access the alphanumeric input screen.  Tap to access the symbol/number keypad.
12  Tap to access the Input method screen and you can select the desired input method.  Tap to switch between upper case and lower case. 2. When Alphanumeric Input Screen is enabled, do the following:  Tap once to clear the last entered character (Touch & hold to clear all the entered characters).  Tap to access the number keypad.  Tap to switch between upper case and lower case.  Tap to access the QWERTY input screen.
13  Tap to hide the keypad.  Tap to access the Input method screen and you can select the desired input method.  Tap to access the symbol keypad. Entering Letters  In QWERTY input screen, enter the letters by respectively tapping the key with the desired letter.  In Alphanumeric input screen, tap the key with the desired letter and then select the desired letters. Entering Numbers  In QWERTY input screen, tap to access the number/symbol keypad and then enter the desired numbers.  In Alphanumeric input screen, tap to access the number keypad and then enter the desired numbers. Entering Symbols  In QWERTY input screen, tap to access the symbol/number keypad and the general symbols are displayed on the keypad. Then tap to access the complete symbol keypad and the expanded symbols are displayed on the keypad.  In Alphanumeric input screen, tap to access the symbol keypad. There are four pages of symbols on the
14 symbol keypad and you can tap or to access the page with your desired symbol. 5 Messaging Writing and Sending a Text Message 1. In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Messaging screen and then select Write message. 2. Enter the phone number of one or more recipients in the recipient bar, or tap to access the Contacts screen and then select one or more recipients. 3. Edit the message contents. 4. Tap to send the message. Writing and Sending a Multimedia Message 1. In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Messaging screen and then tap Write message. 2. Tap Options and then select Switch to MMS.
15  If you tap Add picture, Add sound, or Add video, the message will automatically switch to a multimedia message.  If you tap Header info, and Cc, Bcc or Subject is selected, the message will also automatically switch to a multimedia message. 3. Enter the phone number of one or more recipients in the recipient bar, or tap to access the Contacts screen and then select one or more recipients. 4. If Cc or Bcc is selected, enter the phone number of one or more recipients respectively. 5. If Subject is selected, enter the subject of the message. 6. Edit the message contents. You can add picture, sound, or video, or insert text template, attachment, contact number, contact name or bookmark by tapping . 7. Tap to send the message. 6 Phonebook Creating a Contact In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Contacts screen.  To add a contact to your SIM card, do as follows:
16 1. On the Contacts screen, tap Add new contact. 2. Edit the Name and Number. 3. Select Options > Save > Yes .  To add a contact to your phone, do as follows: 1. On the Contacts screen, tap Add new contact. 2. Edit the Name, Number, Email address, Caller picture, and Caller ringtone. 3. Select Options > Save > Yes . Searching for a Contact 1. In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Contacts screen. 2. Enter the first letter of the contact name in the searching bar, and then the contacts whose names start with that letter will be found. 3. Tap to hide the keypad, and then find the desired contacts from the list. Setting the Preferred Storage 1. In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Contacts screen. 2. On the Contacts screen, select Options > Phonebook settings > Preferred storage. 3. On the Preferred storage screen, select the storage (SIM, Phone or Both).
17 7 Camera In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select Camera. On the Camera screen, you can do as follows:  Tap to access the Options screen to view the photos or to configure relevant settings.  Tap to take a picture.  Tap to adjust the brightness.  Tap to zoom in and zoom out.  Tap to set the image size.  Tap to set the image quality.  Tap to set the image effect.  Tap to adjust the white balance.  Tap to select the scene mode.  Tap to set the delay timer.  Tap to set continuous shot.  Tap to exit the camera.
18 8 Video Camera In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select Video camera. On the Video camera screen, you can do as follows:  Tap to access the Options screen to configure relevant settings.  Tap to start recording.  Tap to adjust the exposure compensation.  Tap to zoom in or zoom out.  Tap to set the video quality.  Tap to set the night mode.  Tap to adjust the white balance.  Tap to set the audio recording.  Tap to exit the video camera. 9 Sound Recorder In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select Applications > Sound recorder. On the Sound recorder screen, you can do as follows:
19  Tap to access the Options screen to configure relevant settings.  Tap to start the recording. In the recording, you can tap to pause the recording, and tap to stop the recording.  Tap to view the recording list.  Tap to exit the sound recorder.  Tap to play the audio when it is saved. 10 Media Player You can play audio or video files stored on the phone or memory card by media player. You can also add audio or video files stored on the phone or memory card to the user-defined playlist. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select Media player. Creating a New Playlist 1. On the Media player screen, tap My playlists. 2. Select Options > New and then name the playlist.
20 3. Select Options > Done to complete the creation of the new playlist. Adding Audio or Video Files to the Playlist 1. On the Media player screen, tap My playlists and then select the playlist to which you want to add audio or video files. 2. Select Options > Open and then tap Add > Phone/Memory card to select an audio or video file. 3. Tap OK to add the selected audio or video file to the playlist. Playing an Audio or Video File 1. On the Media player screen, tap My playlists and then select the desired playlist. 2. Select Options > Open and then select the audio or video file you want to play. 3. Select Options > Play to play the selected audio or video file. On the playing screen, you can do the as follows:  Tap to access the Options screen to perform the relevant settings.  Tap or to switch to the previous or next audio or video file.  Touch & hold or to rewind or fast-forward the audio or video file.
21  Tap to start playing an audio or video file.  Tap to pause the playing of the audio or video file.  Tap to stop the playing of the audio or video file.  Tap to access the full-screen mode.  Tap to exit the media player. 11 FM Radio In FM (frequency modulation) radio, the headset cable also functions as an antenna. To ensure good radio reception, please do not disconnect the headset from the phone or severely bend the headset cable. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select FM. On the FM radio screen, you can do as follows:  Tap to access the Options screen to perform relevant settings.  Tap to turn on or turn off the FM radio.  Tap or to switch to the previous or next channel in the channel list.  Tap or to adjust the frequency downwards or upwards by 0.1 MHz according to the tuning mode you have selected.
22  Tap to record the current radio program. 12 Network Services WAP You can access Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) sites and use WAP-based services on the phone. To browse WAP pages, you need to subscribe to the corresponding service from your service provider and configure the relevant settings on your phone. In standby mode, tap at the bottom of the screen to access the Internet service screen.  Tap Settings > Data account to select your service provider.  Tap Homepage to access the homepage.  Tap Bookmarks to select a WAP site from the list, and then tap Options > Go to.  Tap Input address to enter an address, and then tap Options > Go to.  Tap Recent pages to view WAP pages that you browse recently.
23 13 STK In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select STK. The SIM Tool Kit (STK) function is available only if your service operator provides it. It is a value-added service provided by your operator, which allows you to send text messages, view news, and use other applications. For further details, contact your network operator. 14 Bluetooth Your phone supports Bluetooth. Through Bluetooth devices, you can synchronize files between your phone and a computer, transfer data between your phone and other Bluetooth devices, and talk on the phone by using a Bluetooth headset. In standby mode, tap key to access the main menu and then select Bluetooth. Transferring Data 1. On the Bluetooth screen, set Power to On. 2. Select My device > Search new device to search for other Bluetooth devices in range and pair a device with your phone.
24 If the device selected is the first time for pairing, a password is required for authentication. When the device is paired with your phone, data can be transferred between your phone and the device. Connecting a Bluetooth Headset to Your Phone 1. On the Bluetooth screen, set Power to On. 2. Tap Search audio device. 3. Stoke to the desired Bluetooth headset, and then tap Pair. 4. Enter the password for pairing the Bluetooth headset with your phone. When the Bluetooth headset is connected to your phone, the headset icon is displayed on the standby screen, indicating that you can use the headset. No Bluetooth headset is included in the product package. If you want to use a Bluetooth headset, you need to purchase it individually. 15 Warnings and Precautions This section contains important information pertaining to the operating instructions of your device. It also contains
25 information about how to use the device safely. Read this information carefully before using your device. Electronic Device Power off your device if using the device is prohibited. Do not use the device when using the device causes danger or interference with electronic devices. Medical Device  Follow rules and regulations set forth by hospitals and health care facilities. Do not use your device when using the device is prohibited.  Pacemaker manufacturers recommend that a minimum distance of 15 cm be maintained between a device and a pacemaker to prevent potential interference with the pacemaker. If you are using a pacemaker, use the device on the opposite side of the pacemaker and do not carry the device in your front pocket. Potentially Explosive Atmosphere Power off your device in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere, and comply with all signs and instructions. Areas that may have potentially explosive atmospheres include the areas where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Triggering of sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or a fire, resulting in bodily injuries or even deaths. Do not power on your device at refueling points such as service stations. Comply with restrictions on the use of radio equipment in fuel depots, storage, and distribution areas, and chemical plants. In addition, adhere to restrictions in areas
26 where blasting operations are in progress. Before using the device, watch out for areas that have potentially explosive atmospheres that are often, but not always, clearly marked. Such locations include areas below the deck on boats, chemical transfer or storage facilities, and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust, or metal powders. Ask the manufacturers of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane or butane) whether this device can be safely used in their vicinity. Traffic Security Observe local laws and regulations while using the device. In addition, if using the device while driving a vehicle, comply with the following guidelines:  Concentrate on driving. Your first responsibility is to drive safely.  Do not talk on the device while driving. Use hands-free accessories.  When you have to make or answer a call, park the vehicle at the road side before using your device.  RF signals may affect electronic systems of motor vehicles. For more information, consult the vehicle manufacturer.  In a motor vehicle, do not place the device over the air bag or in the air bag deployment area. Otherwise, the device may hurt you owing to the strong force when the air bag inflates.  Do not use your device while flying in an aircraft. Power off your device before boarding an aircraft. Using wireless
27 devices in an aircraft may cause danger to the operation of the aircraft and disrupt the wireless telephone network. It may also be considered illegal. Operating Environment  Do not use or charge the device in dusty, damp, and dirty places or places with magnetic fields. Otherwise, it may result in a malfunction of the circuit.  The device complies with the RF specifications when the device is used near your ear or at a distance of 1.5 cm from your body. Ensure that the device accessories such as a device case and a device holster are not composed of metal components. Keep your device 1.5 cm away from your body to meet the requirement earlier mentioned.  On a stormy day with thunder, do not use your device when it is being charged, to prevent any danger caused by lightning.  When you are on a call, do not touch the antenna. Touching the antenna affects the call quality and results in increase in power consumption. As a result, the talk time and the standby time are reduced.  While using the device, observe the local laws and regulations, and respect others' privacy and legal rights.  Keep the ambient temperature between 0°C and 40°C while the device is being charged. Keep the ambient temperature between 0°C to 40°C for using the device powered by a battery.
28 Prevention of Hearing Damage Using a headset at high volume can damage your hearing. To reduce the risk of damage to hearing, lower the headset volume to a safe and comfortable level. Safety of Children Comply with all precautions with regard to children's safety. Letting the child play with your device or its accessories, which may include parts that can be detached from the device, may be dangerous, as it may present a choking hazard. Ensure that small children are kept away from the device and accessories. Accessories Use the accessories delivered only by the manufacturer. Using accessories of other manufacturers or vendors with this device model may invalidate any approval or warranty applicable to the device, result in the non-operation of the device, and cause danger. Battery and Charger  Unplug the charger from the electrical plug and the device when not in use.  The battery can be charged and discharged hundreds of times before it eventually wears out. When the standby time and the talk time are shorter than the normal time, replace the battery.  Use the AC power supply defined in the specifications of the charger. An improper power voltage may cause a fire or a malfunction of the charger.
29  Do not connect two poles of the battery with conductors, such as metal materials, keys, or jewelries. Otherwise, the battery may be short-circuited and may cause injuries and burns on your body.  Do not disassemble the battery or solder the battery poles. Otherwise, it may lead to electrolyte leakage, overheating, fire, or explosion.  If battery electrolyte leaks out, ensure that the electrolyte does not touch your skin and eyes. When the electrolyte touches your skin or splashes into your eyes, wash your eyes with clean water immediately and consult a doctor.  If there is a case of battery deformation, color change, or abnormal heating while you charge or store the battery, remove the battery immediately and stop using it. Otherwise, it may lead to battery leakage, overheating, explosion, or fire.  If the power cable is damaged (for example, the cord is exposed or broken), or the plug loosens, stop using the cable at once. Otherwise, it may lead to an electric shock, a short circuit of the charger, or a fire.  Do not dispose of batteries in fire as they may explode. Batteries may also explode if damaged.  Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Recycle or dispose of used batteries according to the local regulations or reference instruction supplied with your device.
30 Cleaning and Maintenance  The device, battery, and charger are not water-resistant. Keep them dry. Protect the device, battery, and charger from water or vapor. Do not touch the device or the charger with a wet hand. Otherwise, it may lead to a short circuit, a malfunction of the device, and an electric shock to the user.  Do not place your device, battery, and charger in places where they can get damaged because of collision. Otherwise, it may lead to battery leakage, device malfunction, overheating, fire, or explosion.  Do not place magnetic storage media such as magnetic cards and floppy disks near the device. Radiation from the device may erase the information stored on them.  Do not leave your device, battery, and charger in a place with an extreme high or low temperature. Otherwise, they may not function properly and may lead to a fire or an explosion. When the temperature is lower than 0°C, performance of the battery is affected.  Do not place sharp metal objects such as pins near the earpiece. The earpiece may attract these objects and hurt you when you are using the device.  Before you clean or maintain the device, power off the device and disconnect it from the charger.  Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as alcohol and benzene) to clean the device and the charger. Otherwise, parts of the device may be damaged or a fire can be caused. You can clean the
31 device and the charger with a piece of damp and soft antistatic cloth.  Do not dismantle the device or accessories. Otherwise, the warranty on the device and accessories is invalid and the manufacturer is not liable to pay for the damage. Emergency Call You can use your device for emergency calls in the service area. The connection, however, cannot be guaranteed in all conditions. You should not rely solely on the device for essential communications. Certification Information (SAR) This mobile phone meets the government’s requirements for exposure to radio waves. This phone is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government. The exposure standard for wireless mobile phones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6W/kg. *Tes ts for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can be well below the
32 maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the poser required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output. Head:PCE 1.11 W/kg, DSS 0.011 W/kg; Sum-SAR = 1.121 W/kg Body:PCE 1.3 W/kg, DSS 0.006 W/kg; Sum-SAR = 1.306 W/kg The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model phone is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid after searching on FCC ID: QISG7105.
