1.1 Overview
TheWMS‐30issingleband(2.4GHz)802.11b/g/nSDIOwirelessLANmodule
basedontheQualcommAtherosAR6013integratedwirelesschip.
Itisdesignedforusewithasingleexternalomnidirectionalantennauptoa
maximumgainof5dBi.TheconnectorisatypeMMCXwhichcansupport
directconnectiontoanantennaorindirectconnectionviaasuitablecable
assembly.
Thedeviceisdesignedforintegrationintoahostsystemwhichrunsan
appropriatedriverfortheinstalledoperatingsystem,orrunsbespoke
embeddedsoftware.Thedevicehasfullmodularcertificationsocanbe
incorporatedintoahostdevicewithoutfurthertestingprovidedthatthe
installationandregulatorycompliancerulesinthismanualarefollowed.
Ablockdiagramofthedeviceisshownbelow.Ascanbeseen,itisahighly
integrateddesignwhichresultsinacompactandlowpowersolutionforwifi
communication.

socket.Amountinghole,diameter3.5mmisprovidedintheupperleft
cornertoassistwithlockingtheunitinplace,ifdesired.Alwaysuseplastic
mountinghardware.AgreenLEDisfittedbelowthemountingholewhich
illuminateswhenpowerisapplied.

TheWMS‐30respondstochannelcalibrationandpowerlevelsettingsas
specifiedin.binfilesthatareavailablefromIconResearchLtd.TheOEM
installermustensurethatthecorrect.binfileisinstalledinthehostdevice
tomeettheregulatoryrequirementsofthegeographicalareainwhichthe
deviceistobeused.
ContactIconResearchforissueofthe.binfile(s)thatyourequire.
2.2InformationforOEMInstallers
ThefollowingpointsmustbefollowedwheninstallingtheWMS‐30ina
hostsystemordevice:
1. TheWMS‐30devicemustbeprofessionallyinstalled.
2. Alabelmustbefittedtotheoutsideofthefinalsystemorhostdevice
identifyingtheFCCIDoftheWMS‐30.SuitablewordingisContains
FCCID:RO7‐WMS30orContainstransmittermoduleFCCID:RO7‐
WMS30.
3. ThesamelabelmustcontaintheICIDoftheWMS‐30.Suitable
wordingisContainsIC:12031A‐WMS30orContainstransmitter
moduleIC:12031A‐WMS30.
4. TheWMS‐30modulemustbeinstalledandusedinstrictaccordance
withthemanufacturer’sinstructions.Attentionisespeciallydrawnto
thetypeofantennaeallowed.

ThisdevicecomplieswithPart15oftheFCCRules.Operationissubjectto
thefollowingtwoconditions:
(1)Thisdevicemaynotcauseharmfulinterference,and
(2)Thisdevicemustacceptanyinterferencereceived,includinginterference
thatmaycauseundesiredoperation.
ThisequipmentcomplieswithFCCradiationexposurelimitssetforthforan
uncontrolledenvironment.Endusersmustfollowthespecificoperating
instructionsforsatisfyingRFexposurecompliance.Thistransmittermustnot
beco‐locatedoroperatedinconjunctionwithanyotherantennaor
transmitter.
Theantennamustbeinstalledtoprovideaseparationdistanceofatleast20
cmfromallpersons.
Changesormodificationsnotexpresslyapprovedbythepartyresponsiblefor
compliancecouldvoidtheuser'sauthoritytooperatetheequipment.
3.2IC(IndustryCanada)ComplianceStatements

UnderIndustryCanadaregulations,thisradiotransmittermayonlyoperate
usinganantennaofatypeandmaximum(orlesser)gainapprovedforthe
transmitterbyIndustryCanada.
Toreducepotentialradiointerferencetootherusers,theantennatypeand
itsgainshouldbesochosenthattheequivalentisotropicallyradiatedpower
(e.i.r.p.)isnotmorethanthatnecessaryforsuccessfulcommunication.
