10© 2010 Silver Spring Networks | Company Confidential Attach the Tamper Magnet Holder•On an American meter,attach the magnet so thatthe protrusion holding themagnet points down and tothe left and the gap in thecircle fits around thenotch on the meter.•On a Rockwell meter, attach themagnet holder so that theprotrusion holding the magnetpoints down and to the left andthe inner pin is inserted intothe index screw hole. 11© 2010 Silver Spring Networks | Company Confidential Inspect IMU•Inspect the IMU, ensuring thatthere is no visible damage.•Check the front and rear gaskets.Make minor placementcorrections as needed.–The front gasket should adhereto the enclosure and keep thescrew holes clear.–The rear gasket should beattached to the enclosure on theleft and right, and remainstraight in the middle such thatthe gasket will seal between theenclosure and meter.  Thegasket must keep the screwholes clear.
12© 2010 Silver Spring Networks | Company Confidential Connect Battery Cable Connector•Gently plug in the battery cableconnector to the PCB, if it is notalready connected.–The connectors are keyed.  Thetop side of the male connectorhas a feature that fits into a sloton the top side of the femaleconnector on the PCB.–Orient the connectors beforeattempting to connect.–Carefully insert the maleconnector while holding theopposite end of the femaleconnector.  Do not push themale connector without holdingthe opposite end of the femaleconnector.

14© 2010 Silver Spring Networks | Company Confidential Attach Meter Index to IMU•Use the two index screwsto firmly attach the indexto the IMU.•Index screw torque:–Rockwell: 6-7 inch pounds–American: 8-10 inch pounds•Rotate the drive shaft two turns fromthe rear, clockwise or counter-clockwise, and observe that the 2 foottest hand also moves 2 turns.  The testhand should spin freely.  If not, correctby fixing or replacing the index or IMU.Two rotations of the IMU drive shaft willrotate the 2 ft drive hand tworotations.

You will removethese in a later step.•Using the guide pins, align theIMU to the meter and match themeter wriggler to the IMU driveby adjusting the index test hand.–On the Rockwell meter, rotatethe magnet to 12 o’clock toavoid the screw in the indexwell.–Watch (from the side or top) theIMU drive link to the meterwriggler.•On the American meter, thepin goes into the slot.•On the Rockwell meter, thecup fits over the wriggler(meter gear).
16© 2010 Silver Spring Networks | Company Confidential Attach IMU Assembly to Meter•Hold the enclosure against the meter tomaintain proper alignment to performthe following checks:–If no gas is flowing through the meter,verify that the half cubic ft  test handrotates approximately 180 degrees whenturned gently by hand–If gas is flowing through the meter, youshould see the test hands rotating.  Youdo not need to manually rotate the testhand.•Verify that:–There are no clicking or snappingsounds–There is no gap between the meter andIMU–The rear gasket seals the meter to theIMUHalf foot test hand Two foot test hand

On a Rockwell meter, thecurved side of the index cover goeson top.  The red tamper plugs will fitto the upper left and lower rightcorners.•Tighten the 2 screws.Torque:–Rockwell:  6-8 inch pounds–American: 10-11 inch pounds

The gear shouldrotate at least 120 degrees.•Position an index screw in thecenter right hole and fastenthe adapter using 6-7 in-lbs oftorque.

The gear shouldrotate  at least 120 degrees.•If gas is passing through themeter, the gear should rotatein conjunction with the meter.•You should not hear anyclicking or snapping sounds.
