MLOG Logger Installation Guide
Flow Metrix, Inc.
Revision 2.0
January 18, 2007
FCC ID: RIC-MLOG02
Flow Metrix, Inc.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is
subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause
harmful interference and (2) this device must accept any interference
received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Note: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the
party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority
to operate the device.
MLOG loggers are installed on water service pipes, typically near the meter on the side of the
water main, not the consumer. The logger is housed in a plastic waterproof enclosure. All
electronics, including the vibration sensor, processor, timer, digital radio, and antenna are
sealed inside the unit. Permanent installation requires no tools and takes less than a minute.
The MLOG logger is
attached directly to the
pipe using one (1) buna
O-ring, as shown to the
left or one cable tie, as
shown on the right.
An O-ring is looped
around each of the Oring tags molded onto
the side of the unit. The
cable tie is passed under
the pipe and looped
through the molded tags
on each side of the unit.
Once the MLOG logger has been mounted to the pipe it is
ready to begin recording and will respond to transponder radio
messages. No initialization of the logger is needed.
Note: Each MLOG logger has a 10-digit ID on the product
label. The lower 6 digits uniquely identify the logger and must
match the ID on the installation work order for the service.
FCC Compliance
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for
a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These
limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference
will not occur in a particular installation.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be
determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
•
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
•
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
•
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the
receiver is connected.
•
Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
This radio has been FCC authorized as a mobile device. As such, users and nearby persons are
cautioned to maintain at least a 20 cm (8 inches) separation distance from the radio and its
antenna during operation.
