The SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link is designed to assist a caregiver in monitoring another person. It is not a substitute for watchfulness over individuals who may be at risk of injury from falls. Additional interventions may be required. Safety Instructions Before using, please be sure to read this safety manual carefully. Product specifications described in this material are subject to change without notice. Hazard definitions The following terms are used throughout this manual to bring attention to the presence of hazards and various risk levels, or to important information concerning the use of this product. Warning Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in death or serious injury. Caution Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in injury or property damage. * “Caution” indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. Example of Hazard Indicators Caution including warning Important precautions Must follow the instruction Warning IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Unplug the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link from the AC power and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions. In case of any abnormality such as smoke, hot smell or unusual noise; or If water or any other liquid is spilled into or onto the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link; or If power socket or cord is extremely hot; or If the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link has been dropped or damaged. Do not disassemble or alter the product Do not attempt to disassemble or alter the product. It may cause fire and electric shock. Contact your distributor for inspection, adjustment and repair. Keep Dry Keep this product dry and away from water or other liquids. Failure to keep dry may result an electric shock. Precautions when using the AC adapter If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, do not use and contact your distributor for further information. Do not bundle the AC power cord. If a power strip or extension cord is used with this product, make sure that the total of the ampere ratings on the products plugged into the extension cord or power strip do not exceed the extension cord/power strip’s ampere rating. Do not tamper with the AC adapter cord Follow the instructions below; failure to do so may damage the cord. Do not put heavy items on the cord. Do not modify the cord. Do not forcefully bend the cord. Do not use the cord if damaged. Do not twist or pull the cord. Do not put close to heating materials. Ask your distributor for an exchange if the AC adapter cord is damaged. Failure to do so may result in fire or electic shock. Operate this product only with the specified voltage Use the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link with the speci ed voltage (AC 110V). Failure to do so may cause a re or an electric shock. Keep dry at all times If water/liquid spills or enters the product, it may cause a fire or an electric shock. Inspect the plug and the AC power outlet regularly Remove the dust and dirt between the plug and the outlet regularly. Failure to do so may result in short circuit and fire. The normal operation of this product may be disrupted by electro magnetic interference. If this occurs, please reset the product to resume normal operation by following directions in the instruction manual. If the product does not resume normal operation, please relocate the source of the interference or use the product in a different location. Handle the AC adapter with caution Do not plug in or unplug the adapter with wet hands. It may cause an electric shock. Never pull on the cord when unplugging from the electrical outlet. Always grasp the AC cord plug when unplugging. Do not use the product with an electrical blanket or other electrical items This may cause a damage to the product or an electric shock. Set up precautions Avoid use in an excessively humid, dusty or steamy area. Avoid direct sunlight. The socket-outlet should be easily accessible and located near the equipment. Do not place heavy objects on top of the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link. Rechargeable Battery Cautions Follow the instructions below. Failure to do so may cause the battery to leak or explode, which may lead to fire or injury. Use the specified rechargeable battery only. Replacing the battery with an incorrect type of battery may cause an explosion. Never disassemble the battery. Non-rechargeable batteries must not be recharged. Remove the batteries when not using the device for an extended period of time. Battery disposal warning Never dispose of any battery by fire. All batteries should be disposed of in accordance with applicable local laws. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. When not in use Do not set up on an unstable surface For your safety, unplug the AC adapter from the outlet. This product is used to wirelessly connect various sensors to the call system. Features: • Up to three transmitters can be programmed to a receiver. • Receiver can be set up to make an alarm sound upon detecting an alarm call. *Alarm sound is turned off when it is shipped from the factory. Call System wall socket plug Bed sensor mat Floor sensor mat Chair sensor mat RECEIVER SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link Transmitters Transmitter Transmitter W ir el e ss An additional adapter may be needed to connect the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link to your system. *Check the call system wall plug socket to see what type of connector is required. Be sure to use only SafePresence™ bed/chair sensor mats. Other products may fail or not function properly. Programming the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link Setting up the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link Installing the Receiver: the SafePresence Hook-Up 1. Plug Wireless Link into the call system wall outlet. the AC adapter plug into the AC 2. Insert adapter jack on the side of the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link, then plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet. • Program the Transmitter to the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link before use. • Up to three transmitters may be programmed to the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link. SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link (back) Memory switch Press down with a paperclip 3. Turn the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link power on and make sure the Power LED light turns on. Setting up the Transmitter: Connect the sensor to an appropriate transmitter. Make sure to use correct transmitter for the sensor. 1. On the back of the receiver, press down on the Memory switch with a paperclip, then turn the power on. The green Power LED light will turn on. The red Call LED light will turn on for a second and then turn off. 2. Release the Memory switch. Connect a sensor to the appropriate transmitter. Activate the sensor. The Call LED light on the receiver will turn on for a second and then turn off. Confirm the Link: The SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link’s call LED light will turn on for one second upon receiving a signal from a transmitter and then its responses will immediately be sent to the call system. Obstacles in the wireless path may cause a shorter transmission range. Please test thoroughly in all locations where the product will be used. 3. Repeat these step to set up multiple transmitters. Turn off the power to finish the programming process. Deleting a memory ID SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link (back) Memory switch (press down with a paperclip) 1. 2. 3. Use a paperclip to press down and hold the Memory switch on the back of the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link, then turn the power on. The green Power LED light will turn on and the red Call LED light will turn on for a second and then turn off. Hold the Memory switch down for about 5 seconds. The red Call LED light will turn on.Turn off the power on the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link to complete the process. All memory IDs will be deleted. Notes for bedside pads Some mattresses, including certain types of foam mattresses, may be too soft for the sensor to work properly. The sensor may need to be placed on a firmer surface. Make sure the bedside pad is placed properly. Problem Cause The Power LED light is not turned on when the power is on. Send LED light on the transmitter is turned on, but the Call LED light on the receiver is not turned on. Call LED light on the receiver turns on, but the call system is not activated. Transmitter cannot be registered to the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link. Solution The AC adapter is not connected properly. Connect the AC adapter properly. Transmitter is not properly registered on the receiver. Delete the memory and register the transmitters again. Remove electrical devices or interfering obstacles. Transmitter and receiver are out of range. Move the receiver/transmitter closer together. The SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link is disconnected from the call system. Connect the SafePresence Hook-Up Wireless Link to the call system. 3 transmititters are already registered. Delete the memory and register the transmitters again.
