2INTRODUCTIONThank you for purchasing the BluetoothUSB Adapter (the USB Adapter) from Belkin featuringBluetoothwireless technology.The USB Adapter lets you create cable-free connections betweenyour USB desktop PC and devices using Bluetoothwireless technology.The USB Adapter is compatible with all Bluetoothv1.1-certifieddevices and enables you to wirelessly connect up to seven otherdevices enabled with Bluetoothtechnology, such as printers, PDAs,and cell phones simultaneously. 9SOFTWARE SETUPSoftware Setup for Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XPTo install the software for the USB Adapter, follow the instructions below:Note: The installation process for Windows XP may look slightly different from Windows 98 SE, Me, and 2000. Note: Do not insert the USB Adapter into the USB port prior to installation.1. Insert the software installation CD-ROM intothe PC’s CD-ROM drive.2. The “Software InstallShield Wizard” windowappears. To protect your device, always touch the metal chassis of your computer beforehandling the USB Adapter. This will ground any potential electrostatic discharge. Avoid touching themetal connector when handling the USB Adapter. Dry weather conditions or walking across carpetedfloors may cause you to acquire an electrostatic charge.OverviewThere are two ways to use your USB Adapter:1. Connect the USB Adapter directly to an available USB A-type connector on your desktop ornotebook computer.2. In some instances, attaching the USB Adapter directly to the rear of a desktop PC is notthe optimal place for the antenna to propagate its radio signal. After installing the software and restartingthe system, insert the USB Adapter into anavailable USB port.You should see yoursystem register a new USB device found.2.
