If the plug fitted is not suitable for the power points in your home or the cable is too short to reach a power point, then obtain an appropriate safety approved extension lead or consult your dealer. BE SURE to replace the fuse only with an identical approved type, as originally fitted. If nonetheless the mains plug is cut off ensure to remove the fuse and dispose of the plug immediately, to avoid a possible shock hazard by inadvertent connection to the mains supply. If this product is not supplied fitted with a mains plug then follow the instructions given below: IMPORTANT: DO NOT make any connection to the terminal which is marked with the letter E or by the safety earth symbol or coloured green or green-and-yellow. The wires in the mains lead on this product are coloured in accordance with the following code: Blue: Neutral Brown: Live As these colours may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. IF IN DOUBT - CONSULT A COMPETENT ELECTRICIAN. Please read all instructions carefully before operation, to ensure your complete understanding and to obtain the best possible performance from the System. Precautions How to Read This Manual Installation • Button and control operations are explained in the table below. • Some related tips and notes are explained later in the sections “Learning More about This System” and “Troubleshooting,” but not in the same section explaining the operations ( INFO indicates that the content has some information). • English indications are used for the explanation of the on-screen indications on the TV. You can select the indication language from the Setup menu. See page 40. • Install the System in a location with adequate ventilation to prevent internal heat build-up in the System. DO NOT install the System in a location near heat sources, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or vibration. • Install in a place which is level, dry and neither too hot nor too cold—between 5°C and 35°C. • Leave sufficient distance between the System and the TV. • Keep the speakers away from the TV to avoid interference with the TV. Indicates that you press the button briefly. Indicates that you press the button briefly and repeatedly until the option you want is selected. Power sources • When unplugging the System from the wall outlet, always pull on the plug, not the power cord. Indicates that you press one of the buttons. DO NOT handle the power cord with wet hands. 2 sec. Moisture condensation Moisture may condense on the lens inside the System in the following cases: • After starting to heat the room • In a damp room • If the System is brought directly from a cold to a warm place. Should this occur, the System may malfunction. In this case, leave the System turned on for a few hours until the moisture evaporates, unplug the power cord, then plug it in again. Indicates that you press and hold the button for a specified period. Indicates that you turn the control in the specified direction(s). Remote ONLY Main Unit ONLY Indicates that this operation is only possible using the remote control. Indicates that this operation is only possible using the main unit. Internal heat • Make sure there is good ventilation around the System. Poor ventilation could overheat and damage the System. DO NOT block the ventilation openings or holes. If they are blocked by a newspaper or cloth, etc., the heat may not be able to get out. Others Should any metallic object or liquid fall into the System, unplug the power cord and consult your dealer before operating any further. Supplied accessories Check to be sure that you have all the following items. • FM antenna (×1) • Composite video cord (×1) • System cable (×1) • Remote control (×1) • Batteries (×2) • Stand (×1) If any items are missing, consult your dealer immediately. DO NOT disassemble the System since there are no user serviceable parts inside. • If you are not going to operate the System for an extended period of time, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. This System can play back only DVDs with Region Code numbers including “2.” • “WRONG REGION” appears on the TV if DVD with another Region Code is loaded. Ex.: COMPACT DIGITAL VIDEO SUPER VIDEO DIGITAL AUDIO • CD-R/-RW: Recorded in the Audio CD, Video CD, and SVCD formats. MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DivX files written in accordance with the “ISO 9660” format can also be played. • DVD-R/-RW: Recorded in the DVD Video format and DVD Video Recording (VR) format. MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DivX files written in the UDF-Bridge format can also be played. • +R/+RW: Recorded in the DVD Video format. MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DivX files written in the UDF-Bridge format can also be played. • USB mass storage class device: MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and DivX* files. In addition to the above discs/files, this System can play back audio data recorded on CD-Extra. • The following discs cannot be played back: – DVD-RAM, CD-I (CD-I Ready), CD-ROM, and Photo CD Playing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers. – 8 cm disc An 8 cm disc cannot be played back with this System. • CD Text and DVD Text can be played, but Text information will not be shown on the display. • In this manual, “file” and “track” are used interchangeably. • It is possible to play back finalized +R/+RW (DVD Video format only) discs. DVD indicator lights on the TV screen when a +R/+RW disc is loaded. • “DVD Logo” is a trademark of DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corporation. • This System can play back Everio files (see page 44) recorded on DVD, CD*, and USB mass storage class device*. * Only when the maximum bit rate is less than 2 Mbps. Caution for DualDisc playback The Non-DVD side of a “DualDisc” does not comply with the “Compact Disc Digital Audio” standard. Therefore, the use of the Non-DVD side of a DualDisc in this product may not be recommended. IMPORTANT: Before playing a disc/file, make sure of the following... • Turn on the TV and select an appropriate input mode on the TV to view the pictures or on-screen displays. • For disc/file playback, you can change the initial setting to your preference. See “Setup Menu Operations” on page 39. If “INVALID KEY” appears on the TV screen when you press a button, the disc/file cannot perform the operation you have tried to do. About color system This System can play back discs recorded in both PAL and NTSC video format. When you play back an NTSC disc, the NTSC video signal is converted into the PAL video signal and emitted. 3 EN_NX-T10[B].indb 3 09.9.15 8:32:24 AM Preparations Placing the Main Unit Vertically or Horizontally You can place the main unit either vertically or horizontally. Set the DISPLAY MODE switch according to the way the main unit is placed. • The position of the remote sensor also changes according to the setting of the DISPLAY MODE switch (see page 14). This manual explains operations using the illustrations of the main unit placed vertically as examples. Buttons and operations when the main unit is placed horizontally are the same as when it is placed vertically. When placing the main unit vertically When placing the main unit horizontally Set the DISPLAY MODE switch to “V” (vertical) and attach the supplied stand to the main unit (see page 9). • When installing the main unit on a wall (see page 11), also set the DISPLAY MODE switch to “V.” Set the DISPLAY MODE switch to “H” (horizontal). Detach the connector cover from the main unit and connect the cords by passing them through the hole of the connector cover. When connecting your TV Connect your TV directly to the System. Connecting the System to a TV via other device, such as a VCR or an HDD/DVD recorder, may interfere with your viewing. Connecting an integrated TV/VCR system to the System may also interfere with your viewing. • Connect the HDMI cable straight not to cause damage to the HDMI terminal. Protective cap * Connect the digital audio output to the DIGITAL IN (OPTICAL) terminal when the device does not emit audio signals from its HDMI output. When connecting a Blu-ray device or a Digital Set Top Box • When connecting with an HDMI cable, use the HDMI cable of less than 2 m. • Scanning mode setting of the System (see page 14) does not affect the video signals of the HDMI MONITOR OUT terminal coming from the HDMI IN 1 and 2 terminals. • When connecting the digital audio output of the device to the DIGITAL IN (OPTICAL) terminal, make sure of the following: – Set the digital audio output setting of the device properly. For details, refer to the manual of the device. Following signals can be reproduced on the System: Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Surround, Linear PCM • For the audio signals coming from the HDMI IN 1 and 2 terminals, you can choose whether to emit the signals to the TV through the HDMI MONITOR OUT terminal or reproduce the sound on the System. For details, see page 41. HDMI cable (not supplied) Use an HDMI cable of less than 2 m. • Connect the HDMI cable straight not to cause damage to the HDMI terminal. Component video cord (not supplied) Blue Red Green Composite video cord (supplied) • When connecting a TV with an HDMI cable or a component video cord, select the appropriate video signal output according to the TV. See pages 14 and 15. • When you use an HDMI cable, make appropriate settings in the Setup menu (see pages 39 – 42). • This System is compatible with some basic functions of HDMI CEC. See pages 8 and 9. Disconnect the supplied FM antenna, and connect to an outdoor FM antenna using a 75 Ω wire with coaxial type connector (IEC or DIN45325). See page 9. ¤ Speakers Connect the speakers to the subwoofer by connecting the colored connectors to the same color terminals on the rear of the subwoofer. IMPORTANT Blue White From the left speaker Red Gray CAUTION: • The supplied speakers are manufactured exclusively for use with the NX-T10 System. Do not connect the supplied speakers to any devices other than the subwoofer of the System (SP-NXT10W). Doing so may damage the speakers. • Do not connect external speakers together with the supplied speakers. The change in impedance may damage the System. From the right speaker Speaker unit for the surround channel (on the top) • Improper speaker cable connection reduces the stereo effect and sound quality. • The supplied left/right speakers are magnetically shielded, but color irregularity may occur on the TV. To prevent color irregularity, set up the speakers following the instructions below. (The subwoofer is not magnetically shielded.) 1 Turn off the main power of the TV before setting up the speakers. 2 Place the speakers enough distance from the TV so that they do not cause color irregularity on the TV. 3 Wait for approximately 30 minutes before turning on the main power of the TV again. Omni-Directional Speakers provides a wide sound field and realistic acoustic ambience. • When it is difficult to place the speakers as illustrated above, you can adjust the output level of the speakers to have a better sound effect. Injury to personnel or damage to devices may result if the installed speakers interfere with daily activities. When placing the main unit vertically, make sure to attach the supplied stand to the main unit. Attach the supplied stand firmly to the back of the main unit after connections have been completed. CAUTION: • Be sure to have the main unit installed by qualified personnel. • DO NOT install the main unit on the wall by yourself to avoid unexpected damage from them falling off the wall due to incorrect installation or weakness in wall structure. • Care must be taken in selecting a location for installation on a wall. Injury to personnel or damage to devices may result if the main unit installed on a wall interfere with daily activities. • The main unit weighs approximately 2.3 kg. Sufficient care must be required when installing the main unit on a wall to prevent any accidents caused by the main unit’s falling off. • Before installing the main unit on a wall, check the wall (or other related aspects) to install, and verify whether the strength of the wall will be sufficient to support the weight of the main unit. • Do not install the main unit to a plywood or plasterboard wall. The main unit will fall and sustain damage as a result. • The screws needed for attachment are not supplied. Use screws which are compatible with the strength and material of the pillar or wall. • When installing the main unit, the screws must be secured tightly in all three locations. Failure in installing the main unit to the wall using all three holes on the back of the main unit makes for an unstable installation and it constitutes a safety hazard as the main unit may fall down. Example of attachment The procedure below is an example of how to attach the main unit to a wall. It does not make any guarantee for safety while using the main unit on the wall. Take into account such factors as the material, strength, and the status of the wall as well as the reinforcing material, and the possible changes that will take place over time. • You need to connect the cords to the main unit before attaching it to the wall. • DO NOT plug the power cord into an AC outlet before installing the main unit on the wall. 1 Select the place (wooden wall) where the main unit is to be attached. Avoid a plywood or plasterboard wall. 2 For reinforcement purposes, prepare the wooden board which will be used to install the main unit on the wall. Before proceeding, check the position of the supports inside the wall. Anchor the board securely in at least four places to the supports inside the wall. The diameter of the screws must be more than 4 mm and their length must be 3 times the thickness of the board mounted on the wall (also take the thickness of the wall into account). 4 Mount three screws (not supplied) to the board which has been attached on the wall. Attach the screws to the board as illustrated below. 5 Hook the main unit onto the mounted screws and slide the main unit down. Doing so may cause the main unit to fall down, and cause injury to the persons around. • Do not climb onto the main unit or hang from it. Doing so may damage the main unit and/or cause injury to the person. Take care specially when there are small children at the home. • Avoid sandwiching the cords between the main unit and wall. This may upset the balance of the main unit and cause the main unit to fall down. • Make sure that the connected cords will not interfere with daily activities and that the users will not be caught in the cords. • Do not pull the connected cords with excessive force. • Check regularly that none of the screws are loose. • In the event that the main unit has fallen, turn off the power, disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet. Then, contact your dealer for an inspection and repairs. Using the main unit in this state may cause a fire or electrical shock. • Do not place valuables (breakables) underneath the location where the main unit is installed. They will be damaged if the main unit should fall. • JVC bears no responsibility for any accidents or damage resulting from inadequate assembly or mounting, insufficient strength of attachment, misuse or abuse, or natural disasters. Preparing the Remote Control Insert the battery into the remote control by matching the polarity (+ and –) correctly. The sound will no longer come out of the speakers. Be sure to turn down the volume before connecting or putting on the headphones. • Disconnecting the headphones will activate the speakers again. • The surround effect is automatically deactivated while connecting a pair of headphones. Remote ONLY The MONO (monaural) indicator lights on the display. Reception will improve though stereo effect is lost— Monaural reception. To restore the stereo effect, press the button again. The ST (stereo) indicator lights on the display when an FM stereo broadcast with sufficient signal strength is received. How to select a number Remote ONLY To preset the stations You can preset 30 FM stations. 1 2 Press the number buttons to enter the number, then press ENTER. Some items are automatically selected without pressing ENTER. Examples: To select number 7, press 7, then ENTER. To select number 14, press 1, 4, then ENTER. When the sound of DVD Video or DVD-VR is not loud enough DVD sound is sometimes recorded at a lower level than other discs and sources. You can set the increase level for the currently loaded DVD (without changing the volume level). To set the increase level, see page 41. Resume play To play back a disc/USB mass storage class device While DVD/CD or USB is selected... To start: To pause: The System can store the stop point of playback. When you start playback again by pressing 3, playback starts from the position where you have stopped. To stop completely, press 7 twice. • The following operations also erase the memory of the stop point: – Pressing 0 to open the disc player panel to turn on the System when the System is – Pressing turned off (standby). To cancel the prohibition, repeat the same procedure. “UNLOCKED” appears on the display. 31 EN_NX-T10[B].indb 31 09.9.15 8:32:51 AM Recording Operations INFO Before You Start Recording Remote control • It should be noted that it may be unlawful to rerecord pre-recorded tapes, records, or discs without the consent of the owner of copyright in the sound or video recording, broadcast or cable program and in any literary, dramatic, musical, or artistic work embodied therein. • The recording level is not affected by the volume. • Surround mode effect, tone adjustment, and the speaker level settings (see pages 22, 23, and 42) do not affect recordings. • Random Play and Repeat Mode are canceled during recording mode. • You can record up to 99 tracks per group to the USB device. • Tracks which are recorded to the USB device will be converted into MP3 format. • You cannot start recording into a USB device while “READING” is shown on the display. • You cannot record tracks in the root group as much as into other groups. This is not a malfunction. It depends on the USB device used. • Do not disconnect a USB device while playing/recording. It may cause malfunction. About SCMS (Serial Copy Management System) The System uses the Serial Copy Management System which allows only first-generation digital copies to be made of premastered software such as regular CDs. AMP: The audio signal is not emitted from the HDMI MONITOR OUT terminal. The System reproduces the sound. HDMI CEC You can select the usage for the HDMI CEC function. (Refer also to page 42.) ON 1: Normally select this for using the HDMI CEC function. ON 2: Select this if you do not want to have the System automatically turned on/off by turning on/off the TV or external HDMI CEC compatible devices. All other available HDMI CEC functions operate the same as when “ON 1” is selected. OFF: Deactivates the HDMI CEC function. DVICOLOR You can select the settings for the picture appearance (image quality, color intensity and black fading) on the TV connected to the HDMI MONITOR OUT terminal. STANDARD: Normally select this. ENHANCE: The System automatically adjusts the picture appearance. DVDLEVEL DVD sound is sometimes recorded at a lower level than other discs and sources. You can set the increase level for the currently loaded DVD, so you do not have to adjust the volume when you change the source. • This only functions for DVD Video and DVD-VR. NORMAL: Original recording level. MEDIUM: Output level is increased (less than “HIGH”). OFF: Deactivates this function. SUBLEVEL You can adjust the output level of the subwoofer. (–6 dB to +6 dB) LS/RSLVL You can adjust the output level of the surround channels. (–6 dB to +6 dB) LR LEVEL You can adjust the output level of the front channels. (–6 dB to +6 dB) Basic operations of HDMI CEC Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is the controlling signals optionally employed for the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) standard. When devices equipped with CEC are connected, each device can control the others. The System is compatible with some basic functions of HDMI CEC. The System (Main unit) TV compatible with HDMI CEC HDMI cable (not supplied) HDMI cable (not supplied) HDMI device compatible with HDMI CEC Following operations are available: • The TV automatically turns on and changes the input to the one the System is connected in the following cases: – When you select “DVD/CD” or “USB” as the source on the System – When you start playback on the HDMI device connected to the System • When you select the System as the source of the TV, the System automatically turns on. • When you select “HDMI 1” or “HDMI 2” on the System, the HDMI device connected to the System automatically turns on and start playback. • When you turn off the TV, the System automatically turns off. (This function works when “ON 1” is selected for “HDMI CEC” setting. See page 41.) • When you select the menu screen language of the TV, the same language is automatically selected on the System after the System is turned off and turned on again. (The selectable languages are limited to those supported by the System.) • As long as the connected TV is compatible, you can use the operations of the TV to start playback and operate other functions on the System. Note: • This function is available only when the source is set to “DVD/CD,” “HDMI 1,” “HDMI 2,” or “USB.” • This function is available when “ON 1” or “ON 2” is selected for the “HDMI CEC” setting (see page 41). • For details about the CEC function, refer to the operation manuals of the connected CEC devices. • If the power cord is not connected to an AC outlet, the CEC function does not work, even when the System is connected to CEC devices. • Not all HDMI devices are compatible with CEC. If the System is connected to non-CEC compatible devices, these devices cannot be controlled using the CEC function. • The CEC function may not work with some CEC devices. • The CEC function may not work depending on the settings or status of the System. • When connecting the System to a TV with an HDMI cable for the first time after purchase, confirm that “JVC” (the initial screen) appears. • When you disconnect the HDMI cable and connect it again, confirm that “JVC” appears. • If the CEC function does not work properly, select “OFF” for the “HDMI CEC” setting, and then select “ON 1” or “ON 2” again (see page 41). 42 EN_NX-T10[B].indb 42 09.9.15 8:33:01 AM Additional Information Learning More about This System Preparations (see pages 4 to 15) Connections: • Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch any other terminals, connecting cords or the power cord. Also, keep the antennas away from metallic parts of the System, connecting cords, and the power cord. These could cause poor reception. • The speakers are magnetically shielded to avoid color distortions on TVs. However, if not installed properly, it may cause color distortions. So, pay attention to the following when installing the speakers. – When placing the speakers near a TV set, turn off the TV’s main power switch or unplug it before installing the speakers. Then wait at least 30 minutes before turning on the TV’s main power switch again. – Some TVs may still be affected even though you have followed the above instructions. If this happens, move the speakers away from the TV. Changing the Scanning Mode: • Do not change the scanning mode to progressive in the following cases: – When your TV does not support the progressive video input. – When you have not connected your TV to the System using an HDMI cable or a component video cord. Daily Operations—Playback (see pages 17 to 21) Listening to the FM Radio: • If you store a new station into an occupied preset number, the previously stored station in that number will be erased. • When you unplug the power cord or if a power failure occurs, the preset stations will be erased in a few days. If this happens, preset the stations again. Playing Back a Disc/USB Mass Storage Class Device: JVC bears no responsibility for any loss of data in the USB mass storage class device while using this System. • When you change the source to “DVD/CD” or “USB,” it may take a while to activate the source. • While the System is reading a disc, the source may not change to “USB” properly. In this case, press 7, then reselect “USB” as the source. • On some discs, the actual operations may be different from what are explained in this manual due to the programming and disc structure; such differences are not malfunctions of this System. • The System recognizes up to 999 tracks (files) and 130 groups per disc/USB mass storage class device. – If any unplayable files are included in a folder, those files are also counted in the total file number. – Playable files which do not belong to any groups are handled as GROUP 1. • For playback of files in the USB mass storage class device... – When connecting a USB mass storage class device, refer also to its manual. – Connect one USB mass storage class device to the System at a time. Do not use a USB hub. – You cannot charge any USB mass storage class device ) through the USB MEMORY REC/PLAY ( terminal. – While playing back a file in a USB mass storage class device, do not disconnect the device. It may cause malfunction on both the System and the device. – This System is compatible with USB 2.0 Full Speed. – You cannot play back a file larger than 2 Gigabytes. – When playing a file of a large transfer rate, frames or sounds may be dropped during playback. – This System cannot recognize a USB mass storage class device whose rating is other than 5 V and exceeds 500 mA. – This System may not play back some USB mass storage class devices and does not support DRM (Digital Rights Management). – It will take some time to start up a digital audio player whose contents are larger than 1 Gigabyte. – Electrostatic shock at connecting a USB device may cause abnormal playback of the device. In this case, disconnect the USB device, unplug the power cord and plug it back in to reset the System, then connect the USB device again. • For DVD-VR playback... – This System can play only a disc of UDF-Bridge format. – For details about DVD-VR format and Play List, refer to the manual of the recording equipment. • For MP3/WMA playback... – MP3/WMA discs require a longer readout time than regular CDs. (It depends on the complexity of the group/file configuration.) – Some MP3/WMA files cannot be played back and will be skipped. This results from their recording processes and conditions. – This System can play only a disc of ISO 9660 Level 1 or Level 2. – This System can play back MP3/WMA files with the extension code <.mp3> or <.wma> (regardless of the letter case—upper/lower). – It is recommended that you make each MP3/WMA files as following conditions: – At a sample rate of 44.1 kHz and at a data transfer rate of 128 kbps. (If a file has been recorded at a resolution of more than 640 x 480, it will take a long time to be shown.) – This System can play back JPEG files with the extension code <.jpg> or <.jpeg> (regardless of the letter case— upper/lower). – This System may not play back JPEG files properly if they are recorded from a device other than a digital camera. • For MPEG-1/MPEG-2 playback... – This System can play back MPEG-1/MPEG-2 files with the extension code <.mpg>, <.mpeg>, or <.mod>*. * <.mod> is an extension code used for the MPEG-2 files recorded by JVC Everio camcorders. The MPEG-2 files with the <.mod> extension code cannot be played back if HD format is used or its maximum bit rate is more than 2 Mbps. – The stream format should conform to MPEG system/ program stream. – 720 x 576 pixels (25 fps) / 720 x 480 pixels (30 fps) is recommended for the highest resolution. – This System also supports the resolutions of 352 x 576 / 480 x 576 / 352 x 288 pixels (25 fps) and 352 x 480 / 480 x 480 / 352 x 240 pixels (30 fps). – The file format should be MP@ML (Main Profile at Main Level)/SP@ML (Simple Profile at Main Level)/ MP@LL (Main Profile at Low Level). – Audio streams should conform to MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer-2. • For DivX playback... – This System can play only a disc of UDF-Bridge format. “Multi-border” is not supported. – The System supports all versions of DivX® video (including DivX® 6). – The System supports DivX files whose resolution is 720 x 480 pixels or less (30 fps), and 720 x 576 pixels or less (25 fps). – Audio stream should conform to Dolby Digital, MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2 or MPEG Audio Layer-3 (MP3). – This System can play back DivX files with the extension code <.divx> <.div> <.avi> (regardless of the letter case—upper/lower). – The System does not support GMC (Global Motion Compression). – The file encoded in the interlaced scanning mode may not be played back correctly. Daily Operations—Sound & Other Adjustments (see pages 22 and 23) Adjusting the Sound: • When using the headphones: – The bass/treble adjustment affects the sound through the headphones. – The surroound mode is deactivated. Your entry will be ignored if you have tried to program an item number that does not exist (for example, selecting track 14 on a disc that only has 12 tracks). Playing Repeatedly: • A-B Repeat is available only within the same title/original program/track. 44 EN_NX-T10[B].indb 44 09.9.15 8:33:05 AM Setup Menu Operations (see pages 39 to 42) General: • If the upper and lower parts of the menu are cut off, adjust the picture size control of the TV. menu—TV TYPE: • Even if “4:3 PS” is selected, the screen size may become 4:3 letter box while playing a disc/file. This depends on how the discs are recorded. • When you select “16:9” for a picture whose aspect ratio is 4:3, the picture changes slightly due to the process of converting the picture width. menu: • When the language you have selected for “MENU LANG,” “AUDIO LANG,” or “SUBTITLE LANG” is not recorded, the original language is used as the initial language. Maintenance To get the best performance of the System, keep your discs and mechanism clean. Handling Discs • Remove the disc from its case by holding it at the edge while pressing the center hole lightly. • Do not touch the shiny surface of the disc, or bend the disc. • Put the disc back in its case after use to prevent warping. • Be careful not to scratch the surface of the disc when placing it back in its case. • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperature, and moisture. To clean the disc: Wipe the disc with a soft cloth in a straight line from center to edge. Cleaning the System • Stains should be wiped off with a soft cloth. If the System is heavily stained, wipe it with a cloth soaked in waterdiluted neutral detergent and wrung well, then wipe clean with a dry cloth. • Since the System may deteriorate in quality, become damaged or get its paint peeled off, be careful about the following: – DO NOT wipe it with a hard cloth. – DO NOT wipe it forcefully. – DO NOT wipe it with thinner or benzine. – DO NOT apply any volatile substance such as insecticides to it. – DO NOT allow any rubber or plastic to remain in contact for a long time. 45 EN_NX-T10[B].indb 45 09.9.15 8:33:06 AM Troubleshooting General Adjustments or settings are suddenly canceled before you finish. ] There is a time limit. No sound is heard. ] Speaker connections are incorrect or loose. ] Headphones are connected. No picture is displayed on the TV screen, the picture is blurred, or the picture is divided into two parts. ] The video cord connections are incorrect or loose. ] The System is connected to a TV which does not support progressive video input. ] Incorrect scanning mode is selected (see pages 14 and 15). ] When you unplug the power cord and plug it back again, the scanning mode may change back to the initial setting (see pages 14 and 15). The left and right edges of the picture are missing on the screen. ] Select “4:3 LB” for “TV TYPE” (see page 39). FM Radio Operations Hard to hear broadcasts because of noise. ] Antenna connections are incorrect or loose. ] The FM antenna is not properly extended and positioned. Disc/USB Mass Storage Class Device Playback Operations The disc cannot be played back. ] You have inserted a disc whose Region Code does not include “2.” (“WRONG REGION” appears on the TV.) ] The disc is placed upside down. Place the disc with the label side facing front or facing up. ID3 Tag on an MP3 file cannot be shown. ] There are two types of ID3 Tag—Version 1 and Version 2. This System can only show ID3 Tag Version 1. Groups and tracks are not played back as you expect. ] The playing order is determined when the groups and tracks were recorded. It depends on the writing application. MP3, WMA, JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, or DivX files are not played back. ] The disc or the USB mass storage class device may contain different types of files (ex. MP3/WMA/JPEG). In this case, you can only play back the files selected on the control screen (see page 19). ] You have changed the file type setting after the System read the disc or the USB mass storage class device. In this case, reload the disc or disconnect the USB mass storage class device and connect it again. The picture is distorted. ] A device, such as a VCR or an HDD/DVD recorder, is connected between the main unit and the TV. Connect the main unit directly to the TV (see page 6). The screen size is improper. ] The monitor type setting is not appropriate. Select the monitor type suitable for your TV (see page 39). ] The screen size setting of the TV is improper. The TV screen is dark. ] The screen saver setting is activated. Press any button (see page 39).
