RD75606 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT 2.0 PRODUCT OVERVIEW Thank you for choosing the Jetlun Gateway (RD75606). The Gateway collects and stores all the energy usage information collected from the other Jetlun devices on your network. You can also use the Gateway to centrally manage and control the Jetlun devices on your network. When the Gateway is connected to a residential router, it can be configured for remote access. The Jetlun Gateway is a powerful energy management system that integrates four types of network connectivity technologies: (1) standard Ethernet operating up to 100 Mbps; (2) Zigbee® wireless operating at up to 250 Kbps; (3) HomePlug® Command and Control operating over the existing home wiring at up to 7.5 Kbps; and (4) HomePlug AV operating over the existing home wiring at up to 200 Mbps. By integrated these four network connectivity technologies, the Jetlun Gateway provides the utmost flexibility in installation and the most pervasive network solution for your home. 2.1 Package Contents When you first open the box, please check and confirm that the following items are all included: • • • • 1x Gateway RD75606 1x Universal Power Supply 1x 6 ft Ethernet cable 1x Quick Installation Guide If any of the parts are incorrect, missing or damaged, contact the retailer where you made your purchase. Keep the carton, including the original packaging materials in case you need to return the unit for repair. 2.2 Front Panel Figure 1: Front Panel of the Gateway Table 3: Front Panel LED Description The Power LED lights up GREEN and will stay on while the Gateway is powered on. When the Gateway goes through its self-diagnostic mode during every boot-up, this LED will flash GREEN. When the diagnostic cycle is complete, the LED will be RD75606 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT 1, 2, 3, 4 GREEN and solidly lit. The Battery LED lights up GREEN when you turn on the battery and the battery is full. When the Gateway has no external power and is operating on the battery power, this LED will flash RED. When the Gateway has external power and is recharging the battery, this LED will flash GREEN. The SD LED lights up GREEN when you have an SD memory card plugged into the memory slot located on the back of the Gateway. When there is no SD memory card plugged in, this LED will NOT be lit. These numbed LEDs, corresponding with the numbered ports on the Gatewayʼs back panel, serve two purposes. If the LED is continuously lit GREEN, the Gateway is successfully connected to a device through that port. A flashing LED indicates network activity over that port. The HPCC LED continuously lights up GREEN when the Gateway is successfully connected to another HPCC (narrowband powerline) device on the network. If the LED is flashing, the Gateway is actively sending or receiving data over the network. If the LED is flashing RED, the Gateway is experiencing collisions on the network. The HPAV LED continuously lights up GREEN when the Gateway is successfully connected to another HPAV (broadband powerline) device on the network. If the LED is flashing, the Gateway is actively sending or receiving data over the network. If the LED is flashing RED, the Gateway is experiencing collisions on the network. The Zigbee LED continuously lights up GREEN when the Gateway is successfully connected to another Zigbee device on the network. If the LED is flashing, the Gateway is actively sending or receiving data over the network. There are two ways to reset the Routerʼs factory defaults. Either press and hold the Reset Button for approximately five seconds, or restore the defaults with your computer from Administration > Factory Defaults in the Gatewayʼs web-based utility. The Battery switch is where you turn on/off the backup battery in the Gateway. By default, the Gateway battery is turned OFF. It is recommended that you turn the battery to the ON position during installation. The SD/MMC port is where you will plug in an SD memory card. These Ethernet ports (1, 2, 3, 4) connect the Gateway to PCs on your wired network and other Ethernet network devices. RD75606 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT 3.0 INSTALLING THE JETLUN GATEWAY Follow these quick steps to install your Jetlun Gateway. 3.1 Connecting the Jetlun Gateway to your Router STEP 1: Connect the supplied Ethernet cable to an available port on your router and connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to one of the four ports on the back of the Gateway. STEP 2: Turn off your PC or laptop. Then, using an Ethernet cable, connect your PC or laptop to one of the three other available ports on the back of the Gateway. STEP 3: Connect the Gateway Universal Power Supply to the Power port on the back of the Gateway and plug in to a nearby power outlet. Wait about 30 seconds for the lights to stop blinking. IMPORTANT: Plug the Jetlun Gateway directly into an electrical outlet. Do not plug the Gateway into a UPS, power strip, or other similar device with surge protection. The Gateway has its own power filter for protection against surges. 3.2 STEP 4: Now, you can turn on your PC or laptop. STEP 5: Locate the Gateway IP address from your Router Local Area Network (LAN) client list. STEP 6: To access the Gatewayʼs web-based utility, launch the web browser on your computer, and enter the assigned IP address of the Gateway from your router in the Address field. Then, press Enter. Connecting to the Jetlun Gateway in absence of a Router STEP 1: Turn off your PC or laptop. Then, using an Ethernet cable, connect your PC or laptop to one of the three other available ports on the back of the Gateway. STEP 2: Connect the Gateway Universal Power Supply to the Power port on the back of the Gateway and plug in to a nearby power outlet. Wait about 30 seconds for the lights to stop blinking. IMPORTANT: Plug the Jetlun Gateway directly into an electrical outlet. Do not plug the Gateway into a UPS, power strip, or other similar device with surge protection. STEP 4: Set a static IP address on your computer to 192.168.1.97. STEP 5: To access the Gatewayʼs web-based utility, launch the web browser and enter the following Gateway default IP address 192.168.1.230, in the Address field. Then, press Enter. Accessing the Gatewayʼs Web Utility STEP 1: Upon bringing up the Gateway login page, enter your user ID and password. The first time you open the web-based utility, use the default user ID admin and the default password admin. (You can set a new password from the Administration tabʼs Management screen.) Click Login to continue. When you first log in, the Dashboard screen will be displayed. RD75606 10 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT 4.0 CONFIGURING THE GATEWAY 4.1 Gateway Web-Utility Navigation Guide The user interface is divided into five main categories: • Dashboard. The Dashboard tab provides an overview of your Jetlun Intelligent Management (JIM) System for the current day. • Trends. The Trends tab provides a detailed view of your JIM system by device and provides an expanded view of your historical energy usage information. • Home Area Network. The Home Area Network tab provides a list of Jetlun devices on the network. Its status and allows you to control it. • Setup. The Setup tab allows you to change basic settings, set or change date and time information, and configure the network. • Administration. The Administration tab allows you to change passwords, backup the settings, reboot the system, view log information, and upgrade the Gateway firmware. At the top of each screen is a Reboot link to restart the Gateway, a Logout link to log out of the Gateway and a link to sign up for Googleʼs PowerMeter service. Figure 3: Top menu screenshot 4.2 Configuration and Maintenance 4.2.1 Administration 4.2.1.1 Management The Administration > Management screen allows you to change the login User Name and Password to the Gateway. Changing the Gateway User Name and Password ensures security to your Gateway. The default User Name is admin and the default Password is admin. RD75606 11 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT Figure 4: Administration > Management screenshot NOTE: Please note that the User ID and Password to the web-utility is case sensitive. 4.2.1.2 Alerts The Administration > Alerts screen allows you to configure Alerts to receive an email or text message to your mobile phone based on an event. STEP 2: Enter your email address. STEP 3: Enter your full Mail Server address. STEP 4: Enter your User Name for your email. STEP 5: Enter your Password to your email account. STEP 6: Enter your email address registered in the mail server. STEP 7: Click Apply. Then, specify whether you would like to receive an email or a text message to your mobile phone according to an event, select either Email or Mobile or Both under each event. 4.2.1.3 Logs The Administration > Logs screen keeps a record of your Gateway activities. It can be configured to email you copies of your log files directly if the Gateway is connected to the Internet. STEP 2: Enter your full email address under Email Address for Logs (i.e. johndoe@gmail.com) STEP 3: Enter your full Mail Server address. STEP 4: Enter your User Name for your email. STEP 5: Enter your Password to your email account. STEP 6: Enter your email address registered in the mail server. STEP 7: Enter the log queue length. By default, the log queue is set to 20. STEP 8: Select the type of logs you would like to keep a record of. STEP 9: Click Apply. RD75606 14 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT NOTE: The email log function will not work if the Gateway is not connected to the Internet. 4.2.1.4 Factory Defaults The Administration > Factory Defaults screen allows you to restore the Gatewayʼs configuration to its factory default settings. Figure 7: Administration > Factory Default screenshot NOTE: Do not restore the factory defaults unless you are having difficulties with the Gateway and have exhausted all other troubleshooting measures. Once the Gateway is reset, you will have to re-enter all of your configuration settings. To restore to Factory Default settings, follow these steps: STEP 1: Check the box, Restore Default Configuration. STEP 2: Check the box, Clear Historical Records (optional). NOTE: Clear Historical Records will delete the energy usage information off your Gateway. Uncheck this box if you want to retain your usage information. STEP 3: Click on Apply. 4.2.1.5 Firmware Upgrade The Administration > Firmware Upgrade screen allows you to upgrade the Gatewayʼs firmware. Do not upgrade the firmware unless you are RD75606 15 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT experiencing problems with the Gateway or the new firmware has a feature you want to use. Figure 8: Administration > Firmware Upgrade screenshot NOTE: Upgrading firmware may cause the Gateway to lose your custom settings. Before you upgrade firmware, write down all of your custom settings. After you upgrade firmware, you may have to re-enter some or all of your configuration settings. To upgrade Gatewayʼs firmware, follow these steps: STEP 1: Download the Gatewayʼs firmware upgrade file from Jetlun Technical Support by emailing support@jetlun.com. STEP 2: Click Browse and select the downloaded file. STEP 3: After you have selected the appropriate file, click Update, and follow the on-screen instructions. 4.2.1.6 Configuration Management The Administration > Configuration Management screen allows you to save configuration settings and restore a saved configuration setting file. Click Save in the dialog frame and click browse to locale where you want to save the configuration file. Name the file. Click save. To restore a saved configuration setting file: STEP 1: Click Browse, to locate where your saved configuration file. STEP 2: Click Restore. 4.2.1.7 Diagnosis The Administration > Diagnosis screen allows you to diagnosis the energy measurement for all devices in the network. RD75606 17 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT Figure 10: Administration > Diagnosis screenshot To diagnose energy measurement: STEP 1: Click Start, begin the diagnosis and the result will be shown in the screen STEP 2: Click Stop to halt the diagnosis 4.2.2 Setup 4.2.2.1 Basic Setup The Setup > Basic Setup screen allows you to configure basic information about your home setup. Enter your current energy provider name (i.e. PG&E) Billing Date. Enter the day you receive your bill. (i.e. if you receive the bill for period between July 15 through August 14, put 15) Account Number with your current energy providers. Enter your account number with your current energy provider. Number of People in your Household. Enter the number of people living in your home. Size of Home. Enter the size of your home in square footage. Zones Setup. The Gateway allows you to divide your home into Zones (or rooms). You can add a Zone by click on the + icon, entering your Zone name and click Apply. The right column (B), allows you to enter in your desired tariff (rate) from your energy provider. The Gateway gives you two types of customizable tariff settings: You can either configure by Time-Of-Use (a distinct period of time that you set yourself) or by Usage-Tier (based on a minimum amount of wattage used.) To configure by Time-Of-Use, select Time-OfUse in the Tariff Type selection menu, and simply create your own customized time period using the Time from and To drop-down menus, enter the price and click Apply when complete. To configure by UsageTier, enter a wattage amount value (kWh) for each respective tier (you RD75606 19 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT may create up to 6 separate tiers, or minimum wattage levels, with tier 1 representing the lowest value and tier 6 the highest.) NOTE: Please note: the interface will not allow you to proceed- and a warning announcement will appear to this effect- if a higher tier has a lower value than any lower tier (or vice versa) NOTE: Please note: you must obtain rate information from your utility provider before entering into the fields. 4.2.2.2 Network Setup The Setup > Network Setup screen allows you to configure the Gateway to use a Static IP or to obtain a Dynamic IP from your router. By default, the Gateway is configured to automatically obtain a Dynamic IP from your gateway. Figure 12: Setup > Network screenshot To configure the Gateway with a Static IP, simply select Static IP under IP settings and enter in your IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway IP, and DNS. Then, click Apply. IMPORTANT: Please ensure your subnet mask matches the subnet of your network. To switch to Dynamic IP, simply select Dynamic IP under IP Settings and click Apply. RD75606 20 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT 4.2.2.3 Time The Setup > Time screen allows you to configure the Timezone, DATE and TIME of the Gateway. NOTE: The Gateway uses a 24-hour time format. Figure 13: Setup > Time screenshot To configure the date and time, simply enter the Year, select the Month, Day, Hour, Minute and Seconds. NOTE: The Gateway will automatically attempt to synchronize itself with the time on your computer and will automatically adjust for Daylight Savings only if your computer is configured to do so. 4.2.2.4 HomePlug AV The Setup > HomePlug AV screen allows you to configure the network encryption key (NEK) for your broadband HomePlug AV Powerline network. NOTE: Encryption of the information you send over the Powerline helps keep it secure. The Powerline NEK is similar to the SSID and encryption key used in wireless networks. IMPORTANT: Powerline devices on the same network must use an identical encryption key. The Gatewayʼs RD75606 21 Jetlun Corporation Jetlun Gateway User Guide rev 0.3 DRAFT default encrypted (case-sensitive!) password is HomePlugAV. If you do not set up security, anyone nearby with a Powerline network can use this to gain access to your network. IMPORTANT: The Setup > HomePlug AV screen provides an interface to configure the NEK on the Gateway only. To configure the NEK for other remote HomePlug AV devices, please follow the instructions that came with that HomePlug AV device. Figure 14: HomePlug AV NEK screenshot To change the NEK on the Gateway, please enter the new NEK under the left column (A) and click Apply. The right column (B) identifies other HomePlug AV devices on the network with the same NEK. 4.2.2.5 HPCC Network The Setup > HPCC Network screen allows you to configure the security of your HPCC network. If you want HPCC devices such as the Jetlun Appliance Module (RD75613) to join the network automatically, select Auto and click Apply. If you prefer to authenticate each device manually first, select Approval and click Apply. Figure 15: HPCC Network screenshot 4.2.2.6 Zigbee The Setup > Zigbee screen allows you to configure permission for zigbee device joining your Zigbee Network. Figure 16: Zigbee screenshot To configure the permission STEP 1: Click the Leave, if there are devices in the zigbee network, they all leave the former network. All the zigbee devices join the same network will show up in the Home Area Network. (See 4.2.3) 4.2.3 Home Area Network 4.2.3.1 Network Overview The Home Area Network > Network Overview screen provides a list of the devices connected to your Gateway. Devices should automatically appear on the table when they are connected on the network. Please note: Any device that was added manually on the HPCC Network page will NOT automatically show up in the Home Area Network Overview screen. To add a device, click on Add, and then manually key in the serial number located on the back of the client device. Figure 17: Home Area Network screenshot Each row in the table lists a device serial number (S/N), Device Name, Zone, Type of Sensor, Status* (ONLINE / OFFLINE, or ON / OFF), Authentication and Operate mode. *In the Status column, ONLINE/OFFLINE refers to whether a device is connected to the Gateway or not.
