than 10feet in lengthfor properdrainage.
• The dishwashermust be fully enclosedonthe top, sidesand
back, andmust not supportanypart of the enclosure.

DRAIN REQUIREMENTS
•Followlocalcodesandordinances.
•Donotexceed10feet distanceto drain.
•Donotconnectdrainlinesfrom otherdevicesto the
dishwasherdrain hose.
•Dishwashermustbeconnectedto waste linewith an airgap
(notsupplied)or32" minimumhighdrainloop,dependingon
localcodesandordinancesto preventbackflow intothe
dishwasher.
• Air gap must beused if waste tee or disposerconnectionis
lessthan 18" abovethe floor to preventsiphoning.
DRAIN PREPARATION
Thetypeof draininstallationdependsonanswersto the
following questions:

If the answerto ANY of the 3 questionsaboveisYES,
Method 1 MUST be used. Otherwiseeither Method 1 or
Method2 may beused.FigureC or FigureD.
CAUTION:
An air gapMUSTBEUSEDif the drainhoseisconnectedto
waste tee or disposerlower than 18" abovethe floor.
Failureto providethe properdrainconnectionheightwith air gap
or 32" minimum,highdrainloopwill result in improperdraining
of the dishwasher.

•Drilla 1-1/2" dia. holeinthe cabinetwall within the shaded
areasshownin FigureA for the drainhoseconnection.The hole
shouldbesmoothwith nosharp edges.

Electrical Requirements
= This appliancemustbesuppliedwith 120V, 60 Hz.,and
connectedto an individualproperlygroundedbranchcircuit,
protectedby a 15 or 20 amperecircuit breakeror timedelay
fuse.
• Wiringmust be 2 wire with ground.
• If the electrical supplydoesnot meetthe aboverequirements,
call a licensedelectricianbefore proceeding.
Grounding Instructions - Cable Direct
Thisappliancemustbe connectedto a groundedmetal,permanent
wiring system,oranequipmentgroundingconductormustberun
with the circuitconductorsandbe connectedto the equipment
groundingterminalorleadonthe appliance.
Grounding Instructions - Power Cord Models
Thisappliancemustbegrounded.In theeventof amalfunctionor
breakdown,groundingwill reducethe risk of electrical shock by
providinga path of least resistancefor electric current.The plug
must be pluggedinto anappropriateoutlet that is installedand
groundedin accordancewith local codesandordinances.

•Thewiring mayenterthe openingfrom eitherside, rearor the
floor within theshadedarea.
• Cuta 1-1/2" max.dia. holeto admitthe electricalcable.The hole
must befree of sharpedges.If the cabinetwall is metal,the
holeedgemust becoveredwith a bushing.
• Cabledirect connectionsmay passthrough the sameholeas the
drainhoseandhot water line, if convenient.If cabinetwall is
metal, the hole edgemust becoveredwith a bushing.
NOTE: Powercordswith plugmust passthrough a separate
hole.
Electrical Connection to Dishwasher
Electricalconnectionis onthe right front of dishwasher.
•Forcabledirect connectionsthe cablemustberoutedasshown
in FigureE. Cablemust extenda minimumof 24" from the rear
wall.
• For power cordconnections,install a 3-pronggroundingtype
receptacle.The power-supplyreceptaclefor the applianceshall
beinstalledin a cabinetor ona wall adjacentto the
undercounterspacein whichthe applianceis to be installed.

PREPARE HOT WATER LINE
• The linemayenter from eitherside, rearor floor within the
shadedareashownin FigureF.
• The linemay passthrough the sameholeas the electrical
cableanddrainhose.Or, cut an additional1-1/2" dia. holeto
accommodatethe water line.
If power cord with plugis used,water linemust not pass
throughpower cord hole.

Water Line Connection
• Turn off the water supply.
• Install a handshut-off valvein an accessiblelocation,such as
underthe sink. (Optional,but strongly recommendedandmay
be requiredby local codes.)
• Waterconnectionis on the left sideof the dishwasher.Install
the hot water inlet line, usingnolessthan 3/8" O.D.copper
tubing.Routethe line as shownin FigureF andextend
forward at least 18" from rearwall.
• Adjust water heaterfor 120°F to 150°F temperature.
• Flushwater lineto cleanout debris.
• The hot water supplyline pressuremust be 20-120 PSI.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Locateandset asidethe packagecontaining
2 Phillips headcountertop mountingscrews and
2 additionaltoekick screws (locatedin the literature
package).
ISTEP 1ICHECK DOOR BALANCE
Tocheckthe doorbalance,holdthe topof the dishwasher
firmly.

• Openthe doorslowly, if the door dropswhen released,
increasespring tension. If the door closeswhen released,
decreasetension.
• Pullthe springadjustmentpinout of the holes,insert in the
next highestor lowest holeandtest again.
• Adjust both doorspringsto the sametension.
• Continuemovingthe spring pinuntil dooris balanced.
CAUTION:
Openingthe doorwill causethe dishwasher
to tip forward. Do not open the door until you are
ready to install the dishwasher. If
it is necessaryto openthe door,holdthe ,/_
topof the dishwashersecurelywith one (
handandholdthe doorwiththe other
hand.

• Movethe dishwashercloseto the installation locationandlay
it onits back.

• Removethe 4 toekick screws. Lift off the 2 piecetoekick.

[STEP 13 ICONNECT POWER
SUPPLY
Skip this step if equipped with power cord,
Verify that power is turned off at the source,
• Removejunctionbox cover"A".
•Locatethe three dishwasherwires, (white, blackand green)
with strippedends.Insert dishwasherwires through the
smallholein the junction box"B'.
• Securehousewiring to the bottom of the junction boxwith a
strain relief "C'.
• Userwire nuts to connectincominggroundto green,white to
white andblackto black"O".
• Replacejunction box cover"E". Checkto besurethat wires
arenot pinchedunderthe cover.

WARNING
If housewiring is not 2-wire with ground,
a groundmust beprovidedby the installer.
Whenhousewiring is aluminum,besure to

Review this list after installing your dishwasher to
avoid charges for a service call that is not covered
by your warranty.

[] Opendoorand removeall foam andpaperpackaging.
[] Locatethe Owner'sManualin the literature package.
[] Readthe Owner's Manualfor operatinginstructions.
[] Checkdooropeningandclosing.If doordoesnot openand
closefreely or tendsto fall, checkspring adjustments.See
Step 1.
[] Checkto besure that wiring is secureunderthe dishwasher,
not pinchedor in contact with doorspringsor other
components.SeeStep 9.
[] Checkdooralignmentwith tub. If doorhits tub, level
dishwasher.SeeStep 10.
[] Pulllower rackout, abouthalf way. Checkto besureit does
not roll backorforward onthe door.If the rack moves,adjust
levelinglegs.SeeStep 10.
[] Checkdooralignmentwith cabinet.If doorhitscabinet,
repositionor releveldishwasher.SeeStep 10.
[] Verify water supplyanddrainlines arenot kinkedor in
contact with other components.Contactwith motoror
dishwasherframe could causenoise.SeeStep 8.
[] Turn onthe sink hot water faucet andverify water
temperature.Incomingwater temperaturemust bebetween
120°F and150°F. A minimumof 120°F temperatureis
requiredfor best wash performance.See"PrepareHot Water
Line",page5.
[] Add2 quartsof water to the bottomof the dishwasherto
lubricatethe pumpseal.
[] Turn on water supply. Checkfor leaks.Tightenconnections
if needed.
[] Removeprotectivefilm if presentfrom the controlpaneland
door.

[STEP 151DISHWASHER WET TEST
[] Turnonpowersupply(orplugpowercordintooutlet, if equipped).
[] Turndialto Normal"Wash"position.
[] Closedoor.
[] Checkto besurethat water entersthedishwasher.If water doesnot
enterthedishwasher,checkto besurethat water andpowerare
turnedon.
[] Checkfor leaksunderthedishwasher.If a leakis found,turn power
supplyoff, then tightenconnections.Restorepowerafter leakis
corrected.
[] Checkfor leaksaroundthedoor.A leakaroundthedoorcouldbe
causedby doorrubbingorhitting againstadjacentcabinetry.Reposition
thedishwasherif necessary.SeeStep 9.
[] Thedishwasherwill drainandturn off about5 to 7 minutesafter the
first fill. Checkdrain lines.If leaksarefound,turn poweroff at the
breakerandcorrectplumbingasnecessary.Restorepowerafter
correctionsaremade.SeeStep 12.
[] Opendishwasherdoorandmakesuremost of thewater hasdrained.
If not, checkthat disposerplughasbeenremovedand/orairgapis not
plugged.SeeStep 13.Alsocheckdrainlinefor kinking.
[] Runthedishwasherthroughanotherfill anddraincycle.Checkfor
leaksandcorrect if required.
[] At theendof drain, opendoor andturn dialto OFFposition.

• Placethe innertoekick piece(with slots) againstthe toekick
bracket.The slots shouldalignwith toekick bracket screw
holes.Allow the toekick to touchthe floor.
• Placelargertoekick over the innerpieceandinstall 4 toekick
screws.
• Useadditional2 screwsthat are providedfor installations
over 33-1/2" high.
• Useboth toekick piecesfor all installation heights.

Be sure to leave completeliterature package and installation
instructions with consumer.
